Score from 11 reviews Very good
Less than a mile from York’s historic centre, this friendly hotel, built in 1870, retains stained glass windows and a splendid oak staircase. There are good-value rooms and a restaurant and bar.
Score from 1429 reviews Good
Located overlooking the city’s Roman walls, The Hampton by Hilton York is opposite York Railway Station and a 10-minute walk from the historic centre.
Score from 1989 reviews Fabulous
Staff is nice and kind. This hotel is very clean and has enough space!
wifi is so poor
The room was very confortable and very clean, not too big, but still there was space for two traveling bags. Excellent coffee machine available. Also, the shower was quite good! For the price, it was like a 5*! 15 minute walk from centre of town.
Breakfast was good
Room was pokey Restaurant could have been cleaner and was very dull
DBB worth every penny.
Good location Great food Staff friendly and attentive
Bed not very comfortable Water pressure in shower not good
Comfortable bed. Ample space in a compact room.
Breakfast on day 1 was not £9 worthy! Maybe £3! The cleanliness lacked somewhat in the bathroom. Stains on the blanket! (not gonna ask!)
We stayed in a large room with a for poster bed. The bathroom was great and room tidy and clean. The were staff friendly and helpful.
We only stayed 1 night. The only complaint was that the car park was too small.
Room fresh and clean, good breakfast, pleasant service, location not central but convenient
Compact room is exactly what it says!!! and doesn't come with the complementaries of other rooms. Found it impossible to achieve a comfortable temperature in the shower in spite of the notices. Uncomfortably warm through the night (December)
The room was nicely decorated, and the hotel seemed clean, tidy and trendy. Staff were friendly.
Fresh milk was supposed to be daily, didn't receive any until I went to reception after the first night. Phone in room didn't work. iPod stereo didn't have a power cable. iPod stereo dock didn't work. Mini bar compromised of 1x mini white wine, 1x 275ml bottle of Carlsberg, 1x Pepsi, 1x 7UP, 2x refilled water (Definately not worth £15 extra) Tasimo hot drinks machine capsules had been thrown out of the window and were sitting on top of the bay window below our room. City walls are more than a 10 minute walk as stated. I am a postman and walk quite quick and it was still a 20 minute walk to the Minster.
Only one of several problems I reported at reception was dealt with. Nothing on the website prepared us for our room being in an outhouse accessed directly from the car park.
The staff at Hotel Noir did their best to make us welcome and service was good. Rooms comfortable.
Lighting in dining room very dim especially for breakfast. Bed bit soft.
The size of the triple room was good, shower in bathroom was excellent, free mini bar & wifi, room was lovely & warm & we were able to control the temperature of it, on site parking, very clean & modern a bargain for the price we would definitely stay here again.
Could smell the fryer very slightly in the bedroom when the kitchen was cooking in the evening, the walk into town is quite far if your less mobile.
Being able to leave our luggage in the morning, then amble to the Barbican centre in York, then return later to book in, to this modern hotel.
Friendliness, efficiency, excellent bed, good food, loved the extra info on the breakfast menu with weather forecast and names of duty staff, being given a local map.
compact room was good value .heating was warm and water hot.fridge n coffee machine was a bonus.breakfast was good .would def stay there again
the staff are helpful and friendly .the young lady who served us our evening meal must have been running on duracell batteries , she was answering the phone ,booking people in at reception , working the bar , serving meals and still had a cheery word for everyone . what an asset to the hotel
the menu could have been better . quite a few items on the menu not available so narrowed the choice quite a bit but what we did have was cooked and served lovely
Breakfast staff were lovely.
The bed was not comfortable at all. You had to sleep on a slant.
15 min walk to city centre Breakfast facility and food Spacious room with plenty of clothes space Unhurried
Lack of parking
Excellent restaurant and quality of food. Friendly and helpful staff
Booked a compact room and it really is compact!
The location is good with around a 15 minute walk to the centre with onsite parking which is a bonus as you can be away from the busy centre. I also liked the modern feel of the hotel and some of the staff were very welcoming and polite.
The cleanliness of the bed was a little off, there were a lot of hairs on the mattress and bedding which was a little off putting however the comfort of the bed made up for this. The bathroom door was also very hard to shut, and if you did want it fully shutting the door had to be slammed which was a little annoying for us and I imagine other guests next door.
Lovely hotel within easy walking distance of York. Would definitely stay again
Enthusiastic staff, good parking (but not in the car park), good food, near the centre of York
Small room with a large window directly onto the green (no frosting or nets), noisy corridors and upstairs, huge smell of bleach as we arrived, but forgot to clean the room on Day 2, foul mouthed people in the bar (staff tried a bit to stop it), very dim lighting everywhere
A lovely location to stay. Free car park lovely bedroom, very warm and cosy. very clean fabulous breakfast, freshly cooked and staff were excellent. Would definitely stay there again
The walk from the station is longer than the 20-23 mins. I'd say 25-30 mins. You cannot assume that everyone is able to use the new coffee/tea machines. old fashioned tea bags would have been good.
The look of the hotel was lovely, modern and clean, it had everything you needed in it, our room was fab and would recommend it, the shower was fantastic and hot, we will definitely be staying here again in the future.
The bed was bit worn out and sunk in the middle abit and too soft which gave us a bad back in the morning but we understand everyone's different in their mattress choice.
Arrived at the hotel, good look when you arive quite a modern feel to it. Food was fantastic. Bed was massive and extreamly comfortable, stayed in the 4 poster bed room and andd mini was was free and there was a coffee machine in room, our stay was great!!!!
Have to be very pivky to find faults!!! The bath looked old and discoloured but was clean! Only people un the restaurant in hotel so thr atmodphear was not great but thst can not be helped, didnt change opinion on the lovley food!
