Loved the cosy feel to this hotel. The restaurant was first class, great food and wine.
Comfort Breakfast Staff View
The staff were wonderfully welcoming and friendly, as was the cat. Our room was spacious and very well equipped with sea views and a Nespresso machine with choice of coffees. The restaurant was excellent, far better than most hotel restaurants, with a range of very good cooked breakfast choices; the dinner menu was interesting and our choices skilfully cooked and beautifully presented.
Parking was limited for a long car but we found free parking on the street.
The hotel is located a short walk from the town centre with excellent facilities and courteous staff. Breakfast was good, although my selection from the menu wasn't available, so I made do with a rather lovely eggs florentine! I would happily stay here again and recommend.
There are a lot of stairs, no problem for me or the boyfriend, but for the elderly or those with prams, they might be a challenge. On the occasion I was there, there was a commotion outside very early in the morning. I have no idea what was going on, but I felt this was somewhat of a rarity.
the uphill walk
the staff were excellent, we didn't arrive until 4 30 pm and it was my wife's birthday the following day, so I asked if they new of a florist near by so I could go and get some flowers, but they just said leave it with us and we will have them ready for you at breakfast, and as promised they brought them to the table at breakfast along with a lovely birthday card from the hotel staff. Full marks for going the extra mile, it really made my wife's day, and our weekend. And the breakfast was excellent.
Very high quality food and wine Staff Location of hotel - convenient for town but in a good residential area Quiet Room Excellent tea/coffee making facilities Excellent Service Really efficient, helpful frendly staff Very clean Good shower and nice bathroom
Pillow cases missing on two pillows The room was small but I was warned about this. Fine for a couple of days. We were in room 20. This is a very quiet room which was the most important factor for us. Nothing else to dislike.
Everything was excellent - no complaints whatsoever!
the view,the food
Wonderful welcome, pleasant room, good food in restaurant. What more can you ask?
We had very nice 2 night stay at hotel penzance. Staff couldn't be any more helpful. We had a lovely sea view room. The breakfast and the choices they offered were excellent. The complementary tea and cakes in the afternoon was a lovely touch.
The shower pressure was very low and I thought the carpet needed replacing. But would still stay there again if I re visit Penzance.
couldn't do enough for you, nothing was too much trouble would definitely stay again
We loved this hotel. We loved the restaurant. Really accommodating host and staff. I'd recommend to anyone
The staff were excellent The food was fabulous. Very close to the town. Great view when you stretched to see it. Car parking.
The room we stayed in was not a superior one. We asked for a sea view but had to stretch to see it. The bed creeked. I had bruises on my leg where I kept hitting my leg on the bottom of the bedstead. No extra pillows and blankets as stated in hotel brochure. When we ran a bath brown water came out the taps, we didn't to bathe or shower after that, didn't want to clean our teeth either in tap water, although they did give us bottled water and a free bottle or wine with our dinner I was ver disappointed It was not worth the money, have stayed in better cheaper hotels .
From check in to check out this hotel exceeded all our expectations. The rooms were very comfortable, with many touches, such as a nespresso machine in our room, very good wifi, and extra fluffy towels. Afternoon tea was provided without charge for guests. Breakfast was served until 11am, perfect for those who love a good sleep in on their holiday. Our dinners each night were delicious and our toy poodle Emily was welcome here and throughout the hotel. The staff were helpful, friendly and only too happy to make our stay a memorable one.
The tranquility and peace we craved.
Bed was a bit soft and the walls paper thin. Could hear next door plug in a phone and text messages coming into their mobile!
First night excellent room...great last minute deal..decided to stay a second night which the hotel managed but had to change room... not so good as much smaller and up in the gods but was ok... bought some artwork which was a great find
Nothing to dislike
The Teddy Bears. Breakfasts were excellent.
Dining room floor was often dirty; it just needed a regular sweeping.
Good location with wonderful views across the bay. Staff helpful and friendly. The hotel has a very personal, homely atmosphere. A choice of areas to relax in. Green credentials. There were some nice 'touches' - a bath robe; choice of organic shower gels; quality tea, coffee and chocolate in the room; free bottled water.
The restaurant menu didn't change and was expensive and limited especially the desserts. There were some strange flavour combinations. A difficult menu for vegetarians. It needs to vary more - no chicken included for instance. There were repairs needed to my room. Broken window - couldn't open and shut without help. Bath enamel chipped. Very loud plumbing noises from adjoining rooms.
location, food and outlook
We stayed in room 22. The television in the room next to ours was on the other side of the adjoining wall where our bed head was located. We could not sleep due to the noise. I reported it to the manager who sympathised but did nothing
The staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was varied but tasty and well prepared Town centre within easy walking distance
The car parking was a problem (tight squeeze) because we arrived late afternoon. Their was no bitter in the bar and I do enjoy a pint or two
Sue Hornsey - a lovely lady who welcomed us with a big smile, lots of useful information and helpfulness. A truly lovely view from our room, N° 25, of Mount St Michael, Penzance harbour and bay. Friendliness of staff & receiving a birthday card from Natalie in the restaurant, once she'd been told it was my birthday. Good location, walk into Penzance in 10 minutes slow stroll. Laundromat, bus station, railway station all within 10 minute stroll. N° 25 was a good size room on the top floor, with views in 2 directions.
Pillows too flat & unsupportive, noise comes through the thin walls, car park very tight - our car was scratched overnight, so park at the top of the car park, not in the diagonal bays at the bottom, unless you have a very short car like a Fiat 500.
Greeting was warm and friendly, staff very attentive to guests enjoyment
Our room had a double aspect sea view. Definitely worth the extra. The bed, king sized was very comfortable and the views marvellous. The car park a little interesting but manageable, and situation very close to the shopping, about 10 minute slow walk. Breakfast was good and substantial. To be thoroughly recommended Should have a higher rating.
Food, staff & clean rooms Nothing too much trouble
Parking tight needs to have short vehicles only bays in some parts
