This hotel has some unworthy bad reviews on this site. We enjoyed our stay. Great Location. Staff were really friendly and helpful; room was very clean, roomy enough and had lovely decor/bedding. The hotel decor in general was new, modern, relaxing. The stairs are a bit steep but it is an old building. Breakfast was fine, not sure what other people want in their breakfast choices because there was cereals, fruit, yogurts, cheese and cold meat as well as a bigger choice of cooked items. I think some reveiwers have not been to many scottish hotels - this one is a good standard for the price. People should also remember, if you're unhappy about something, you should tell the hotel at the time so they can do something about it at the time.

The downstairs part of the Hotel has been refurbished and looks really very nice. The staff where very friendly and helpful. We went for a meal in the Bistro and the food was delicious and the Staff prompt. When we go back to Perth we will be staying there again as the location was ideal.

Good location. Excellent breakfast, but suggest more butter and marmalade needed. Staff very helpfull in allocating a room on the first floor as we could not manage the maze of stairs. Rooms at front facing busy main road could do with the now popular triple glazing.

We stayed at the New County for three nights in August on a B&B rate. The room allocated was on the front of the building, which is located on a busy main road. The room was a good size and had everything we needed for a short stay. Breakfast was served in the hotels "Opus One" restaurant and we were offered a selection of continental and cooked dishes all to a good standard. The hotel location makes it easy to reach the town centre and shops. Perth is a location for a base when exploring the Perthshire mountains and countryside. This is a great location for tourists. Things to note include the fact that there can be traffic noise in hte roome located to the front of the building. Also note the hotel has very limited parking and the adjacent local authority car parks are short-stay. Parking in Perth can be expensive so make an allowance for this cost when considering this location.

The gourmet food was excellent for presentation, composition and best of all taste. Very nice well lit dining room and table settings. Also atmosphere very romantic and pleasing to the eye. The bistro next door was also nicely decorated and fun with good food from the same chef. We stayed on the top floor so had to climb 2 flights of spiral staircase with luggage. The bedroom was small but clean and comfortable.

The location of the hotel is ideal, very central. The staff are very friendly and helpfull and the breakfast was delicious!! There was no air-conditioning. We had a front facing room that was very noisy due to lack of double glazing.

Good location and staff are excellent - very friendly Hotel is quite dated - apart from the restaurant that has found its way into the 21st century. The rooms could do with a complete makeover. But generally - the hotel is clean and centrally located.

Best thing about the hotel was the food. We had a bar meal in the evening which was excellent although pricey. The inclusive breakfast was very good and well presented. Service was very good and staff pleasant. Bathroom was a bit dated and shower disappointing, although the bedroom was modern, clean and comfortable.
