The price included admission to the grounds and Owls, which at the time of writing was £10 per senior. Access was available to the grounds after 6pm and before 10am being times when general public not admitted. Rhodedendrums and other trees in bloom as well as Bluebell woods. Near to Eskdale Miniature Railway and Ravenglass Village. Self catering facility included as well as full breakfast. We will go again.

An excellent short break. The Coachman's Quarters was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The communal kitchen and lounge were available to all guests and were a plus to the usual b & b style accommodation. A superb setting- guests allowed freedom of the grounds after visitors had left and discount entry to the castle. The breakfast was brilliant !!

Free access to the grounds of Muncaster castle was a plus, they are fairly extensive. Also free on site parking Not the easiest place to find in the mist. Don't confuse the Castle visitors entrance with that for Coachmans Quarters

I'm not sure 300 words is enough! The staff bent over backwards for us. My wife wanted to do the Mole's Maze before we left in the morning, and even though it was raining and they were preparing for a wedding, they opened it ten minutes early for us! They are part of the World Owl Trust, and we had a wonderful time taking pictures of the owls. Our room was wonderful, we had a skylight and got to watch and listen to the rain. A truly world-class experience.

The facilities at the park were excellent for our 5 year old, with plenty to keep her entertained for the three days we stayed. The Meadowvole maze and the interaction with the various types of birds (owls, ducks and herons) were hugely entertaining for all of us. The sleeping arrangements were adequate for our requirements, with the added benefit of the TV lounge and kitchen/dining area at our disposal. Breakfast was excellent. The location of the castle is close to the Ravenglass/Eskdale railway which leads to many lovely areas for walking and exploring the countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would return again. The castle itself was a little bit disappointing - more of a small stately home and not the medieval stronghold our daughter hoped it would be! However, this is only a minor point and did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

Location within the grounds of Muncaster Castle provided excellent surroundings for walks and recreation. Potential guests ought to be aware that the establishment is used as a venue for functions, such as wedding receptions, etc. and this includes loud live bands playing in the courtyard area until the early hours. Apparantly this is not an unusual event, particularly on Saturdays. It is impossible not to be disturbed by the noise and we would recommend that guests should be able to check beforehand if they so wish, as this may spoil what can only be otherwise described as excellent accommodation.

This stay was very enjoyable and relaxing with lovely accommodation and a very good breakfast. The setting was idyllic with beautiful gardens and views. The aviaries were of hugh interest as was the bird show and very informative. The feeding time for the herons was an amazing sight having only ever seen one at a time. The Muncaster Castle tour was full of history and facts and the running commentary provided by the hand held gadget was very helpful. Although I did not use the cafe I did purchase plants from the shop which I thought were very reasonably priced. I would certainly visit again and would readily recommend it to friends and family.
