Setting was quirky in stable yard. Room comfortable with lovely garden view. Staff very helpful. Extra bonus was unlimited access to garden during our stay. Walks had unexpected views of magnificent aged trees and the bluebells : "a thousand saw I at a glance", with apologies to WW.

It's close proximity to the coast and mountains(Scafell) is ideal and we were given vouchers for key local attractions.

No heating in room until I complained. This was sorted but would have expected slight rental reduction. This was not offered.
An unusual set of facilities, set around a court yard. Great additional facilities for visiting grounds, castle etc.

The bed could be more comfortable.
The location was great and we went for an amazing walk around muncaster fell. Staff was really kind. The common facilities were very good - lounge, very large kitchen with several utensils and even a washing mashine. As a guest you also have access to the gardens and owl sanctuary which are really nice. Overall - great stay!

Nothing to complain about except we couldn't use our Ipad - somehow could never get on line!! But no problem.
The peace and quiet; the very friendly welcome and showing to room etc; breakfast very good choices; comfortable bed.

The feeling of the place was more £30 Youth Hostel than £80 B&B with a shared kitchen and lounge and a trek across the courtyard to find breakfast. We had to jam some card into the sash window to stop it rattling and the over sink light didn't work. Yes it was pretty basic for £80
The location and the staff were lovely

Two single beds pushed together as a double bed.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, facilities were very good especially the fully equipped kitchen, excellent location for walking, the castle tour is very informative.

No B&B signs so struggled to find it + didn't realise lady on reception would go at 5.15 + No indication there was a self catering kitchenwhich is essential to know if on foot
Proximity to castle, owls grounds and s.c. kitchen

Not being able to stay longer.
Spacious, clean accommodation. Excellent breakfast. Freedom to roam the grounds. The owl collection. Handy location for the 'other Lake District'. Additional facilities - well equipped kitchen which could be used as self-catering.

The mattress in our room was uncomfortable, though the one in our daughter's room was fine. We pointed this out to the receptionist and she took it seriously, which is a good sign.
The location was superb, set in the impressive grounds of a lovely castle. The Owl Sanctuary was delightful, especially for owl lovers like us. The shared kitchen and lounge facilities were excellent. The staff were very friendly.

Small room and the 'pine' is a bit dated
Staff great, location really nice

A night away without the bar. Bed & breakfast of good quality set in coyntry house that made you feel like lord of the manor.
September 8, 2014
We opted for bed and breakfast but there was an excellent kitchen if you wanted to make meals. Someone was always available to sort out any queries. The surrounding landscape was beautiful and we loved the fact that we could walk in the grounds when the castle was closed to the public. The owl sanctuary was a bonus and the talk given was informative and interesting. Unlike a lot of places , we found the prices in the shop and the cafe very reasonable.

The location is fantastic - right on the Castle grounds, with access outside of public hours. The service from all the staff was excellent, and reception staff were particularly helpful and accommodating.
