Friendliness of the staff, nothing seemed too much trouble and the cosy informal atmosphere was delightful. Lovely cafe and relaxed seating. Caring attitude from reception to waitresses. I came away with a sample of the homemade chutney which accompanied an amazing curry. I will be back!

Room lightening for reading at night in bed not so good

    Location and food.

Staff not trained to respond to customer questions. Although it's an old hotel and full of charm, we stayed in a De luxe room where the front window was rotting and would not stay open. The room was full of flies( at least 10 circling the light fitting) and I asked for a fly spray in order to deal with them, in the end I had to go and buy my own spray as staff did not know what to do. Also at breakfast staff unwilling to re set a breakfast table in the conservatory although several available and tried to make us sit where we didn't want to. My wife and I have stayed here three times before and this was an anniversary treat paid for by friends. It was not worth the money and was disappointing. The hotel needs to up its game to justify the prices, location alone is not enough.

This hotel is well situated in the middle of Chipping Campden, it has its own car park. They have a very pleasant coffee shop and buffet breakfast is ok.

Let down by carpet leading to stairs and having a threadbare carpet on stairs. Some rooms are fair distance from reception. Bathroom could do with improving.

Superior room was - well - superior! But a small TV stuck on a coffee table was practically unviewable

Too many stairs. Ask for a different table in the restaurant and it seemed 'How dare you!' After that she didn't care. Wifi was in public rooms only - except that it wasn't. Intermittent at best. Room was noisy people in and out of the courtyard seemingly all night.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Good food and pleasant bar.

Very tired and stuffy family room in real need of refurbishment. Loose electrical sockets, sticking bathroom door, music playing from somewhere below until late and a view over an run down area of the property.

The environment, excellent food and wonderful staff.

The room was looking very tired. We stayed in 1991 just after the new extension was built and a shame it has not been maintained. However do appreciate how costly this must be and the room rate was really good. Best wishes for the future

Lovely setting for the hotel. Nice to have a coffee shop and restaurant in the hotel. Food of high standard. Breakfast choices were very good and with options to suit all tastes.

No fridge/mini bar in the bedroom. No fan available although the bedroom was very hot in this Summer weather and only a small window in room 18.

We liked the whole ambience of the hotel its location. An ideal central location for travelling around the Cotswolds

One minor item. Room 25, the placing of the glass ledge over the wash-bowl was positioned to cause an accident. Over the stay I brushed my head as I washed my face as my wife did. I remarked that the location of the glas ledge was an accident in waiting. Sure enough I banged my head on the ledge causing a cut to my forehead which was very painful. This was reported to reception and recorded in the accident book. Please reposition
