Friendly service-minded staff, Location near heavily trafficked road, impossible to contact hotel by phone after 6 p.m., which was a problem due to unexpected late arrival.

Only 15 minutes from the port of Newhaven this is an excellent stop-over. The manageress and her family were very welcoming, the room clean and comfortable and the good English breakfast breakfast was more than we could eat!

It's location is great and within easy reach of Brighton. The staff are all helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The room was clean and very comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfast included was more than we could eat, and piping hot too! All in all a very comfortable stay, we will stay here again whenever we're in Brighton and will be recommending it to our friends..2n/

The room was well presented and clean. As you drive onto the slip road for the Inn you have to slam on the anchors or you overshoot the entrance and the signage does little to warn you. The bar was fair to middling with a nice attempt at a rustic look although ripped furniture seemed to be overdoing it! The room was next to the road and it was like trying to sleep next to the main runway at Heathrow Airport. There has been a cheap attempt at sound reduction but it fails miserably. Definitely not value for money as for an extra £15 you could get a luxury hotel

Ideal location for the purpose of our weekend .We wanted to be close to the Amex Stadium for football and within a short hop of a night out in Brighton .Hotel was a great price, breakfast was good and the bar staff and general staff were excellent .As a walker I noticed south downs footpath signs right outside hotel door a good excuse for a return visit in the summer .

Run by attentive staff who are looking to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Like a cross between an old style pub and a roadside inn. Location not ideal, as its on a busy main road in a slightly run-down area, although the hotel is double-glazed throughout, so you don't really hear the traffic. If you're looking for something practical and cost-conscious and not too worried about the frills then it's fine.

Very pleasant stay at the Newmarket Inn. I had been trekking with a friend we were tired and lost, the Manager (Andy Powell) even came to collect us which was a very unexpected but very grateful extra! Food was very good, rooms spotless and all staff very friendly. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends ;-)

Breakfast was very good and the Carvery was well priced. Room was very noisy, air con unit for kitchen was switched on at 7am and droned on all day until after 9pm. Hotel is on a very busy main road and not near any facilities you can walk to. Restaurant menu is very limited if you did not want carvery every night. Overpriced considering location

I chose it because of it's location to Brighton, near my daughter who is a student at uni, and because of it's cheaper than Brighton price. In that respect it was ok. But even though it was cheaper than Brighton, it was disappointing. I got a roadside bedroom which was V.noisy next to the a27. Fortunately I had good earplugs! And the breakfast was disappointing. Make your own teas and coffee with water from a flask, no real coffee, only instant, and no fruit at breakfast. Even tinned grapefruit or an apple or a banana with my cereal would have been nice. The cooked part of the breakfast was fine.

Relaxing, clean very friendly staff that make you feel one of the family. There is plenty of free car parking and on the A27 only seven miles from Brighton. A great bar area and outside decked patio and close to the south downs if you need a bed for the night give it a try.

The inn is very welcoming and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly. The carvery is good value for money. The location is about 10 minutes away from Brighton (with a bus service right outside) parking at the inn is ample (and free). Excellent value for money!
