All the above already mentioned. Staff were very helpful. We had the carvery the night we arrived and it was fabulous. There was a huge selection for breakfast including cereals, fruit juices and jams. Cooked breakfast was gorgeous and u could vary it I.E. poached eggs and scrambled eggs were also on offer. We would definitely stay again if we were visiting Brighton.

Extremely friendly welcome, our room was immaculate, the full english breakfast superb and nothing was too much trouble for the manager Andy (who has a whacky sense of humour). Highly recommended.

Good location for anyone visiting Glyndebourne. Ccompetitve rates and good staff Located right next to the a27, the volume of traffic, even through the night, means that it is hard to sleep witout earplugs. There is nothing the hotal can do about this however anf, for the money, it is good value and well situated.

The room was spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly. It's on the a27 and so there is a bit of traffic noise in the rooms, but we slept very well and were not really bothered by it. Excellent value. There weren't really any vegetarian options at breakfast apart from cereal and toast.

The Newmarket Inn is under new ownership (past 18 months). Ownership is on-sight, overseeing the daily operations: they care about the place and the overall service is excellent. The single room was small (expected) but comfortable and clean. The food was excellent: good pub fare and a delicious carvery. I was walking the South Downs Way and they kindly gave me toast and coffee on-the-go as I had to leave early prior to main breakfast. I wouldn't call this a 'family establishment' but for someone doing business in the area (just outside Lewes) or on a walking trip or weekend outing (about a 10 minute walk off the South Downs Way) the Newmarket Inn is a superb and affordable choice. (Not really complaints, just comments) The Newarket Inn is on a main road leading out of Lewes toward Brighton, thus it might get a bit noisy for rooms facing the road. For walkers, it can be a bit tricky to get to as you need to navigate or avoid crossing the main road - use a good map which indicates where the South Downs Way and public paths intersect, avoiding the main road altogether; this via a bridge and public path.

My stay at the Newmarket was for business very easy to find on the a27. The staff were very friendly and from what I could see greeted everyone with a smile and a sense of humour especially Dave with his photo albums! Rob with his Jokes and all in all with a lovely breakfast we carried on our way feeling refreshed after a good night. I will definitely stay again if I am in the area.
