Loved the hotel location,(if quite a hike to walk down the cobbles) sea & roof view, ambience, food, attentive staff, Clovelly's wonderful history and the Herring Festival atmosphere. Totally relaxing.
There was a loose bedspring in the mattress!
The gorgeous town, quaint pub and our room was gorgeous, comfy with a view of the street and sea... Meal was ok, but staff were great.
The staff were great and the breakfast too
The bed was lumpy
The room with a view. The village and location
Unique location. Building full of character next cobbled street of Clovelly. Breakfasts were v. good. Staff charming. Good base for coastal walks. Luggage taken to / from hotel for you (essential).
Steep climb on cobbled path both up and down from hotel. Virtually had to have dinner there; access to other places not easy. Good but typical pub meals only. Room a little cosy!
Tv didn't work Curtains didn't close Bathroom problems Old and shabby carpet Breakfast room had poor furniture Expensive
Everything, had a fantastic long weekend break lovely place, clean, friendly staff, couldn't wish for more.
Nothing to dislike
Included an ensuite, had an attached bar/restaurant, unique building and location. Not like any other place in the world where we have stayed.
Clovelly when the tourists have gone home. Comfy bed. New bedroom carpet and bathroom. Room with rooftop view to the sea. Easy access to coast paths.
This hotel could be so much better - it needs money spent on replacing the dusty, faded soft furnishings - it reminded us of a tired trusthouse forte hotel from the 1970's. The dead pot plant on the hallway window sill.. The kitchen door propped open with plastic tub of Marmite sachets!
Convience, considering the steep hill. Breakfast good as was the quantity.
Breakfast waiter should ask whether the customer wants tea or coffee instead of bringing both without asking. Bar area on Saturday evening was empty.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and quaint!
The price I paid was three times as much as what they were advertising when I arrived.
I liked the location, the style and the food
Nothing to dislike
Lovely clean relaxing room very quaint. Comfortable, very good value my husband loved the choice of kippers on the menu for breakfast.....
Coffee at breakfast.... Tasted awful
Good location at Up-A-Long and Down-A-Long
None that can think of
Great room with an excellent view of the cobbled streets and the sea. The balcony was a super surprise bonus too. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely stay in a beautiful place.
I like Clovelly and everything in it!
This is very personal, I find carrying my luggage down and up from New Inn is quite a struggle.
Room with sea view is so romantic. Clovelly is unique and utterly charming. Some nice touches in the room e.g. local books. Perfect Devon atmosphere.
Very comfortable Fantastic location Lovely when the day trippers had gone home
The vegetarian options were very poor and the meal - burger and chips ( through lack of choice) lacked any taste. At times the staff were totally run off their feet but remained very nice. The coffee at breakfast was as usual unpleasant. When will hotels offer real coffee??
Staff friendly and helpful. Food in the pub was excellent and great value for money.
Bed was as hard as a rock.
Room was lovely, with good facilities. Staff great. Breakfast good. Excellent atmosphere.
Lighting in the room was feeble at best. Only one tiny wall light & 2 bedside lamps which didn't cast much light.
The actual location was beautiful, but only two places to eat in the village. Food at the New Inn was excellent.
Clovelly is a vertical village, once you have parked at the visitors centre you should ensure you take everything with you, you will not want to keep popping back to the car. This would not stop me going back. The Hotel offers to bring luggage down.
Everything was just perfect
There was nothing not to like
Just perfect!! It is what it is!! Don't expect any more and you'll be happy!!! The old ness is all part of the charm if you modernised it you would spoil it!! My partner and I loved it!!!
There was nothing negative to say
