Score from 398 reviews Very good
Room was reasonably sized. Very good location.
Night club below had direct access to the stairs where the rooms are. The noise always woke you up at 3.30 in the morning.
Provided clean and comfortable essentials for a nights sleep
Sleazy night club ambiance was not to my taste.
staff was friendly
breakfast was the worst i eaten in 20 years
Friendly staff and nice location, large comfy room ,
Very well located Pleasant Staff Lift to second floor Good sized room Good En-suite Clean and tidy room Simple but adequate breakfast in pleasant surroundings - with excellent views Wished we had asked for a sea view
Not so much a hotel - more a B and B Very basic communal areas with no lounge - as expected in a hotel Not sure if it knows what to be as the bar and the night club dominate Has it really got 40 rooms? If so, there must be other access points Although presently being refurbished, the exterior is in need of much TLC
Excellent sea view. Great room. Clean. Service very good.
Wedding reception held at the hotel was rather disruptive and slightly inconvenient for guests who gave paid for a service that's primarily for hotel guests. Uncomfortable.
Location Cheap Good view
Bit noisy during night
Good location, clean rooms.
Hot water was somewhat lacking.
location was superb and the staff were very friendly
bit dated but was still ok to stay in
location wi-fi coffee/tea in the room
noises from the street not customer friendly
Good location and friendly staff, good views from the sea view rooms.
Very poor noise insulation from the windows, if you like your sleep don't have the sea view rooms.
We loved our sea view from our window..! the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was our first time to Brighton and the children had a brilliant time.
We felt that the bathroom could have been cleaner, the sink and bath plugs were very dirty . However the service and facilities were good.
money taken from debit card for no goods / services recieved, spoke with hotel and the lady was very polite but said have no idea what its for or any offer of refund. staff very slow at check in, made to wait 20 mins while they had personal chat.
Location....bar and nightclub downstairs and helpful at reception.
Could be noisy and windows rattled a bit in the wind...mirrors on the wall in room 322 were for a midget(sorry).
Location, location, location. Views of Sea, Beach and Pier were superb. Within walking distance of all that Brighton has to offer...and there really is something for everyone ! It would be easy to criticise what The New Madeira has to offer in terms of comparison with other available accommodation, but for our stay, which was mid-week, late August, The New Madeira suited our needs and surprisingly exceeded our expectations. Our triple room was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Seating outside was a bonus. We will definitely visit again.
What didn't we like ?.... not much really. I was our first visit to Brighton, which seemed incredibly easy going and relaxed and there was nothing about our stay at The New Madeira that made our time any less enjoyable.
The entrance to the hotel is newly decorated and finished to a high standard. Beds were comfy and offered a the option of bath or shower.
You can tell that the hotel is going through a renervation as the corridors on the third floor were in need of new carpet. This was also true of the bedroom and the bathroom suit looked tired.
There was nothing not to like!
The location (seafront). The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast for the cost wasn't bad.
The price for the state of the place. This is a very tired hotel. Single glazing in our room next to a busy road. A rotting balcony. Creaking uneven floors. Narrow corridors and stairwells. And the Funky Fish nightclub downstairs which is open midweek (we stayed on a Tuesday) as well as weekends. Brighton hotels are hugely overpriced. We thought £100 would be enough for a decent room. Wrong. Pay £30 more and stay elsewhere.
Friendly staff, very nice room with anmenities and wifi. Lovely breakfast room.
there was nothing to dislike.
beds very comfortable, room very clean, great location. Free WiFi. Good disco on Fridays and Saturdays.
Looks a bit tired from the outside.
STAFF FOOD ROOM GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
pleasant, near all the attractions buses nearby bars and resturarants going back again in 4 weeks staff are pleasant felt comfortable .
Very noisy at night.
Location is ideal, right on the seafront and if you're in room 101, a perfect view of the Brighton Wheel! Only a few minutes from everything you could need! The staff were generally friendly, the woman at reception very much so but if you enter the hotel late at night (after 10 / 11), then the older man on reception can be a little brash. We had two twin rooms and both were clean and tidy, with room service maintaining this during our short stay. We left late (well after check-out) on our last day but the staff were happy to look after our bags for the day.
The nightclub - Fridays / Saturdays only. We arrived on a Saturday and were warned about how noisy it could be (it's part of the hotel / under it). They weren't lying... We fortunately had a night out and ended up finishing the night (at 3am) in the nightclub but one of our rooms (101) was next to one of the fire exits for the club! I can only imagine getting any sleep while the club is on to be very difficult. A great hotel but let down immensely by the nightclub.
Easy access to beach and town. Parking is available.
Bath a bit tiny, but its job.
