Location was good, we had a weekend break & the stroll to town was pleasant. The room was old but clean, bathroom was fine , clean & bright, nice tiles. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable, as springs felt through. Breakfast was very good, the best assortment of fruit I've had in a long time ,nice plump prunes instead of dried up ones, all very good.Lounge and bar very nice & friendly staff. Receptionists very helpful too. I have already recommended it to friends. We will come again if the price is right!!Thank you. Only that things got a bit more worn the higher upstairs you got. And the bed.

Very cosy hotel, warm and comfortable, nice breakfast and very spacious and quiet room with comfortable beds. Clean, wonderful indoor swimming pool with lovely sauna. Great location for Peak District. Quite charming as well. It took a while for them to clean our room when we arrives, apart from that, very happy.

Well situated at a quiet end of the town. Food was good but not outstanding (breakfast and dinner) Some staff were really slow. Hotel felt understaffed and I often had to wait at reception for staff to come off other duties.

Our room was dirty when we arrived with soiled towels and huge cobwebs. Mattress was lumpy and fittings were very tired, even holes in the door! Food was expensive, £12.95 for breakfast. Indoor pool was dirty and very unappealing, outdoor pool, of which we had a good view, was also filthy. Staff were unhelpful.

Warm room, plenty of tea and coffee. Balcony . We arrived before the 2 check in time so wandered into Matlock bath, we got back at 2 and was given a key to room 70 the hotel is like a maze, we eventually found the room and open the door to the worse mess every, we weren't the only ones when we got to reception the others that had checked in were facing the same problem we were promised the room would be ready. We headed to bakewell and then to Matlock then back into Matlock bath this was 8 hours later and yes the room still weren't ready, we went down and spoke to the duty manager as there was a wedding on there was no other rooms available, we came to some agreement with the duty manager and went into the bar and had a drink eventually we waited 30 mins and there was only 6 waiting at bar, room was ready after a hour.

The location was perfect for our stay Having a young son with us we found we could only eat on the Sunday evening if we went into the Main restaurant and paid £22.00 a head. There was no other menu available so we had to go out. There were other couples with the same view that £22.00 was quite expensive and if other food was available they would have eaten in the Hotel also.

The standard of the room and decor was excellent. Perhaps a little tired and in need of some money spent on it. Has a great presence though.

The location and price mainly Cleanliness e.g hairs in bath, bed not made correctly even had ripped sheets on it, cleaner didn't arrive till late afternoon, Me and my friend cleaned the bathroom, Mugs and bed Noise in the hall way at night (people walking past with keys) Me and my friend were seen as a gay couple due to the fact the room was a double not a twin we didn't complain due to only being there 2 nights but made us feel uncomftable View from room wasn't as nice as advertised

At first felt like this was the hotel that time forgot, hotel in need off little care and attention in places. Initially there was no staff seemed like 2 staff only running reception and trying to serve an influx of people at the bar, the staff clearly were not prepared. We chose not to dine in the main restaurant purely because we had young children who would have been restless, so ate in the bar area. On asking if we could have the childrens menu we were refused yet they served this across the corrider in the restaurant...thus purely angered ne,no flexibility. However the food we did order was very good, to an excellent standard as was breakfast. The family room we stayed in was comfortable, although if you were a family of 4 no good as it would have been 3 in a double and 1 in a camp bed, not really that suitable. Overall a pleasant stay, the staff were friendly and ameniable. Not enough staff on arrival,no one to serve drinks at the bar left waiting, disorganized and unprepared. In bar area used plates and cups which looked lie they had been there a while, and stayed there for a few hours until someone came to move them.

Location was perfect for us as we wanted to be near the cable cars and the trip up Abraham Heights to the caves, etc. We liked the sauna and the plunge pool. Breakfast time was very disorganised, glasses and juice got empty very quickly and had to be brought to the staff's attention each morning! The room which we were in was nice but was out of the main house and felt like we were in a dormitary, would of been nice to of stayed in the main house. Also seemed as if the room we were in hadn't been used for sometime as there was cobwebs all across the windows! Very dissappointed that there was no free wi-fi.

A Grand old hotel. Big but cosy and charming. Large rooms, victorian style, great views. Great location in Matlock Bath but a little up the road from the hustle & bustle so more tranquil. Retaurant - food was absolutely gorgeous and great price. Because the hotel is old the floor is creaky, so when people in the room above you are walking around their room you hear every creak! But really nothing to moan about.

Location This is a tired old hotel which was a great disappointment. We came down to breakfast to find a Que of people waiting to be seated in the restaurant with the probable wait of 20 minutes we decided to get our money back and ate else where.

Very nice building, obviously being restored, rooms were very nice ambience. Buildings at the rear were in a poor state of repair. Knock them down if you are not going to do anything with them. Not one English beer on offer. Why?????? 2 Irish and 3 continental. Are you trying to suppress UK beers? Why?
