I liked the location, the style and the food
Nothing to dislike
Lovely clean relaxing room very quaint. Comfortable, very good value my husband loved the choice of kippers on the menu for breakfast.....
Coffee at breakfast.... Tasted awful
Good location at Up-A-Long and Down-A-Long
None that can think of
Great room with an excellent view of the cobbled streets and the sea. The balcony was a super surprise bonus too. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely stay in a beautiful place.
I like Clovelly and everything in it!
This is very personal, I find carrying my luggage down and up from New Inn is quite a struggle.
Room with sea view is so romantic. Clovelly is unique and utterly charming. Some nice touches in the room e.g. local books. Perfect Devon atmosphere.
Very comfortable Fantastic location Lovely when the day trippers had gone home
The vegetarian options were very poor and the meal - burger and chips ( through lack of choice) lacked any taste. At times the staff were totally run off their feet but remained very nice. The coffee at breakfast was as usual unpleasant. When will hotels offer real coffee??
Staff friendly and helpful. Food in the pub was excellent and great value for money.
Bed was as hard as a rock.
Room was lovely, with good facilities. Staff great. Breakfast good. Excellent atmosphere.
Lighting in the room was feeble at best. Only one tiny wall light & 2 bedside lamps which didn't cast much light.
The actual location was beautiful, but only two places to eat in the village. Food at the New Inn was excellent.
Clovelly is a vertical village, once you have parked at the visitors centre you should ensure you take everything with you, you will not want to keep popping back to the car. This would not stop me going back. The Hotel offers to bring luggage down.
Everything was just perfect
There was nothing not to like
Just perfect!! It is what it is!! Don't expect any more and you'll be happy!!! The old ness is all part of the charm if you modernised it you would spoil it!! My partner and I loved it!!!
There was nothing negative to say
Fantastic views, comfortable room friendly helpful staff. Very good breakfast.
Location a little hard to get to with bags. Dinner menu and food not that exciting.
Location, quaintness of hotel, homey feel, staff very nice, breakfast was delicious.
Could have had more toiletries, soap, lotions etc.
The inn is situated right in the middle of Clovelly which is a beautiful place. The room was really comfortable and even had a large balcony looking out over the cobbled streets. It was really quiet in the evenings. You could eat bar food at the inn or there is another good restaurant nearby. Ideally located for walking the coast path.
Liked it all
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel surroundings are lovely although its location would not be suitable for anybody with a mobility problem. Breakfasts were very good. We would certainly go again.
I thought the dinner menu was rather unimaginative with a distinct lack of healthier options. The hotel is located on a very steep road leading through the village and with the car park at the top of the hill. Before Easter there is no transport provided for luggage so suitcases have to be manhandled several hundred yards to the top of the hill by guests.
It was so lovely and tranquil. The staff were very friendly. The food was lovely, well presented, quick and good value for money. We would definitely go back.
Nothing to complain about at all
I loved my stay in Clovelly. However, some of the positives (such as the hotel's location) that I have included below could be interpreted as negatives. Clovelly is a delightful, traffic-free, little village. The New Inn, located about half-way down, is reached from the car park at the top of the village by walking down a steep cobbled street. Be sure to pack light as you have to haul your belongings down to the hotel. The room I had was large, very well appointed and impeccably clean. It had French doors that opened on to a balcony overlooking the main street. It also had a small window from which one could catch a glimpse of the ocean. Clovelly can be quite busy with tourists during the day, but it is really quiet between 5 PM and 10 AM. Food was only available from 6 PM until 7 PM, too early for my liking. However, the Red Lion, located at the bottom of the street, serves food until 8:30 PM. Both parking (at the top) and admission to the village are free to residents of the New Inn.
a friendly hotel a comfortable nights sleep followed by an amazing English breakfast all in all a very pleasant weekend.
wonderful location, beautiful room, very friendly team
That breakfast was served in a dining room. The menu for b/fast was excellent.
Evening meals served in bar area.
Everything was closed.breakfast and dinner in a 1hr time slot.by the coast and no fish on menu
Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
We were disappointed that the only option for eating in the evening was from the bar menu. The food was wholesome and tasty, but we would have enjoyed a bigger choice of foood, as served in the dining room.
Lots of character to the place, evening meal was delicious.
Hotel is really overpriced but can get away with it because there is little/no competition locally. Room was comfortable but cleanliness was poor (leftover soap in shower, bins not emptied, many cobwebs). Matress while comfortable was very lumpy and could do with being replaced.
