Although we only stayed for one night we were most impressed with the level of customer care and the standards of not only the bedroom, but the restaurant and Billy Badgers Play Den. All the staff we encountered are a credit to the hotel management and we would not hesitate in recommending it others. We will, without doubt, be returning in the very near future.

The location is excellent, just off the main road and with a nice garden centre/shops to look around. The Lord Moreton pub was excellent and the use of Lions Quay is definitely worth a look. Lots of parking available too. Perhaps a baby gate available to those with young children for the split level rooms.

Convenience-short distance from recept. to room Traffic noise if window open for fresh air- would prefer covered in walkway to restaurant- was unable to request width of double bed when booking on internet-eventually we had to select twin beds over the phone which caused a slight problem over the room rate-which was resolved

The room was a pleasant surprise - as it had an upstairs and was really roomy. The king size bed was big enough for all of us to snuggle into and the bathroom was a good size. I would definetly book here again as it was the best hotel we have stayed in over the summer - we've been doing odd days out and stopping over in the Lakes, Scotland & Southport so I can say this with confidence. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were "there" but weren't intrusive. The facilities at the nearby Lion Park hotel were excellent and we all enjoyed the "mood pool" I can't fault the hotel but the nearby pub "The Moreton Arms" was a big duisappointment as we went there at 7pm on Sunday evening for a meal and they didn't have any tables. When I asked how long the wait was she said there was no point waiting!! It didn't stop serving meals for another 2 hours so this was really unhelpful. As it is right next door to the hotel we thought they would be more accomodating, but we had to go elsewhere. As did the other 5 couples who came after us! The hotel were great though as they phoned them and asked why there were no tables and then recommended the placde we finally ate in.

Hotel and facilities where all ok , the health spa at the sister hotel was superb. Paul However do not turn up at the restaurant at 8.20 in the evening on a Sunday because they will turn yo away as to busy to cook any more meals ?????? disappointed is all I can say without going mental about the way we felt being left with no food after a long day enjoying ourselves. The next morning the breakfast was very welcome and enjoyable. Paul

It was convenient for the place we need to be, and the price was excellent. The facilities were fairly basic but of a high standard. There was plenty of parking. For our taste, the beds were much too soft. It was unpleasant to have to go outside (on this occasion in the wind and rain) to get our breakfast. The dinner menu provided in the room was not the same as that in the pub, which was not as interesting. We probably wouldn't have gone to eat there if the menu had been accurate.

Comfortable stopover. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the boiler (heating) was broken in the restaurant but the staff did their best to overcome the problem.

There was an upstairs bedroom that was private, so the kids could stay downstairs. A tv in each section meant we could even watch what we wanted.

Stayed for our wedding anniversary. Very comfortable room . All staff very helpfull and friendly. Room was brilliant and we loved the extra space we had in the family room. No noise from the 2 main roads either side but our room was on the car park side of the hotel. Hospitality tray well stocked and replenished. Used the Country Club at Lion Quay Hotel which was also very nice. Would love to stay again. The room was extremely warm even taking into account the weather. Drinks machine out of order for the whole time we where there so had to walk across the main road to the garage at 11.30 P.M. to get a cold drink. These are only small snags and wouldnt deter me from going again.

Standard of furnishings - degree of comfort. Flexibility in booking - could cancel if necessary. Pleasant staff. Ease of parking. Informality of mealtime arrangements in restaurant and coffeeshop - facilities there if wanted. Range of choices for how much was spent for the stay.

“The location was second to none. We had room 1 which had a four poster bed and the views from the window were superb! We only had breakfast which was very good. We tend to explore the surrounding area during the day and mainly eat out at lunchtime so didn't sample any other meals at the hotel.” Carole, Brierley Hill |
