A really superb curry dinner & excellent breakfast
Central position in the Cotswolds close to most important sites
Central location, good parking, good facilities, additional use of spa facilities at neighbouring site, lovely historical Cotswold building.
The location was in the center of everything that you would like to do; a very charming town. The dinner menu and food was very good; although the service was terrible, either they were not responsive or couldn't remember your order correctly.
The hotel definitely needs some renovations and an elevator/lift would be a great addition. If you had a street front room, the noise of people visiting late in the night were annoying; and since there is no air-conditioning, you needed your windows open.
Our party numbered 14 including 3 generations of the family and the staff coped very well with our needs.
Nothing, although the hotel might have been cramped if the weather had not been so good and we had to spend time indoors.
Location was wonderful, charm of an old added on to ancient hotel with the uneven floors, creaking stairs to go with it. Breakfast was good, service good. Bed and oilliws good, towels best so far on our multiple stop holiday. Great laundry service. No elevator was only a problem for taking bags up to room, rest if the time it was no issue. Of course we were only on the second floor.
our room: decor very nice, size moderate, bathroom - nice size and fitted out v nice.. accessory soaps etc. were v nice. breakfast great. location to die for. staff lovely.
lobby walls and carpet were in need of repair. carpet was buckled and could be hazardous.
position of hotel, friendly staff. quiet bedroom, dog friendly, car park.
self service tea and coffee, and awful toast machine at breakfast.
Great ambiance, nice staff, good food, great location, and loved the Cotswalds.
Rooms were hot. One had no air moving at all. Fans didn't help.
The staff were more than helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent.
Our room which was number 5 was quite tired and one window didn't open and the other didn't close. The spa was expensive and not really usable. Toiletries in the room were insufficient but we were given more on request.
Very convenient location No parking problems Pleasant relaxed hotel
Too "dog friendly" not happy with large dogs in public rooms
The room had old furnishings and the bed was only fair. The room seemed small for the price.
The hotel is lovely and in a good position in the town, but quiet. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent
There is nothing I did not like.
Great location in the centre of Chipping Campden. Cooked breakfast options were quite good. Overall this place is good accom if only priced at 60-80 per night as opposed to the 135 tag.
Room 22 next to kitchen so you can hear noise (not loud but not peaceful). No Wifi in rooms - really not acceptable for the cost of these rooms. Continental breakfast offering is poor given the cost. Reasonable decor but some things would require repair - loose fitting ceiling lights, broken tiles in bathroom. Not ideal when paying 135 a night. Overall it was an ok place to stay but when we have stayed all over the UK in BnBs with more luxurious accom, better service and food and for half the price, we were disappointed with our experience vs expectations.
Comfortable bed, luxury washing room, sunshine cafe and yard.
Friendly staff Great food Dog friendly
Friendliness of the staff, nothing seemed too much trouble and the cosy informal atmosphere was delightful. Lovely cafe and relaxed seating. Caring attitude from reception to waitresses. I came away with a sample of the homemade chutney which accompanied an amazing curry. I will be back!
Room lightening for reading at night in bed not so good
Location and food.
Staff not trained to respond to customer questions. Although it's an old hotel and full of charm, we stayed in a De luxe room where the front window was rotting and would not stay open. The room was full of flies( at least 10 circling the light fitting) and I asked for a fly spray in order to deal with them, in the end I had to go and buy my own spray as staff did not know what to do. Also at breakfast staff unwilling to re set a breakfast table in the conservatory although several available and tried to make us sit where we didn't want to. My wife and I have stayed here three times before and this was an anniversary treat paid for by friends. It was not worth the money and was disappointing. The hotel needs to up its game to justify the prices, location alone is not enough.
Full English breakfast was delicious. Good location
The mattress was only 4 inches thick and was very uncomfortable. Our shower attachment was broken, so it sprayed out of the bathtub. There was anti-American artwork on the lobby walls. Dollar bills had been altered and defaced. Wii-fi unreliable even in the common areas.
Totally unpretentious, welcoming, efficient and attractive place to be. Food outstandingly good - and reasonably priced. (Oriental evening was incredibly inexpensive.)
Nothing - except no Weetabix at breakfast and tea and coffee not hot enough.
very old fashioned, decor and facilities feel too old.
This hotel is well situated in the middle of Chipping Campden, it has its own car park. They have a very pleasant coffee shop and buffet breakfast is ok.
Let down by carpet leading to stairs and having a threadbare carpet on stairs. Some rooms are fair distance from reception. Bathroom could do with improving.
Superior room was - well - superior! But a small TV stuck on a coffee table was practically unviewable
Too many stairs. Ask for a different table in the restaurant and it seemed 'How dare you!' After that she didn't care. Wifi was in public rooms only - except that it wasn't. Intermittent at best. Room was noisy people in and out of the courtyard seemingly all night.
Excellent family room.
