The room was excellent. Unfriendly staff, particularly a young girl in the bar who was very unfriendly, bordering on rude. The food was not particularly good, especially for a 4 star hotel. The website says a shuttle service from the aiport is provided, however the hotel were not able to provide a shuttle fo either my inbound or outbound flghts - apparently the manager had to authorise the use of a shuttle, and he / she did not think that my custom warranted this service.

The Hotel itself is set in very nice grounds with lakes (though would be nice if someone would shoot the quacking ducks) and golf course and the interior of the hotel is Grand Looking, the staff were all friendly although it was common to see the front reception un-manned and a wait would ensue as no way of attracting staff is available. (Small press bell maybe) We stayed in 410 the nets to the window had holes in and the wooden window frames were black with mildew and the smell of that mixed with stale cigarette smoke was not the most welcoming, as we were only staying one night we did not bother to change rooms but wish we had as when we retired to bed we discovered the pillows on the bed also smelt of stale cigarette smoke. We also were meant to enjoy a £12.50 per head buffet which turned out to be the worst buffet I have ever seen with cold chips, sliced pre-formed breaded chicken fillets and mushy egg sandwiches on stale bread. The food layed out for 80 people could not of cost more than £100 but the hotel had charged £900 + Room hire £500 please please do your research before booking a function at this hotel.

Excellant staff who tried their hardest to make up for a hotel in decline. Hotel is not of the standard as advertised. The room (King) was musty, with broken/ worn out furnishings and the whole hotel stuck in an 80's time warp at 2011 prices.

The staff were very helpful. The room was very large and great value. The breakfast was excellent. Lovely place to stay. The television was turned down to 40% so it was difficult to hear. The pillows were uncomfortable. Cheap polyester type. Poor supply of tea bags and biscuits.

I enjoyed the smart and reputable look of it. It's reputation is what attracted me to stay here. Cleanliness, and staff not doing what they say they would do.

Most of them were foreign but spoke good english & were very friendly & very helpful. Good country feel to the building & surroundings. Great location if you have a car 10mins to douglas or airport. The rooms were quite dated in there facilites & design, could not take a shower without drowning the bathroom.

We came over to join your iom 4x4 for the weekend. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay, in fact we hoped that the ferry would be cancelled so that we didnt have to leave. The food was excellent, the rooms wre outstanding. The hotel was very clean tidy and the service was wonderful. We are buisness people and find it hard to unwind, but we were so relaxed we didnt want to leave. We will be back. None its fantastic THANK YOU

Convenient to all parts of the Isle of Man. The leisure facilities. The pleasant staff in the lounge bar. No information about what is on - the Russian ballet were staying there and we found out in Douglas that they were performing at the Gaiety Theatre and we booked there. My wife is hampered by a leg support and to get to the swimming pool required stairs. Also to get into the pool had to use vertical steps. The most useful steps would be with a handrail and a slope as in the hydrotherapy pool.

Hydrotherapy facilities good, bar menus reasonable cost, location relative to rest of the island was good. Bar staff friedly & helpful. People smoking at both entrances & having to breathe in smoke, no lockers available for changing rooms on two occasions - club members got priority not hotel guests, fire alarm activiated after midnight one night, no check on guests, no apology or even notice to inform guests.

“Englewood Lodgeis an exceptional B&B - worth more than its 5 star rating. Spacious, beautifully furnished bedroom, comfy bed, large ensuite with bath and shower cubicle, luxurious toileteries, wonderful view of Douglas Bay. Amazing lounge facilities with large TV, pool table, coffee machine and fridge and a sun lounge with views over the bay. Margaret, your host, is amazing. Apart from providing the 5 star breakfast, with lots of choice, she is willing to help with information about the island and anything to make your stay enjoyable. She does a fantastic evening meal on request (don't miss the Manx Queenies !) This is the place to stay on the Isle of Man - you won't find better.” Anthony, Doncaster |

“I liked the brightness of the foyer with the bar and rest areas on both sides, giving the hotel a relaxed but still formal atmosphere. The room I stayed in was perfect for a one night business stay, couldn't ask for more, and the price included breakfast. Good value for money.” Ian, Runcorn |
