Noise from next room, thin walls.
Where it was
Toilet dirty cobwebs mould on walls scratches up my arms from all the bad bed springs had to gr up at five as the bed was so bad when I spoke to reception they told me write a letter which I thought was very bad service
Amazing place absolutely perfect staff so warming and kind and helpful couldnt have asked for a better place to stay and as for view was brilliant :) and what an amazong price aswell ;) would reccomend to everyone! Xx
Nothing it was perfect :)
dated. mouldy bathroom. 80s décor, (as in unchanged, rather than retro) smelly
Great breakfast, friendly staff, comfy beds
excellent value for money
alarm clock that didn't work although given an alarm call at 6.30
Poor parking area.
Everything else. Filthy bathroom. So bad we could not shower. Even took photos to show friends. No milk in room. Asked for some and was give a jug of fresh milk. Our fridge was the outside window ledge. Customers in the bar were swearing badly and loudly, they werenot asked to curb their language. Carpets filthy. Doors with smashed locks. Horrible.
Quiet and clear. Lovely hotel with very friendly staff
The building is very big and it has a lot of stairs; if you go with suitcases, is really difficult to get to the rooms... NO wifi in the rooms!!
Comfortable room, excellent wi fi access, superb breakfast, a very relaxing stay, fantastic value for money
As a former resident of Barry and user of the MOUNT SORREL it was good to be back, the room was very clean and comfortable
Didn't like the fact that the MOUNT SORREL is to be pulled down and not replaced as a hotel, the other things I didn't like was the shower was in the bath being elderly couldn't use shower, also the area of the hotel we were in didn't receive Wi-Fi, as it is being pulled down I can understand why this is not an important issue.
Basic clean room. Good bathroom facilities and shower. Friendly staff. Couple of mins walk to train station
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and made up every day of a 3 day stay. Very near Barry railway station and buses. The included breakfast was excellent and included a full English option, tinned fruit and juice. For the very low price vary good really.
The shower was a bit weak, but my partner loved having a bidet. Much of furniture was a bit decrepit, hard to close drawers and doors etc, but it was very low priced. Smokers not provided with an outside area with cover but they let me borrow a large umbrella, so not so bad.
Breakfast, room, no heating, noisy
Miserable staff on reception, power cut in room when hair dryer used. Had to run around in shower to get wet, water boiling then freezing cold. No late bar, breakfast was terrible with complete lack of service. Replies from hotels usually say why didn't you say at the time, in my view they get their chance to get things right when you check in !
Staff friendly and helpful location cost
Last time I stayed breakfast was excellent, this time it was the worst that I have ever had in any hotel - cheap, dehydrated and burnt.... mostly accommodates older people's short stays (1 day) so very difficult to get a room esp for a few days stay :-(
The hotel location is 5 minutes from Barry train station, and 10 minutes walk from Barry town centre. The rooms were clean and comfortable and for the price excellent value for money
I'm staying there at the end of November but that will be it as it is being demolished early next year, which is a great shame
Large room,comfy beds
Paper thin walls, windows didn't shut properly, cheap breakfast no fresh coffee at breakfast only instant.
Good value for money. The room was adequate for our needs and it was clean and the linen was spotlessly clean. The room was a good size too.The breakfast was excellent. The location was good .there is a good shopping street nearby and there is a bus stop and a train station within walking distance. You can walk to a lovely beach if you enjoy a walk.
Car parking is not easy as you have to drive up a steep drive to park.
Location is great
Rooms were very small and not very clean, a lot of noise were coming from outside. Breakfast was awful and some of the staff were rude.
Perfect for travelling on a budget. Close to railway station and good for visiting Cardiff. Fantastic views from its location. Friendly, helpful staff.
How close the hotel was to surrounding restaurants Room was really clean and tidy Room and facilities where very good for the value I paid. Very clear about times for check in - outs, breakfast ect.
I found the pillows very hard Didn't seem to be enough staff when we arrived to manage the bar and the front desk at the same time. Wasn't a lock on the bathroom door, so I found this slightly uncomfortable when sharing a room with someone.
A very grand yet affordable hotel. It was a wonderful haven after an exhausting some exhausting travel. The staff were very helpful in smoothing out an issue in the reservation, and the room very modern and QUIET! A nice breeze wafted through the open doors, which was a relief after I had climbed the mountain on which the Mount Sorrel is located to the top with a heavy suitcase. I knew it was within short walking distance from the train station, but did not consider elevation! Had an early start as I was flying out of Cardiff Airport very early, but the staff arranged a taxi and everything went smoothly and efficiently.
Hardly anything unless I am overly critical. Staff slightly aloof, but then again, they did their job EXTREMELY well, were professional, and its not their job to make friends. Also didn't like that I had not made reservations to stay longer as it is a great location.
