Nent Hall offers a charming destination to enjoy a relaxing break. Set in peaceful grounds, the hotel is only a short drive from the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall and much more. Nent Hall Coutry House Hotel is a haven of tranquility; perfect for those who want to get from it all. The hotel has recently undergone major refurbishment and all rooms offer comfort in a stylish country house setting. During your stay you can enjoy strolls along the banks of the Nent River, wander round the cobbled lanes of nearby Alston or walk up to several vantage points, where the whole valley is spread out below you. Value for money. Bedding and towels were of good quality and the breakfast was of a high standard. Creaking beds and floors and poor sound insulation did not make for the best nights sleep however, that said once everyone settled we did sleep okay. The hotel accepts dogs however the barking was a little off putting - although certainly not allowed to become a major issue. Given the price paid and what was received this is a fair overnight product and I would stay again but not in the same room.

The food was ok. We've just stayed at four different hotels of which this was one. I'm sad to say this us the only one I wouldnt return to. The minute you walked through the door, the hotel smelt of stale food. The place needs a lot of refurbishment and the staff were peculiar - what gives with the bleached blonde woman talking to people in a child like voice? Never never again - and it was the most expensive. In summary it was shoddy and very disappointing. The phrase country house hotel conjours up a hotel that is far far nicer than this actually was. I'd attach an image if the view out of my window but I can't so you're saved from that horror at least.

The staff are lovely and friendly. This is a peaceful retreat in the country perfect for a relaxing weekend. Breakfast is really good. I have been the Nent Hall many times over the last 10 years and although it is always a great place to be the wing room we were given was looking a bit tired and lacking in attention to details (missing towel rail, loose sink plug etc). We will stick to the main house rooms in future.

Beautiful situation in remote, wild countryside, however, close to small market town with lots of places to eat and good local pubs; very nice bar next to actual hotel. Very impressive stone ancient-looking building - nice entrance with plenty of parking. Interior very well appointed - traditional in style with luxurious fittings, sofas, old paintings etc. Spacious bedroom, clean, warm, good views, plenty of hot water! Food excellent. Staff very professional, friendly and accommodating - not stuck within time restrictions like most hotels! Very caring and happy to be of service.

Some of the staff were really friendly and that matters a lot in a hotel like this. We travelled as a group of 4 Porsches and the parking facilities were great. Overall the cost and location are a winner. Squeaky beds and noisy pipes meant that we did not get the best rest. Dinner in the restaurant was a bit hit and miss. The presentation was good but there was a vagueness in the way the order was taken and the drinks were served that left us slightly ill at ease. Some of or group did not like their main courses although mine was delicious.

Eccentric country house with excellent staff. Only cons were a very uncomfortable bed and carpet in the bathroom that we felt was unhygienic.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and it is attached to a pub/restaurant that serves excellent food. Lovely quiet location, in the hills. Beautiful. Will definitely stay again

We went to Nent Hall whilst doing the C2C ride. The staff were only happy to help when we asked for an earlier breakfast. The food was excellent. Would happily come back again (without the bikes though).

Comfortable, relaxed hotel with friendly staff. The bar food was very good value for money. The hotel is right on the road so don't follow the sat nav down any country lanes! Parking was nice and easy. WIFI did not work in our room, but was available in the lounge downstairs.

The setting of the hotel is superb. The greeting on arrival was welcoming. The spacious lounge and restaurant downstairs were well presented and the restaurant was bathed in sunshine at breakfast time - a good start to the day! There was a wide, plentiful choice for breakfast and the full English breakfast was cooked to order. Our room upstairs was not spacious. Being a four poster room the expectation was for something larger . As it was, the bed filled most of the room and the charm of a four poster was completely lost in the constriction of space. The wall between our room and the adjoining one was obviously thin and we could hear the activity in there. Comfort in the en-suite was spoilt by the fact that the window could not be closed and it was therefore quite cold.

Friendliness of staff and relaxed manner. The bar area is a little small and it is designed more for eating rather than just a drink. Having said that the residents lounge was available to take your drinks to.

The location was excellent for my wife and I to explore the Cumbria and Northumberland countryside, particularly, Hadrians Wall which was only 30 to 35 miles away and a very pleasent drive through stunning countryside whichever direction you chose to travel. Also, to explore Teesdale and the High Force waterfalls only a few miles away and again absolutely stunning countryside. We found the hotel to be in a quiet, peaceful and relaxing location which was just what we wanted and would have no hesitation in returning there as we intend to continue with our exploration of the Cumbria and Northumberland next year, possibly with a longer stay. We liked everything about the Hotel especially the Full English Breakfast.

It was in a peaceful location in the countryside. The food and service was excellent. All members of staff were very friendly. The only fault we had was that the room we were in - room 26, the bed looked as if it had once been a four poster bed, but the posts had been removed and as soon as you got onto the bed, the noises from the frame of the bed were horrendous. We were frightened to even turn over in the bed because of the noise it made. As I said before, this is our only complaint and it certainly wouldn't deter us from stopping at this hotel again.

The hotel is rather 'tired'. The room (19) was reasonable, but the 'restaurant' was poor. The so called coffee was nothing more than hot coloured water. Sorry to be so negative.

The location was wonderful, easy to find. The grounds would have been lovely to sit in had the weather been kinder and the grass shorter! I felt the hotel needed a little more tlc, the skirting boards in the room were dusty and the carpets generally looked like they needed a good hoovering - nothing that an extra pair of hands cant put right

The hotel is perfectly sited for visiting the dales, and moors. The bedroom with the four poster bed was excellent. The service and food was also excellent/ The only downside was that the restaurant was not open and we had to eat in the bar, as the restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday night. It is good value and definitely worth a visit. The only downside is that the restaurant is only open on Fiday and Saturday nights, so we had to eat in the bar, even though the food was very good.

It was very welcoming and the food in the restaurant was delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and quiet and it was perfect for our overnight stay. The corridors smelt of fried, greasy food and so did the bar. The breakfast wasn't great in the morning and it was quit expensive for what it was.

Staff were very welcoming, room was good, clean and warm (in fact too warm in the night but we should have opened the window). Food was good and good value. Quiet, but there were't many people staying. Was closer to the main road than we had expected, but there wasn't too much traffic.
