Food could be better
Ease of access. Plenty of parking. Reception staff good. Room clean and the beds were clean and comfortable
Breakfast was not up to a standard we have come to expect from Holiday Inns. A lack of croissants and when I asked for replenishment was told I would have to wait for them to be cooked plus bacon was hard and had obviously been out for along time. Other items had been standing for a long time and were edible, just.
Limited choice in resturant menu.
When I got there they had no record of my booking even though I had the record on my phone
light and airy communal areas and quiet rooms
The shower was too hot to use, and wouldn't adjust. Although I complained, nothing was done about it. Also, the bar was very expensive.
The room above me had noisy floor boards so I was awake very early and had a disrupted nights sleep due to the noise from people walking around.
the lack of food after 10pm no spirits available after 10.50pm wifi connection wasn't great noisy neighbour, even in the quiet zone!! room was very darl
Nice room, nice bathroom. Helpful staff. Good location when you travel North.
Nothing to comment
The staff were fantastic, it was clean and comfortable
The location was not rally Darlington, it was more Newton Aycliffe
Room, bed, good sized TV, location for visiting local towns etc
Unfortunately noisy residents in room above!!!
The new decor of bar etc
The new reception
We arrived on a frosty night into a pleasant and warm reception area with friendly receptionist. After a problem with first room offered, second one was clean and tidy and the outside corridor was deeply carpeted and so quiet underfoot. Breakfast food was fresh and well presented.
There was confusion whether we had paid for breakfast or not as prices changed since booking on-line and the printed invoices didn't show it as included - it was. First room offered had a faulty door and smelled of smoking. Second was OK but it was a frosty night and heating was via overhead a/c unit which left head a bit stuffy and feet cold. Anglepoise lamp didn't work. Bar/lounge area comfort was was underwhelming. The 'roaring fire' turned out to be a simulated fire behind a screen and the main heat source was another overhead a/c unit which created comfort in some chairs but draughts in others; we didn't linger long..
Everything ! Food and drinks were a little expensive though
Staff very friendly and helpfull and all ways polite. Really comfort and nice clean large bed. Breakfast was good with plenty to pick from
Overall presentation. quality of fittings. the fact there was two chairs in the room.
Breakfast cost. tariff for room service
The price and proximity to motorway
The room was advertised as having a mini bar and robes/slippers. Neither were present. The heated towel rail was left on full blast all night leading to a superheated bathroom. The fan heating system is excessively loud. There was decorating work being undertaken and a strong paint smell in the room. The invoice was addressed to "Mr & Mrs", I stated single occupancy on the reservation. We are not in the 1970s women are allowed to travel alone.
Very close to A1 junction 59 and easly to find. Hotel food fine. Plenty of parking places.
For a Holiday Inn although clean it looked slightly tired. Rooms however were not. They were fine. No bath, just a pre-fabricated plastic shower unit with high step-in.
Room was nicely decorated toiletries added bonus if you forget anything. room nice and warm.
Bed was a little to hard but thats prefrence. I prefer a soft mattress.
Being woken up at 7:45am by the cleaning staff entering the room after travelling all night and arriving at 4am!
The smell of paint
I like it i like it alot i will be back
Nothing worth complaining about here i thought it was superb
Modern and new hotel, with large restaurant with good food and service, bar, lounge area, small gym, plenty of free parking, free wifi throughout, friendly and extremely helpful staff, large comfortable ensuite room, TV and complimentary Tea / coffee / toiletries.
I had room on 2nd floor (which is currently being renovated) which backed onto and unfortunately suffered from Traffic noise from A1(M) (rooms on other side are much quieter) Unfortunately the heating broke in my room (and in quite a few rooms on my floor) and they couldn't move me as hotel was full so staff eventually found me a heater which warmed me up and they apologised sincerely, gave me free drinks and compensated me with a discounted room charge! Even though I had some problems I would still stay here again!
Comfortable bed. Easy to find off the A1.
Refurbishment of corridor in 2nd floor. No heating, control knob missing and had to ask for a heater which sounded like an airliner taking off. so we were not warm. £69 for just the room considering there was no heating and it was cold isn't value for money
