Despite staying in a double room with no seaviews (due to late booking), it was a comfortable stay as the beds were good and the room size is decent. The whole hotel is furnished in an English country style and the staff will try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Bay Restaurant (within the hotel) is superb and we enjoyed our breakfast and dinner very much. Try the cornish wines, they are pretty good! Overall, a surprisingly good weekend break.

Rooms were small, but normal for UK standards. Very clean, well maintained, and nicely set up. Bathroom was comparatively large. Overall room was attractive and cozy. Bed was comfortable. Attractive building in a very pretty location with very nice views. Walls were terribly thin. I got to hear one neighbor snore all night and the couple next door's "romantic activity". Internet is pricey. I also took issue with their advertising of the fact that internet access was not included. I do realize that "internet available" does not mean it's paid for but it should state it outright along with the cost. Internet was also not available in my room. I had to sit in the lobby in order to connect and do work. Staff were very eager to help me with the connectivity issue in my room, but were simply unable to help and the hotel did not have access to more timely assistance. Lack of quality internet connectivity and thin walls make this a no-repeat stay for me.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was excellent. I cannot fault the service. My main problem was I felt the 'Superior' double room did not live up to expectations. I felt it was a standard double room; Beariing in mind this is a 4 star hotel I expected better. The room was small and I had to put my wash bag on the floor of the bathroom as there was no space to put it anywhere else. The parking was a problem and we had to park on the road on one day. There should be dedicated spaces for guests and not let visitors to the restaurant take the spaces. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast though staff did manage to find a banana for me when asked. I feel there are other 4 star hotels nearby offering better facilities.

The location of hotel Penzanze overlooking the bay & just out of city centre yet within easy walking made for a very tranquil & pleasing setting . The staff could not have been more welcoming , efficient & pleasant . The spacious , clean & well appointed superior room was a welcome refuge from full days exploring the attractive environs as was the sense of returning home ! The in house Bay resturant was consistently good with creative, competively priced & artistically presented dishes in a pleasant setting . We left wanting more ; great value , good location , warm & welcoming with cosy sitting rooms incl a resident cat! The shower hot / cold water unit was unsatisfactory .

We enjoyed our stay and found it most relaxing. On the Saturday evening there was a wedding party in and some of the guests were staying in the next room. They came up at 12.00 midnight very noisily went again from the room again, noisily, eventually came back to the room at 02.00 and put the television on loudly. It spoiled our night and therefore part of the next day.We would like to think that it might be made clear that other people may have come for some rest and relaxation. It coloured our opinion of our stay which was otherwise relaxing. Thank you. Mike & Sally.

The restaurant and breakfast were really great. Only small points would be the decor in the rooms and furniture were a bit dated. We had a chest of draws with a handle missing. The bathroom was a bit cold and maybe central heating rather than electric raiators would be more comfortable for guests in winter.

The mature receptionist was more than helpful and more than welcoming, a real gentleman who carried our bag upstairs! Everybody was very friendly and I will come back! Nothing to say for the bedroom: there was an Ipod deck There was some slight mould stains in the bathroom but nothing to impact on our stay

The restaurant was excellent, food made a change from usual Hotel food though the rabbit starter looked better than it tasted.I loved the art work around the hotel, and the lounges were particularly welcoming. Staff were at al times helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the bed in room 6 wasn't very comfortable and i spent a rather restless night. The water supply to bathroom left a bit to be desired. The hot water in the bath was fine but there was a very poor supply to the cold tap and it took ages to get the bath water right. The taps in the sink both dripped and i had to get up during the night to shut off. Also, pipe work was very noisy and there was noise from other rooms when people used their water.

We were late arriving and the girl on reception cheerfully helped us find food late at night. The rooms were very cosy. The restaurant is very good and popular locally, very good breakfast and dinner menu. Nice lounge areas in which to relax.

The service was very good, the staff very friendly, the bedding was amazing ,lovely crisp fresh bedding ! always a first for my room inspection ! The breakfast was fabulous and although the first impression of The Cornish was it was for a 'pixie' it was a real delight ! Yum ! As we were put up in the attic room called The Cuby ( Cubby Hole ) and to get there were two flights of very steep stairs and no lift I did struggle as I had just had surgery on my knee which made it very painful to scale them .The room for the £149 price was really quite expensive as a 4 star rated hotel the room was very small and not 4 star rated .

Brilliantly friendly staff and good touches like drinking water in rooms and free afternoon tea in the lounge. Really good cooked breakfast choices too. Our room was very comfortable and had a wonde3rful view over the bay. Evening meal a little disappointing given Michelin recommendation.
