Nanny Brow  

We enjoyed our stay at Nanny Brow because of the attentive hosts, and luxurious rooms. Made all the more special by the beautiful setting and views of the surrounding mountains.

Lovely relaxing Hotel room was very plush views were superb Sue has put a lot of effort in to every detail of the hotel, spotless clean and a good feel about the whole place, the guy who serves breakfast could be top guy at the Ritz so efficient, the only downside was the breakfast slot 8 to 8.30 im up very early all week and by no means like to lie in bed on my days off however the slot should be minimum 8 til 9.00 . thankyou

The staff went beyond the call of duty to look after us, and suggested local mountain walks for us. The lounge had a fireplace, which was very inviting! It was very quiet and serene, great to get away from it all.

We are delighted Nanny Brow is back on the scene as a luxury stay in the area we love so much

we liked everything, the hotel is beautiful, the staff are great, very friendly and very helpful, we will definately go back, i would reccomend this hotel to everyone. very close to Ambleside village and great walks from easy to very challenging.

Wonderful location and views. Comfortable and well-appointed bedroom and batchroom. Feeling of staying in a relaxed and friendly family home. Excellent service from attentive staff.

It would be nice if breakfast times were extended. They were rather early for us.

The staff, in particular Mark, were very friendly. The room was really comfy and the breakfast was fantastic.

It is very expensive, and you can find something nearly as nice for much less nearby, but the luxury was lovely and it was a really comfortable stay They didn't realise that we'd already paid for our first night before we arrived and so presented us with a bill for the full amount before we'd even set foot in the room, which did annoy me slightly and make me feel a bit uncomfortable. The mistake was acknowledged as we checked out but I think this should have been addressed more promptly.

We made a last minute decision to stay here and I'm so glad that we did. The house and grounds were just perfect and we felt at home from the minute we arrived. We genuinely can't find a bad word to say about this place. The food is sourced locally and was beautifully prepared and presented. Peter, Mark and Emma couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend a stay at Nanny Brow.

The location, close to routes to all parts of Lake District and evening dining facilities of Ambleside. The excellent suite and 'in house' facilities, together with wonderful morning vistas across countryside. Friendly attitude of owners.

We enjoyed an excellent stay at Nanny Brow. Location was ideal, within minutes from Ambleside. Very high standard of accommodation, superb breakfast and staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The owners were equally accommodating and very friendly and helpful. Nice touch was home made cakes left in your room each afternoon. Highly recommended as a venue for relaxtion and as a base for visiting surrounding areas. Room was large with views over countryside and mountains, large bathroom with two basins and double shower. Nanny Brow is a place to revisit -often, if time allows!

The breakfast was excellent and the location brilliant unfortunately, the owners failed to even consider apologising or making a valid explanation other than to suggest it hasn't happened before and usually the fan goes off after 10 mins. Very very poor we are expwerienced travellers and have ben all around the Lakes

The bathroom fan stayed on and interrupted our sleep after 40 minutes I had to phone to complain and was advised it usually goes off after 10 mins and given I was 6' tall I only had to press the override switch above the door for it to go off which, I didn't know about. I wasn't there to carry out maintenance. An explanation and apology would have been more helpful! The introduction was a cold greeting by the owner's and this ended the same in the night by her response to phoning about the fan- she was clearly unimpressed. We paid £210 for one night and will never go there again!

the room with a view. comfort. quiet.

very short window for breakfast 8-830am. seems designed around the staff rather than the customer. upside is it makes sure you get out of bed in the morning and get going.

This place is a gem. The proprietors are friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the walking opportunities in the area, where to shop for walking equipment and are able to recommend places to eat. The views are stunning, decor and facilities amazing and quality of breakfasts delicious and locally sourced. We loved our room and the lovingly restored building that is clearly a passion for the owners. We will definately return in the near future and are already booked into their other property in the Cotswolds, as we can be assured of quality of service and amenities. We wish them luck in their continuing restoration of Nanny Brow.

There was nothing to criticise about our stay.

The owners made us feel at home, every little wish was taken care of graciously. It waslittle extras that made the difference, large bottles of toiletries which were filled daily, breakfast to suit our needs, a chat when we came 'home', information on how to make the best of our days whether sunny or overcast. The dog to wag its tail as we arrived, the stunning views - too many positives to mention

Perhaps it was stretching it to walk in for dinner in the evening so we took the car which meant that one of us didnt drink.

A great weekend away, 5 star accomodation and wonderful breakfasts. A fantastic walk from Nanny Brow with great views over Windemere and Grasmere. Only 3 minutes in a taxi to town and extremely helpful stafff keen to look after you. See you again.

Beautifully designed arts and crafts house with warmth and character

Wonderful, luxury guest house, beautifully renovated and decorated with some splendid antiques. Add to this, the welcoming and friendly hosts, delicious breakfasts and lovely location, Nanny Brow is a delight! We will definitely return. Thank you.

In short Nanny Brow is peaceful, tranquil, the height of luxury, clean and just a fabulous house which is much more than a BB. All the staff are extremely efficient, always pleasant and helpful. The standard of food is excellent and each day we had a home made cake with our tea. We had a super honeymoon here and will return again in the near future. The location just outside Ambleside was perfect as it is away from the hussle and bussle but close enough for taxis in the evening. The owners also have a lovely dog called miffy. We had a lovely break at nanny brow.

This place was a total delight. We were warmly welcomed and assisted with luggage, believe me not a given in the UK! Our room was bright ,airy, spacious and had a beautiful view. The inclusive breakfast was a delectable selection from a menu, together with a glorious array of jams purchased by Sue from the Cotswolds. The owners could not do enough for you and there were many offers of freshly made cake, sometimes left on your bedroom table to welcome you back after a long day. This is accommodation at it's best. Everything worked well, wifi throughout the location. Bravo.
