The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. Our room was spaceous and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the restaurant, lovely food and excellent service.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable due to old done mattress , room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke residues

The rooms were large and comfortable. The shower was large and had a seat.

The prices of the food, main course came without veg and it was £2.95 for a side dish and all you got was a florets of cauli, a florets of broccoli and a few sliced pieces of carrot

My 2nd stay at the Aston in 3 months, the staff are faultless & really make you feel welcome, the hotel is clean, comfortable & well appointed with ample free parking, the food is good & well portioned, i will definitely be staying at the Aston on my next trip to the NE.

The restaurant was a lovely surprise. Staff were bored due to it not being that busy. However; the food especially the first evening was splendid.

Air conditioning unit was very loud in the room, was slightly hot.

Food service was excellent, attentive and efficient waiter. Dinner was reasonable pub standard, breakfast was served quickly, tomatoes were undercooked and cool.

The staff were friendly and truly helpful. My room was well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was very enjoyable and the service excellent. The location of the hotel in the countryside is pleasant and peaceful. I was able to sleep well every night. Additionally, it is only a short journey from the hoteI to the centre of Darlington town. I would happily stay at the Aston again.

Our visit was to attend a family funeral and the quiet, efficiency of the hotel was just what we needed.

The rooms are larger than normal and nicely decorated. The bed is huge! and comfortable. We always have a restful nights sleep at the Aston. The shower cubicle is large and the shower is powerful. You can choose your heating level and it really works! The staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge is comfortable and the breakfasts are satisfying with a good selection. Evening meals are excellent too. Although its near the motorway the thick double glazing keeps the sound of traffic out and doesn't disturb your sleep. We think it is real value for money and have stayed at the Aston in Darlington at least half a dozen times. It's in a good location for shopping in either Darlington or Newcastle and also for countryside interests such as Barnard Castle, Weardale and not that far from Cumbria. We don't think about staying anywhere else when we come up to combine a few days holiday with visiting family.

The area where the stairs and lift are isn't heated so you go from warm temperature to cold to warm as you go up to your room. Running up the stairs keeps you warm!
