Very small room. Very dated. Worn and stained carpet. Cracked tiles in bathroom. Broken lampshade in bedroom. Kitchen extractor system started up at 6.45am. Outlet on flat roof outside bedroom window. VERY noisy. Cooked breakfast under heat lamps from 7.00am barely edible by 8.30am.
I've stayed twice and both times have been very well looked after as a lone female traveller. Good friendly service and a top notch breakfast. Comfortable beds and powerful showers which is always good!
All good, rooms have just been refurbished so in very good order, bar food was very good value , had the cavery on the Thursday,my company will be pleased as it was very inexpensive, would use again if I'm sent down to lewes again.
Breakfast not much choice breakfast bit dried up
The room we had was good but we saw the plans for new rooms that should be very good
No fruit at breakfast
Excellent location for visiting Sussex university. Lovely food in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Checking in at the bar is a bit uncomfortable when there are people sat in the way and you have to lean across to use the card machine or speak to the staff. It would be better if you could check in at a separate area.
Bit close to busy road
Room decor and layout on arrival
Stained toilet bowl Traffic noise
The room was quiet - a pleasant surprise as the hotel is quite close to the main road. Hotels in the area are generally pricey, and this seemed a fair price. Breakfast was good. You can't walk anywhere from it, but it's a good stop off point for getting to other places.
Its location was good near brighton so we could easily travel into brighton for the day. The rooms were clean and perfect for a weekend.
The food was ok and they are having work done at the moment to refresh the place .
A hot bath, lovely. enjoyed the carvery dinner in the evening, missed breakfast as I had to set off early!
only 1 tea bag for a cuppa and not enough milk. It would have been nice to have a hot cup of tea on arrival and still have enough ingredients for a cup in the morning too! Plus walls are quite thin so you get to hear your neighbours coming and going, I was lucky that the people next door were quiet anyway but that may not always be the case!
Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was very clean and had everything you need and the food was excellent.
Nothing to say here.
Comfortable accommodation, great breakfast.
View of next-door derelict petrol station. Very close to extremely noisy main road.
pub atmosphere quality of breakfast
toilet light-switch being outside the toilet was hard to find in the night
Location. Self service breakfast was ok but prefer to be waited on.
TV didn't work.
Road noise Restaurant menu and service
Clean bright room, Good Food, Friendly Staff. A really pleasant place to stay would defiantly stay here again. Carvery very good value with large portions.
Access from only one side of A27 but just ask and there is a shortcut back to the Eastbound side.
The family owners, the facilities and the closeness to Glyndebourne.
Having to leave.
Location. Hard work done by the owner of the hotel (well one of them).
This hotel is undergoing renovation adding new rooms, so there was some inconvenience caused. Breakfast was served as a buffet, and as so often with these things it meant fried eggs sitting for seemingly a long time in a heating pan until they get hard, although they were quite happy to make more eggs for us. There seemed to be an awful lot of food wasted from the breakfast buffet, we worked out on back of an envelope if they had this much waste daily it must be costing around £3,000 a year! The sausages and bacon were quite greasy and as mentioned on leaving the breakfast area around 10.00 am on the first day there appeared to be a lot of waste. They would be better off doing breakfast to order. The owners seemed to be doing most of the work - well the guy was - his wife sat around in the bar doing very little or so it appeared. He was very helpful and obliging for us to use the fridge in the kitchen to store picnic food and drink we had with us. We stayed two nights but the couple (in a ten room hotel) did not introduce themselves or ask them why we we there or advise us on anything locally; I had emailed the hotel asking for advice on a local walk we could do on the evening we arrived, they did not have this email in our file and had not responded. The room was a tight squeeze and no bath to relax in and not enough towels (is there ever enough towels), the shower worked but its fixture on the wall needs attention - the hotelier was informed about this on the morning after our first night but nothing was done. We only got given one key, which needed to be put in a slot to give us electricity in the room, which meant if you needed to pop down to the car and needed the key to get back in you had to leave your partner in darkness. The outside areas of the hotel need attention, the playground area is full of broken equipment - either fix it it get rid of it - and do cut the grass.
Rear bedroom - much quieter than in the front - a big improvement. compared to the front. Freindly welcome. Liked the buffet breakfast - worked well
Every year I book and feel uncomfortable with the "Arrive by 8pm" rule - As we use the Newmarket Inn after crossing the channel, we cannot arrive much before 10pm. I therefore feel a need to phone & confirm, to ensure we will be received. Although it has never been a problem it is a nuisance. Why not advertise to channel crossers like us & offer explicitly the facility of arriving later?
Loved this place and an ideal location for my trip. Great nights sleep.
Location Friendly staff
Location on South Downs Way Friendly good service Nice food
Busy A27 road and derelict petrol stations
Very convenient for our visit to Glyndebourne Opera. Rooms are being refurbished and ours was newly decorated. Free wifi was a bonus. Good breakfast. Room and breakfast tariff very reasonable.
The old closed petrol station next door makes the outside look untidy and may put some people off visiting.
Friendly, helpful staff
No facilities beyond pub/restaurant. Good location for hikers
