Mount Sorrel Hotel  

The room was very spacious The breakfast was excellent The swimming pool was a useful addition.

It would have been an advantage to have the bar open.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. For the price it represents reasonable value for money.

The hotel is in need of a refurb as it looks and feels tired.

The hotel was in a good location to visit friends and family in Barry, and until recently was the only proper non b&b hotel near the town centre. However there are other hotels now opening. It's got a good bar and breakfast is included. Staff are friendly.

It's very dated and expensive for what it is. There's no Internet, and the breakfast wasn't up to much. Shower is designed for anyone under 5'6" and worked wrong way round. Single bed was exactly that! Facilities in the room were very basic.

The room was clean, large and comfortable. Staff appeared to be friendly. Good value for money.

Breakfast was ok but when we arrived (9.30 a.m.) there was limited hot food available - and what was keeping warm looked dried up as if it had been hanging around too long. Also only a small amount of grapefruit available. However, my father asked for egg and beans and this was cooked fresh for him.

We liked the friendly staff and the good location.

The parking space out front is limited in size and the sloping surface makes it awkward to manouvre.

Nice breakfast - but it would be nice to have been given options as to its contents. Generally good service, but the breakfast staff brought a tea pot and left me to locate milk. Another table was given milk in a jug.

Cracks in basin. Dirty tea mug in room. Bedside light not working. Window left open in room on arrival with no heater turned on - v cold initially - probably a good reason for this but, with my arrival later in the evening, this wasn't very welcoming.

Breakfast was lovely,but was left without milk and toast but other than that everyhing was fine!! Clean and friendly staff would stay again !!

Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent bar and bar meals on site. Plentiful breakfast. Any minor problems were rectified speedily. They are obviously gradually refurbishing this hotel and the ground floor is newly decorated etc. Sky TV was being installed whilst we were there. If you want Ikea and crisp furninshings then this is not for you...try travel lodge! If you want a bit more character,comfortable beds, friendly staff, good food all under one roof at a really reasonable cost...this is for you. My daughter and I would stay again!

This hotel has a gym/sauna and pool but unfortunately the pool was out of use when we stayed. It would be helpful if there was more info about the hotel facilities and the local area in the room instead of an A4 page.(The local shops, beach etc)...but staff did have the answers.

Improved from last visit. New owners. Bathroom cleaner, attempt to update with new control on shower, Kettle in room with plug. Breakfast wonderful. Attentive staff as always.

Windows difficult to open and shut. No swimming pool but was trying to re-open. Carpet in bedroom not vacuumed during stay and 5 days with the same bedding.

Breakfast cooked hour in advance. Cheap coffee and white bread. Food handler with dirty fingernails.

Lovely breakfast, staff were so helpful and even brought a meal to my room as there was a function going on downstairs. Only stayed over night so didn't get to see much of the hotel but the bits I saw were very nice.

Tv was so old I only managed to get three channels, flat screens would be nice. Was a bit scared parking on the steep carpark but that's not really a complaint, just a personal thing!

The water pressure was a joke. The shower wasa so slow. the bathroom was antiquated and every seam was mouldy

The Mount Sorrel received its Perm Manager on the day of our arrival , it would seem that the place will be gaining an injection of improvement with his arrival , We await the results of his efforts with interest.
