Excellent location for walking and as a base for visiting the local area. Staff very friendly and helpful, with good quality food. Plenty of space in bedrooms, comfortable and cosy, albeit in need of a bit of maintenance. Would happily visit again. No complaints, although our room was in need of a few maintenace tasks eg hot water tap came off in hand and wallpaper peeling slightly. Minor issues, but easy fixes and would improve the overall atmosphere.

Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. Food was excellent but too much of it.!! All in all we had a very good New Year at the New Inn. Some areas needed a good sweeping e.g. the entrance to the annex where we stayed. Some refurbishment would help but did not really detract that much from out stay.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, all the staff were friendly and willing to help, we stayed for two nights bed and breakfast and the full English breakfast was just what you needed before a hike. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The hotel is looking a little tired and would benefit from minor improvements and a lick of paint.

This is a great place with history, local style and character and all the comfort you could wish. Also the breakfast is great, and people are extremely friendly. And the location is just perfect.

Pleasant owners and staff. Good location. Excellent breakfast & good food in bar/restaurant. Wine reasonably priced. Hotel warm & plenty of hot water. Unfortunately was very disappointed in the bedroom itself - very tired and needing an update and poor in comparison with many hotels we have stayed in for about the same price.

The staff were friendly and food was good vaule - massive portions. They are trying their best to please. Room was clean and big. Although the hotel/inn was run down in part this is not a bad place to stay. The swearing in the bar by locals wasn't pleasant and the atmosphere changed once the owners were scarce. Too many children running around which is dangerous. Basic things to put right like a bit of paint and cleaning up cigarette ends round the hotel reception would help.

Warm welcome and staff friendly and acommodating, evening meal good home cooked food at a reasonable price. Decor traditional and perhaps a little dated although comfortable and spacious. Some attention to small diy jobs required in bedroom and although location was partially about view windows were very dirty so this bonus lost.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was ideally located for many walks around the area. The food served was great. The only thing that slightly bothered me was the fact that the tv didn;t work very well in the room. I had to keep retuning it to find basic channels like bbc1 etc.

The hotel website looks like it was made a long time ago. The place is shabby and definately in need of a make over .. the breakfast was ok but the evening meals were poor value. I would not book again.

Friendly relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surrounding out of the way of the main roads but still close enough for easy access. Some of the fittings could be better quality. Reception service could be a little more snappy but no serious complaints.

Everything worked ok, clean, car park. Tired, run-down needs refurb. Kitchen was being refurbed at time of stay but there are not apparently any plans to refurb rooms. I would recommend this hotel only if price is right.

The New Inn is in a prime location The hotel is owned by enterprise inns and lacks investment. The place is more then tired. The breakfast was uncooked and returned and we slept in the car one night because we could not gain access to the hotel. If the place was old a clean I would not make these comments.

Good location, picturesque village good spot for walkers and lots of local attractions. Smell of oil as walked into reception. Cooked breakfast not good. Furnishings old and shabby - wallpaper in "superior room" not put on properly and creased in corners, ceiling above bed looked as though it may soon fall in where it had rained. Bathroom tiny and simple things like shower head which could have been cleaned eaily and taps which needed screwing on were not done. There were 2 cats prowling around everywhere and most staff were very stand offish with the exception of one barman who seemed to do the majority of the work. Could be a lovely place with a complete refurbishment but is vastly overpriced for what it delivers.
