Budget economy and value for brief short stay En-suite smelled of dampness and vinyl flooring lifting in ensuite causing unpleasant smell in bedroom. Would have asked to move if staying longer. Ceiling from below upstairs en-suite water damaged obvious flood from bathroom above not repaired. Tap to washbasin no chain .

Did not like the room. The decor was dated, tired and dismal, and had an musky smell about it. Did not enjoy the full English breakfast. The bacon was so salty it was inedible, and the fried eggs had raw white on top. There was food on the carpet at our table and we were the first guests to sit there that morning.

Very noisy floor boards in the bedroom ,i mean very bad, room 6. We paid for breakfast and went down stairs at 8.45am.the coffee was almost cold ,tea also.Everything on the plate apart from the egg was reheated in oil and looked disgusting. If we had wanted another drink at 1 minute past 9 everything was moved away and i heard staff being offered coissants and fruit.I know it was supposed to finish at 9 but it was very rude not to ask if we needed anything .I didnt complain and i wish i had has i am very angry about the situation .It is also right to say both myself and my husband had a dodgy stomach while driving home after breakfast ,nothing serious just far too much oil after warming up bacon sausage and mushroomsWe will not use the hotel again and not reccomend it .To be fair the hotel was very clean, but thats it.

The price, I kept thinking I had made a mistake - £39.00 for both of us. We stayed as we were attending a function on Saturday 3rd December. Room spacious, nice and clean, tea and coffee facilities but other than that fairly basic, which is acceptable considering the price. When we arrived we couldn't get the television to work. No phone in the room so my husband had to go to reception to inform them. A young member of staff (Tom) came up to the room and he couldn't get it to work. He called his Manager who was supposed to come and see us. He never turned up but about 10 minutes later tom turned up with another tv, but by this time my husband had got it working. Tom was rather surprised and asked how we had done it. So that side of things a bit unhinged, and Manager never turned up. On my booking form the breakfast was supposed to be £7.00 but we were told it was £7.25 when we arrived, ok not a lot extra, but that isn't the point., Also on the brochure in the room it stated there would be black pudding for breakfast, which wasn't there. All a bit chaotic, One very nice young lady checking the bookings and one taking orders who was a bit miserable, but no one explained where tea and coffee etc was. Found it was in thermos flasks which wasn't very good, rather stewed Tea is always better freshly made in a pot. Also had to go searching for extra milk. Having said that my husband's breakfast was a good plateful although not very hot. Certainly the customer service could have been better. No one came to ask if we wanted anything (as in milk) or if the breakfast was ok, so that could be worked on. Also who wants to see a miserable face serving your breakfast ????

The bar area look liked it had been completely refurbished & looked fabulous so how disappointing to enter a room that was very dated, not particularly clean & very 'tired' looking. There was a layer of dust/dirt all the way around the furnishings & I didn't feel as if I was staying in a clean room at all. The shower gel dispenser was empty so I had to shower with my own shampoo. The room smelt as if someone had been smoking at somepoint therefore a stale smell had lingered so I had to keep the wondows open all the time. The brochures on the table were all covered in food & drink stains.

“Liked the country feel about the location though it was on the edge of Sheffield, and its nearness to the Peak District. It was comfortable and didn't look like a chain type hotel though the offer price would easily compare to several of those types. It was quiet and peaceful with no road noise. ” Ian, Bristol |
