Service good. Dinner good except dessert
Desserts need a re-think. Not very original or tasty
Room was comfortable and well equipped. Food quality was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Decor and bar ambience were excellent. I enjoyed the stay.
Room service and bar menus were limited, I would of liked to have seen more choice. Choice in terms of fish, soups etc
spa and pool
We had a night away to celebrate a birthday. Lovely location. We stayed in room 319. Corner location and very comfortable. Well worth the visit.
Sitting areas cold during the day.
Excellent facility. Beautiful and comfortable
Beautiful location but very problematic in terms of getting to and from. My biggest expence was taxis there and back
The hotel, breakfast and the staff.
The Bedroom, Small, too dark, it smelt of bad drains, the sink would not drain, the sound proofing was poor and the hot water ran very slowly in the morning. It took a while to understand how to work the shower but that may be me.
The room was clean neat with good facillities
Good service, room, lovely spa, great atmospher
Lovely setting and general facilities and hotel in general
Old listed building, so noisy as thin windows and could hear everything in next room. Doesn't make for a great nights sleep. No air con either.
The staff always greet you, never just ignore you or pretend to not see you. It was relaxing and enjoyable . When a problem did arise it was dealt with efficiently and satisfactorily. We had a toddler with us and can say that it was a kids friendly hotel.
Minor trivial things like poor quality tea at breakfast. Towels were not clean in our room, but when we complained they were replaced immediately. No view in our room.
The staff were all very friendly and helpfull especially, John, the restaurant manager and the young girl who served our afternon tea.
The anniversary gift
The room was too small and we expected an outdoor area as before, we thought all deluxe rooms had this and there was no explanation on the website to suggest otherwise, staff seemed scruffy and too busy with a wedding for anything else, also indoor jacuzzi had safety cap missing which almost cut my leg open
Service was slow and poor Staff were scruffy Presented with our bill by having it posted under our door early hours of the morning which made you feel a bit like can you leave now!!!
Location and the facilities were amazing. Friendly staff and lovely relaxed atmosphere
Noise from music in reception lobby could be heard in our bedroom - it played all night and day
This hotel is fantastic! The facilities are comprehensive and extremely well thought out. The room was nice. Staff on the whole were great. We had a very relaxing stay.
Food in the resteraunt was very expensive.
The idea is good with facilities all on site
The cocktail bar was hardly a cocktail bar... The staff didn't know what to make cocktails only one member out of 3 could make them therefore there was a longg wait! The bar itself was more like a reception there was nothing cocktail bar about it and for the price of the drinks!! The food menu was pretty boring and over priced for what it was!
Excellent customer service who it seemed couldn't do enough for us, and lovely spa facilities (excellent outdoor hot tub, which I could have stayed in a long time).
A tiny complaint in an otherwise lovely stay but the hotel bedroom doors shut with a bit of a bang, presumably because they are fire doors and need to shut properly? This was fine during the day, but a bit of a problem late at night.
Friendly and helpful staff, such a shame the room let them down.
Hard bed and it was very warm in the hotel bedrooms which made it very uncomfortable which wasn't helped by the windows only opening a little way because of window security. Wouldn't stay again.
The service from the staff was terrible in the cocktail bar. We were told our lunch (sandwiches) would only take 10 minutes from ordering. One person got their lunch after 10 minutes. 3 people got theirs after an hour and the other person had to ask 5 times for their lunch, which eventually arrived an hour and 15 minutes after ordering. One person who ordered a ploughman's didn't get any bread, we asked several times where it was, eventually it arrived, 15 minutes later, by which point the other two people that received their meals at the same time had finished. Unfortunately the poor service could not be blamed on the bar being busy, as there was only one other table of people there whilst we were in.
Very comfortable beds, good rooms. Lovely situation.
We had to make our own bed and hang fresh towels in the bathroom. Costs soon mount and can lead to an eye watering Bill.
Bit dated and poor lighting in standard rooms, felt dark and gloomy.
Nearly everything was prefect.
It was a good job we were only staying for one night and not a week. There was hardly anywhere to put anything!! And the time spent in the room, we spent giving way to one another. It's a pity the room was so small, and it wasn't a basic room either.
Upgraded to supposedly better room, which was half the size of my original room!
The hotel and facilities were excellent, ideal place to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary with our children and grandaughters. Also it was pleasing to note all our rooms were next door to each other which was perfect with two young grandchildren. The leisure and Spa were superb.
The Restaurant. We had hoped to celebrate our Ruby wedding with a lovely a la carte meal, but it was ruined by the worst service we have experienced from a 4* or 5* hotel. It got so bad that the Restaurant Manager was permantly apologising to us. Very embarrassing for everyone. Other clients were also complaining about the poor service. Will we go back, ?maybe, but only when we have forgotten that such a special weekend could have been ruined if we had allowed it to be.
