The room for GBP 160 per night was awful. Where do I start... One tiny pillow Wall paper peeling oof the wall Tiny TV Very rusty radiator with paint peeling off Apparently they are renovating the rooms but this clearly should be accelerated Wifi is just a domestic router near the reception and inadequate in the adjoining lounges

the place is absolutely lovely with lovely surrounding countryside, the staff were very friendly but not pushy, and were very helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Like to have a choice of a shower, although it was very relaxing in a bath,a shower is more eco-friendly.

Staff were friendly & helpful. Rooms very comfortable - best 3 nights sleep in months! Excellent breakfast - didn't use restuarant in evening - we were out and about. Location of hotel 5 minutes from Corfe Castle Heritage railway station - just 20 minutes train ride to Swanage. We were here (Early Sept 2012) when Steam Gala, Folk Festival (Swanage) & vintage car display at (Harmans Cross) were all on at same weekend - two day rover ticket on railway allowed us to park car for weekend at hotal and enjoy local ales, food and hospitality. Weather was great too - dosn't come much better!

Shower not a power shower - TV in room was flat screen but very small.

Staff friendliness and helpfulness, well prepared and presented food, fine old house, its position in Corfe Castle.

Great service, excellent food (definitely book in for Dinner!)

Rooms not up to standard and small bathrooms need upgrading also noisy from wedding guests out on terraces wifi doesn't reach to rooms toiletries very sparse very overpriced!

We were very lucky as on arrival we found we had been upgraded to the loft room. We had views of the castle as well as the village, with a large bathroom and a separate sitting room it made for a lovely stay. The food was excellent if a little expensive and the staff were very pleasant too. The location was ideal for us being near the centre of the village and close to the swanage railway.

this is what we wrote to the hotel: What a shame! You welcomed us with a question whether we'd been before - and of course we had. You gave us a poky room -4 - with an uncomfortable mattress and windows that wouldn't work. Dinner was not up to the standard we expected from you - overcooked lamb and trout, cool vegetables, untrained serving staff. Breakfast was spoiled by your serving ham when my partner ordered vegetarian - generally your serving staff seemed clueless. Our toiletries were not replaced. We were disturbed at 10.20 by someone trying to force her way in, and then muttering something, despite our displaying the do not disturb sign!

Just change the toilet seat in room 14. The finish is delaminating to reveal the fibre board beneath & fibre board absorbs moisure like blotting paper which is particularly unsavoury in regard to a wc seat

It is set in a beautiful location, very nice hotel with good parking.

Our room did not feel very romantic. It was obviously kitted out to be disabled friendly, but without consideration for style. The bed was two singles pushed together which was not comfortable. The breakfast was good, but not good enough to justify the cost of the stay.

The rooms in the heritage building are tastefully furnished, the breakfast is excellent and the staff is friendly.

This is the second time I visited this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast in bed was wonderful. Its a great place to stay to explore the Isle of Purbeck. The room was cosy and the period and original features were wonderful, especially the old Victorian bath tub.

Location, all food was first class, staff very friendly, views amazing, helpful - found us a heater when we complained room was very cold.

Room was very cold, and overpriced for its basic facilities. It was however exceptionally clean. Shower was appalling, low pressure and a very basic fitting given this is a 'luxury' hotel. Toilet was not flushing, again, water pressure. In fact, I had to fill wastebin with water 3 times to flush away loo roll - not good :( Expected mineral water as a given considering the room rate, none in room, only one biscuit pack berween 2 guests on both nights. The facilities in the main part of the hotel were fine - it was the actual room that was of a lower standard. We booked dinner for 7pm - came down on time - but did not atually get shown menus for 30 mins. Confusion at check-out, I then asked for receipt to include everything - general confusion about whether the booking was prepaid or not created additional payment being made after I left.

Lovely old hotel, excellent location, very nicely furnished, excellent restaurant (both dinner and breakfast were delicious), friendly staff. We had a beautiful view of the castle from our bathroom window.

Wi-fi signal very patchy - couldn't get it in our room, and even downstairs the signal was intermittent.

The hotel was very friendly, relaxed, clean and well run. Nice architecture. We had a quiet, comfortable stay. Enjoyed playing board games next to a roaring fire in the evening.

The decor! It looked like it had been recently decorated, and was in very good condition, but it was just very fuddy-duddy and frilly. Flowery hallways, red patterned carpets, fake flower displays. Grandmas everywhere would love it. I'm tempted to send the owners a link to the Farrow & Ball Inspiration page!
