The whole experience was lovely. Staff couldnt do enough for you. Our room was beautiful. The food was faultless. Will defenetly return
The Nateos is in a very tranquile setting, with beautiful surroundings.
Unfortunately there was a family of four staying, of which two were young boys ( say 8 & 10). The parents had little control over them, therefore they ran riot each evening when other guests were having their evening meal. There were a lot of raised eyebrows, so it spoilt our visit to a certain extent.
The quiet surroundings, the comfortable bed, the friendly staff - all outstanding. The balance between an old mansion and a contemporary renovation (e.g. bathroom) is well thought out.
food, rooms and staff were up to the highest standards
Friendly but very professional staff. Tranquil and very secluded setting. Well-evidenced history. Characterful, Listed Building. Modern facilities tastefully incorporated into original features. Excellent bed and bedding, so we slept very soundly. Great menu, beautifully presented cuisine, very enjoyable evening. Well-stocked bar. Good choice of reasonably-priced dinner wines. Pleasant grounds (but see dislikes).
Our ground-floor room was in an annex at rear of hotel, and we had to cross a small courtyard to get to it, in the rain. The 'bathroom' did not have a bath. It was a very large open-plan wet-room, equipped for disabled users, and its' functionality (fold-down shower seat; grab handles around that and the toilet; two red alarm cords; adapted second washbasin etc) ruined its' charm. I accidentally triggered the alarm, and the receptionist did not know how to turn it off. It had two washbasins, but one was very low, for wheelchair-users. Water from the shower bounced and spread across whole floor. Nowhere safe to hang dry clothes - two wall pegs were too close to the shower, so dry clothes got splashed; and the wet floor made it impossible to get dressed in the bathroom. Nowhere to place soap, shampoo, or shower gel etc whilst showering. Main washbasin was very large, projecting two feet from the wall. The lack of a light over the mirror made it difficult to see in order to wet-shave. the basin took several minutes to empty (maybe drain partially blocked?). Windows were single-glazed, sash-cord. No net curtains or blinds to provide privacy in bedroom - with curtains open, everyone walking by, or looking out of the main building could see across the whole bedroom. Walled 'kitchen garden' was set to lawn and devoid of any plants. These negative points spoiled an otherwise extremely enjoyable stay, and made the room rate seem too high.
We stayed in a room named Formosa towards the rear of the hotel, the room had a free standing fan and air conditioning unit placed in it. The room was unbearably warm, the fan and air conditioning unit noisy, so unable to get a full nights sleep. The bed had been moved away from the bedside lamps and tables to the other side of the room thus rendering them useless. Not quite what you would expect from a hotel of this standard, very strange!
the atmosphere is great to escape the busy city and the over crowded beach rendezvous that many flock to in the summer. Just lay back and enjoy the quiet natural setting and the beautiful green landscapes.
The staff can be some what of a chore to find. However they are very accommodating.
Quiet beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent hospitality. This is a superb hotel that we will definitely return to. The location is stunning and the house is beautifully restored. Attention to detail is exemplary and our dinner and breakfast were both devine.
Very peaceful location. Lovely grounds. Wonderful views from our room. Food excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast served in original kitchen.
Service excellent generally but Sunday morning breakfast service a bit slow when most guests choice same time to arrive.
Everything! I felt instantly like I'd arrived home, rather than at a hotel, although a distinctly grander home than normal obviously! Nothing was too much trouble, the decor is beautiful and the food was simply stunning - both at dinner and breakfast. Can't wait to go back!
The fact that I had to leave!
They swopped the rooms because we wanted a bath-with no fuss and it was an amazing .Interesting historically and yet modern and very comfortable.
Beautiful 'aura' about this magic place! Staff were very friendly and informative! We loved our stay!
Fantastic staff, great breakfast, good restaurant, very pleasant rooms
Can be difficult to find if you don't pay attention to the road signs!
We love the surrounding area of Nanteos.
Not able to access to internet.
The level of service was fantastic. Fresh coffee and waffles on arrival so we didn't have to make our own and settle in to our new room easily.
all food was very good.
amateurish service by dining room staff. Outside Fire door in bedroom which meant there was no lock, & open to all comers.
Beautiful place and setting, very comfortable. Staff very friendly, helpful, and efficient.
Food was a little disappointing - perfectly edible but not quite up to the standard that might be expected at this level. Maybe just a bad night for the chef.
Staff we're very friendly
The staff were very attentive in this relatively new hotel. It has retained the charm of an old country house and is very close to Aberystwyth.
We stayed in Hafron a ground floor room but it had a constant drone of noise from the ceiling all night which was not helpful. In addition small garden creatures, worm like, with tiny legs regularly appeared in the room. My advice is not to stay in Hafron.
The atmosphere, other worldly. Totally relaxed and luxurious. Staff go out of their way to help you.
Wasn't told there was wifi. Had problem getting reception on my mobile phone in my room.
Ambience, friendliness of staff and their efficiency, quality of food very good.
Lack of signage for access
lovely place and good quality rooms and service
No hot water on last day / night
THE LOCATION HOTEL / FOOD / SERVICE
beautiful location. slices of cake being sent to our room, free of charge, after requesting a clean suit & being informed that we had booked the hotel for a birthday celebration.
we booked the honeymoon suit, which was advertised as being suitable for x2 adults up to x2 children on this website at a discounted price (paid £130, not £300). only to be informed by the hotel receptionist that it was not. offered a family suit, after being informed that it was more suitable for x2 adults 1 child, readily accepted. unfortunately the suit was filthy, informed that as we had arrived at check in time, it had probably not yet been cleaned?? provided with an alternative standard room, not the honeymoon suit which was originally booked. lovely room, but not what we had booked at the above mentioned discounted price..... left feeling rather cheated.....
