The Moss Grove Organic Hotel has been designed to be both luxurious and environmentally friendly. The spacious rooms have private bathrooms, large beds, organic toiletries and flat-screen TVs. The Victorian building retains its vintage charm but has been updated throughout. The renovation work used eco-friendly and natural products from clay paint to sheep’s wool insulation. Many of the beds are hand-made from reclaimed wood and feature duck down comforters and pillows and 100% cotton sheets. Fair trade tea and coffee and organic cookies are available in the rooms. Moss Grove serves a Mediterranean buffet breakfast using organic, fair trade and local produce. Free Wi-Fi and free on-site parking are available. In Grassmere village center, just over 550 yards from Grassmere Lake, Moss Grove Organic Hotel is in the heart of the Lake District. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from Thirlmere or Lake Windermere. location. the fact that dogs are allowed. the organic nature of how it is run. whilst the owners like lillies, they tend to cause both of us bad heads. we did ask if they could be toned down, but nothing happened. shame.

Gorgeous boutique style small hotel. Beautifully decorated and appointed. Superb location whether having a leisurely weekend or an active walking break. Little pricey - but then that's the lakes on a bank holiday. Car park too small.

The location is superb and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room decor was to a very high standard and eco-friendly. The style is unusual but very pleasant and relaxing.

The room and bathroom were beautiful, which is what you are paying for, but because the bathroom was so large the towel rail, (which was behind the bathroom door), wasn't anywhere near the hand-basin or the jaccuzi bath and shower and there wasn't anywhere to put the towel except on top of the toilet cistern when using the basin or on the floor when using the shower. Hotel was spotlessly clean and the young lady on reception was very pleasent and helpful. As it was Easter we were given an easter egg (organic dark chocolate) in the room on our arrival, nice touch. We did not realize when we booked the Moss Grove Hotel that it is really a bed and breakfast the young lady who greated us told us this when we arrived. We had to book elsewhere for our evening meal. There isn't a bar in the hotel and everything, even the sitting room is locked up at 9pm and nobody except the guests are on the premises, you use your room key to let yourself back in on an evening. The breakfast is a 'help yourself affair' from the kitchen which was substantial but of a mediterranean influence, olives, sun dried tomatoes, museli, cold ham, bread etc; not for full english lovers, the only hot thing on the menu was a sausage, but everything was organic or locally sourced. The gentleman doing the breakfast in the kitchen was very quiet and a little more conversation to make guests feel more welcome would be good. You take your breakfast on a tray into the sitting room where you can either sit at the long oak table with other guests or eat off your lap on the easy chairs or sofa. This hotel is definitely different but not to everyone's cup of tea.

Even though we did not choose the Moss Grove Hotel because it was organic but due to its location as we were attending a wedding ceremony locally, it's organic and eco friendly aspect was most enjoyable and would certainly recommend/stay here again.

Due to the central location of the hotel it is well placed to explore the whole of Grasmere without any issues - Grasmere is small and compact!! There was enough parking for about 8 - 9 cars but we travelled by motorcycle and could park in a safe(ish) area away from the vehicles by the wall - One thing would be nice is a secure ground or wall anchor to tether the bike to?? The fully organic, self service breakfast was plentyful, diverse and well presented in a relaxed and ambient atmosphere via the kitchen and enjoyed in the main lounge on a choice of soft (leather) or hard seating - whatever floats your boat - very agreeable. Rooms were individual and warm, quiet and very comfortable and the spa bathroom we had was well received to take away the aches of any walking / climbing I did and you may wish to do. All in all the missus wants to go back - enough said. This is not a dislike by any stretch of the imagination but a suggestion - What about having a selection of organic, local (or not so) beers available for sale so that you could sit in that lovely lounge and help plan that walk, day out, night out in the excellent eating establishments or just to chill and read or play the games supplied - Just a thought!

We stayed in room 3 which was great. It had a massive bed that a shorter person might have needed a stool to get in but fabulous all the same. The staff were excellent - booking our restaurant and researching areas for kayaking. The breakfast was delicious and healthy with lots of fruit, nuts, a few sausages and lovely fresh croissants. No real problems, though I would have liked a proper bathroom door. The tiny bit of glass didn't even cover the gap for the door with a lot space around the tops, bottom and sides of it. Maybe i'm a prude but I like privacy when I use the toilet! The bath and shower are amazing though!

Location is perfect if you like Grasmere! The hotel is very nice, the rooms are huge and we were in the Superior Suite. King Size bed (which you need to climb onto!) French doors, onto a balcony....all very romantic and comfortable. Bathroom looks nice and is very clean. Breakfast was fantastic. Organic and all locally sourced. The Hotel struggles with hot water. This was mentioned to us from someone who stayed in 2009. We thought we'd give it a go anyway. The water pressure is very low and we had to endure a lukewarm shower. The Manager gave us a 30% refund. (we would've preferred a hot shower!)

The spa bath was really lovely and the superior bedroom we had was superb. The Mediterranean breakfast was second to none as it was clear that they made a big effort to ensure that everything was organic and very healthy. My husband and I were so pleased about spending our wedding anniversary day at the moss groove. It was so quite and looked like a romantic getaway. We care about the environment and its nice to see an hotel that clearly propagates this cause. The person we met at the reception was really helpful and he gave us information about walks around grasmere. No lifts

The hotel was amazing. The rooms were beautiful. The staff brilliant and friendly. The Mediteranean buffet breakfasts were yummy and set us up for the day, far better than many mediocre 'full English breakfasts' served elsewhere. The dining/lounge area was extremely comfy and chilled out. We left after a couple of days feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. An excellent hotel, roll on next November when we return

Strong point: Its location in a lovely part of Cumbria Provision of an interesting self-serve breakfast. Relatively small room considering the cost of an upgrade. No additional wc facilities outside of the room. Trendy glass door to the bathroom that did not fit and therefore did not provide privacy.
