I understood that the renovations had finished but they are still on-going. They started at 8.20am and stopped at 4.35pm. I think it will be nice when it has been finished.
Customer service from most staff was quite poor - from reception staff, to main waitress, and pub barman. Quite rude, not very engaging. Heating was on full blast in our room which we could not adjust, asked the reception twice to deal with this to no avail. Waited over an hour for breakfast (when others who arrived afterwards) received their breakfast before ours. Will definitely return to Lake district, but not to Newby Bridge hotel.
Very cosy pub which had a good atmosphere. Bed was very comfy and rooms of good size.
Limited wiFi access.
Superb staff Good food
no wifi in room
nice bed.nice room. nice tv
Got a cup of coffee in the bar and the girl serving put her hands inside the cup and the jug for the milk.
Location, the bedroom was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Damp smell in room
The Swan Hotel on the opposite side to this one.
Jacuzzi bath didn't work. Room not very clean and four poster was uninspired - no drapes, just a curtain rail with nothing attached. Lighting in room/bathroom very poor.If they can serve a pot of tea at breakfast why not a pot of coffee? Couldn't book the restaurant after 5pm. Not worth the money.
Staff were mostly friendly and helpful.
Food menu left a lot to be desired, looked as though you'd be ordering a wetherspoons meal (microwaved) may not be the case but it put us off having the breakfast which is included in the price.
Jacuzzi en-suite was amazing but decor and windows etc need updating. Reception staff friendly but in the bar different story. 2 girls working 1 new and did her best to take our drinks order while asking advice from the other who didn't care about us or the other staff
We had a four poster bedroom with jacuzzi. I probably wouldn't bother with this again, as the room wasn't as large as I was expecting, I should imagine the normal double room is equally as good. The heat in the jacuzzi I found a bit stiffling, but that is just personal taste, and there wasn't really room for 2, so defeated the object. But again, thats personal taste. Apart from that, no dislikes at all, fantastic hotel for the price.
The food was fantastic, the breakfasts had so much choice and all cooked to perfection, warmed croissants were to die for, sausages, bacon and eggs delicious. We also had a bar meal, which was excellent as well, and the 3 course meal in the restaurant, equally delicious. Great location with plenty to do and stunning scenery. Staff were friendly and helpful, waiting staff were particularly good. Hotel was built in 1700 or something like that, so very characteristic and cosy, had a fantastic weekend.
Location Staff Food
dark, old fashioned oak panelling makes the place dreary. Every thing needs updating however the beds were very comfortable and the place was warm and value for money.
That pets are welcome.Had a great weekend here, will go back.
The rest of the hotel could do with a make-over
Rooms very nice lovely bathroom
Bar and breakfast areas in need of some tlc
views and setting were fantastic. Staff very attentive and helpful. Bar food good and plentiful.
ROOM 18 - I think this room was allocated due to my booking through "Late Rooms" it was cramped, dusty and a hazard due to very low ceiling beams on the way up to the top floor and the beams in the room. The jacuzzi bath needs to be cleaned (jets). The bed I did not find comfortable. I viewed it as "its just a bed to sleep in for 1 night" Not the usual standard that we have come to know at the Newby Bridge.
Its old world charm. Cozy bar and lovely food. Prior to this visit Ive never had a negative note to make. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Would suggest swimming pool changing rooms are reviewed, too small, no lockers and inappropriate with young children!
Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. General feel of hotel good.
the free upgrade
There was a lot of stain from damp on one of the walls in our room but apart from that, everything was really nice apart from the shower, the mixers worked for the bath but not the shower. Bummer! Just meant we had to have nice, long, hot baths lol!
Loved the grounds, the location and the breakfasts were awesome. Also the reception staff were very accommodating when we were faced with a family crisis.
Some of the bedrooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. There were many temporary staff in the restaurant & the feel of the place changed depending on who you were dealing with.
The food in the restaurant was of a good standard & variety.
The light fitting in jasmine 3 needed taking down and given a good clean.
Run down and filthy we stayed in an annexe off the hotel it was filthy very disappointed
Nothing to dislike.
It was our 32nd wedding anniversary, upgraded to the bridal suite no extra cost. Staff fantastic, had a three course meal, every thing done to perfection, had a wonderful weekend.
the bar area needs updating. disappointed steam room was out of order had to eat elsewhere on 2nd night as alot of menu options where sold out. shower in room ran hot and cold brrrrr
quiet getaway.helpful friendly staff quality food. cleanliness of room. pool and jacuzzi
The staff were very accommodating and nothing was a bother for them. Very helpful and friendly. Dogs were very much welcome and fussed over!
The pool area was very basic with limited changing facilities. Only 1 person could change at a time and several guests were waiting. The hotel corridor carpets were also quite dirty and lots of cobwebs in corners. The room windows were quite dirty and lacked any safety features.
The hotel bar food was tasty and good value for money. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The view from the window over the garden was lovely.
