The Fairway  

We were visiting my friend's daughter and then travelling on to York. Accommodation was just what we wanted.I can't recommond Barnsley to other travellers because we did not visit it, just met family at hotel.

Scrufy, it lacks any warmth

The bed was a queen size and perfect for us as we are both big . The cleanliness of the hotel stuck in my mind and the staff friendly . The food was reasonable.basic hotel but we were happy with the facilitys staying for just one night.

room was too warm so we were glad there were windows .

The staff are great, the restaurant is good and the rooms are clean and tidy.

TheTV reception in the rooms is poor and the wireless broadband is very slow.

The rooms were large and spacious which was a very pleasant surprise given the cost and very comfortable. Food was also extremely good and very well priced. All very nice indeed.

Single beds were very narrow - my husband worried he would fall out!

Couldn't of asked for anywere better to stay. All the staff were extremly helpful, polite and nice, the room was very clean and very comfortable. Food and drinks at the restaurant/bar were good quality and very reasonably priced overall great value for money and you won't be dissapointed when stopping at the fairway! Definatly be stopping there again in the future!

Good size room. Clean. Quiet, though the hotel was only 50% full. The easily adjustable heating was a plus and the large bed was comfortable.

It's location.

Floors were terrible ,every step you took was accompanied by horrendous floor creaks.I Have never heard anything so bad.The single bed in our room was very uncomfortable as the bed springs were practically poking through.We ate there one evening and were surprised to have our dessert( ice cream)brought to the table before our main meal!

Good staff nice bar and resturant downstairs is better than the rooms upstairs but it would not take alot to put it right.

Food needs a little work. Good menu but more care needs to be taken with the meals.Homemade chips tasted good but were black. Breakfast was better the next day

The staff at reception and in the Bar/Resturant were very friendley and made us welcome. The service was good

Food could have been better at night allthough the breakfast in the next morning was better

My only complaint, which is probably out of the control of the hotel, was the difficulty I had in connecting to the wi fi free internet service.

I chose this hotel as it offered a slightly better rate than the Travelodge about a mile away. I would say the room was better appointed than that of a Travelodge

Im afraid the hotel fails on a fundamental requirement in that the floorboards in the rooms and corridors are so creaky it is impossible to get a good nights sleep. It is a shame, because the rest of the hotel actually represents very good value

Single beds in the twin rooms were a little bit narrow. Also the "water proof" sheet under the bed sheet was a little unnecessary and also uncomfortable. But all in all not that big a deal.

The staff were very efficient and friendly. I left my camera there and straight away they called to tell me. Great room, great breakfast and lovely friendly staff.. Will definitely be staying again next time I`m in Barnsley. Magic.
