Hotel was welcoming. Black and White decor and art work was great. Bar and small loung area at front of hotel was comfortable. Room was small but perfectly adequate for two. Shower room very small but clean and very nicely decorated. Room was warm with TV coffee making machine and complimentry drinks in fridge each day! Very nice. i assumed parking would be available for all guests as suggested on website. In fact, the car park was extremely limited. We were told to park in the adjoining street, which was residential and clearly has problems of its own for residents parking. I moved my car into the carpark on Friday morning and and two residents approached to ask if I was staying at the hotel? I can absolutely understand their frustration in guests parking there for a few days at a time possibly. Its a situation the hotel needs to address. |

We got upgraded from a compact to a double room due to a cancellation. Bed was comfortable. Very good facilities in room: decent TV, radio, and a free minibar. Quality of breakfast was higher than average. Shower pressure was very low: they badly need to fix this. Breakfast service on Saturday was slow and didn't seem well organized. Some road noise as the room was facing a main road, but this wasn't too disturbing. |

Location, walk into city along interesting road or a river walk. Being able to have an evening meal which was beautifully presented with little touches eg. chocolate with p'mint tea. Cooking needs a little refining. A kettle to boil water, the choice of cofee/tea was too limiting. |

The staff were very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very good. The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable, it sagged in the middle. The room (203) was directly above the boiler and it was too hot. |

I rate the Hotel Noir as excellent thanks to little touches like a complimentary mini bar and the excellent breakfast included in the room rate. The room was also very spacious with many mod-cons! |

Never again will I stay in this hotel It was disgusting filthy and spoiled our holiday My wife had to clean the bathroom when arrived (toilet was nauseating) and bath could not be used as it had black mould around the walls and the filthy plug kept floating when water was put in The food was meagre and service slow and not allocated as first come first serve as result waited 30mins + to be served Have sent complaint to Head Office |

Close to town, secure, comfotable bar area. Staff were very nice. Small room (203), even clothes cupborad could not open completely. OK for one person but for two people at that price was unfair. The bathroom should have a handle on the wall as getting out of the bath was dangerous. Waitressses with long hair should have it tied back when serving guests. |

We very much enjoyed our stay. There were lots of nice touches like the free minibar, coffee/tea machine with fresh milk replenished as required, etc. The prize however goes to the breakfasts - superb food and plenty of it. Free choice of all sorts of cereals, juices, breads, muffins, crumpets, cheese, jams etc. The full English was the 'icing on top' - freshly prepared and served on hot plates, local sausage & bacon delicious. All this within 10minute walk of York Minster and the heart of York. |

The breakfast was great We were three adult males in a triple room the room was very small to say the least it was more like a single or small double at the most never a triple room also everytime we ran the water or flushed toilet there was a very loud noise like there was air trapped in pipes the stocked beer and wine could have been more generous for three adult men sharing |
