Being woken up at 7:45am by the cleaning staff entering the room after travelling all night and arriving at 4am!
The smell of paint
I like it i like it alot i will be back
Nothing worth complaining about here i thought it was superb
Modern and new hotel, with large restaurant with good food and service, bar, lounge area, small gym, plenty of free parking, free wifi throughout, friendly and extremely helpful staff, large comfortable ensuite room, TV and complimentary Tea / coffee / toiletries.
I had room on 2nd floor (which is currently being renovated) which backed onto and unfortunately suffered from Traffic noise from A1(M) (rooms on other side are much quieter) Unfortunately the heating broke in my room (and in quite a few rooms on my floor) and they couldn't move me as hotel was full so staff eventually found me a heater which warmed me up and they apologised sincerely, gave me free drinks and compensated me with a discounted room charge! Even though I had some problems I would still stay here again!
Comfortable bed. Easy to find off the A1.
Refurbishment of corridor in 2nd floor. No heating, control knob missing and had to ask for a heater which sounded like an airliner taking off. so we were not warm. £69 for just the room considering there was no heating and it was cold isn't value for money
Perfect hotel for us as we were driving from Edinburgh to Hemel Hempstead. Very comfortable room and really friendly, helpful staff. Good food for dinner although no atmosphere as restaurant doubles up for breakfast.
Breakfast - nothing was fresh. Cooked food was kept warm for hours and had no taste.
the room, was absolutely spotless, the bathroom the same. very comfy king size bed and an excellent shower. Breakfast was very good too with plenty of choices. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
the only thing was the small towel was not big enough to wrap round my hair, but this was my own fault I should have brought my own, so this is not really a complaint as such.
Friendly staff Great food Big bathroom and shower with a seat
Noisy room, you could hear people walking around above our room
Friendly staff, clean & comfortable. Would use this hotel again. Only negative - Mind the speed bump on exit!!!
Staff very friendly and helpful . Nothing seemed too much trouble.
Quiet room as requested Close to motorway for onward journey Standard Holiday Inn, no nasty shocks.
Surrounding area not too hot Not very clearly signed
The beds are beyond comfortable!
At breakfast, we couldn't find any coffee..after asking coffee from the breakfast staff, we were left waiting bit too long.
Friendly staff Comfortable Clean Room Good TV - all freeview channels Nice sized shower - seat in shower useful touch Plenty of tea and coffee in the room Bed was large and comfortable
Was not able to connect to the wifi. the touchdown page did not work correctly on my Windows 8 phone.
Helpful staff. Shortish drive into Darlington. Newspapers delivered.
Noise from nearby motorway. Room key needed to be re-programmed every day.
Convenient location, comfortable room, clean and well maintained throughout. Wifi that actually worked. Friendly and pleasant staff makes such a difference.
Some traffic noise, but to be expected due to location right next to A1, massively outweighed by all the good points
Location is good due to motorway proximity. Room was clean and had lift to all floors. Has access to food if required either in the hotel or walking distance to a fast food outlet. Good for a one night stopover only.
Tired decor in room, broken light fittings and defective hair dryer ( cuts out after 10 sec due thermal cut out) loose toilet seat. Reported but no maintenance staff available. Motorway noise could be a problem with closed windows in summer due to the heat. Food prices were dear for the available food in the restaurant/ Cafe.
Friendly and helpful Staff, Excellent power shower, Soft fluffy towels Good choice of pillows.
Breakfast hot food was not as hot as I would have liked. However, there was an excellent selection of everything else one could wish for.
Good food and welcoming
Could not fault it
staff were pleasant any helpful. The room was comfortable.
The booklet describing the facilities available was hidden away in a cupboard, Some of the facilities described didn't seem to be available. There was supposed to be a TOGO shop but we couldn't find it and the watt on duty didn't seem to know about it.
Whole place was clean and comfortable.
My wife ordered a Tuna salad for dinner. £8-50 for a salad that was no bigger than a side salad you would expect to get with a sandwich in a normal place. Not only was it small but it consisted of only rocket with a small amount of tuna and 2 small tomatoes cut in halves.Normally in a salad you would expect lettuce, cucumber, onion and some sort of dressing. When we complained to the manager and chef he told us that they have to make up all the meals from a photograph and weigh all products to "company specifications" !!! Value for money-----rubbish. Also the place is not sign posted very well.
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Good location just off a1(m). Room comfortable and clean. Starbucks on site
Too many coach parties at one time made buffet breakfast crowded. Only a shower in bathroom.
Comfortable room, good bar area (liked the idea of board games....enjoyed a game of scrabble!) and good menu choice. Wanted to break our journey around Scotch Corner and this hotel was well worth the few extra miles beyond the junction.
Liked most of hotel- if I had to be 'picky' the restaurant had a bit of a cold feel. Maybe blinds at the windows would soften the look?
It was a very hot weekend and the air conditioning in the rooms waqs not working . Also the windows could only be opened a couple of inches .The staff didn't seem awareof the situation ,even when several guests complained .
Rooms were clean and tidy and hotel was very modern. Would recommend the hotel but do not eat there.
I was traveling with a group on business there should have been a z-bed put in the room that I was sharing but they hadn't. I ended up sharing a bed with a colleague. As for meal time; over priced and service was worse than I could ever have imagined. All bar one meal came out and we had actually finished before it arrived. Not even as much as a sorry "it's the chief" we were told. Also we waited almost 45 minutes before the food was served. Such a let down!!!
hotel was clean
the aircon didn't work..was like sleepin in a sauna
