I have stayed at a number of hotels in Sale and Altrincham over the years and the Normanhurst is by far the best hotel in .the area. The Hotel staff are great (the barman actually engages in conversation with you) The quality of the food is excellent and in general the whole place makes you feel relaxed. Having spent years travelling on business the last thing I want to do after a full days work is to arrive at a hotel and then go out because the hotel and the staff make you feel uncomfortable or the restaurant is so impersonal that you would rather go somewhere else for a meal. It has been about a year since I last stayed here and was given a double room in the extension part of the Hotel. The first thing I noticed was that the rooms must have been modernised since my last stay.here. The room was bright and clean with an LCD TV in the corner and the bathroom had recently been completely reconstructed to more of a walk-in type shower room. I asked at reception what had changed and was told that some of the standard rooms had wetrooms in them as part of a current upgrade process. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel if you were in the area.

The staff were excellent - friendly, polite and helpful. Although the room was small and the decor rather tired it was clean and the size of room adequate for a weekend stay. Breakfast was good and the evening meal we had in the restaurant was excellent and we would definitely eat there again. We chose this hotel as it was a short walk to the metro station, enabling us to travel around Manchester without needing the car. Would stay here again. Great value for money. If you can overlook the aging decor there really is nothing to complain about.

The cheerful and attentive attitude of the staff particularly in the dining room The twin room we booked was surprisingly small but comfortable. Main dislike was the elements of low maintenance standards manifest in bathroom door handle falling off and the toilet seat fittings failing and therefore unhygienic. There were no towels in the room on arrival. Sound proofing was not adequate

staff were friendly and efficient. Restraunt was excellent and recommend you don't miss the opportunity for an exceptional meal. Choice was good, meal was well presented and cooked to perfection at a very reasonable price. Could'nt fault the service. Overall experience was good and value for money. I like real ale, Boddingtons was the only bitter available! Less said the better. I appreciate Hotel only has a small bar, but some bottles or cans would be a plus.

Quiet location but fairly convenient for travelling to City centre. Pleasant staff. Two things that reduced the score for comfort: Only one chair provided in a double room. Hot water not available after 11 pm

Friendly, value for money The restaurant was very busy in the evening which made parking difficult on return in the evening. Lovely new shower but a design fault means that the water goes all over the bathroom floor as there is no lip, the screen is only about 9" wide and the floor doesn't slope enough for the water to drain away resulting in a flood!

This had not been the first choice but it turned out to be very comfortable. The food was excellent and the service too was very good. If we were planning to eat in we would certainly choose to stay there again.

We found the staff very helpful and friendly. The room was pleasant and comfortable and the full english breakfast, served in the dining room overlooking the garden, was substantial. There is a pleasant conservatory/ bar area and a lovely garden area so you are not confined to your room. The brooklands tram stop ,which takes you direct to old trafford and the heart of the city, is only a 20 minute walk away. They had fixed price menues for lunch and dinner which looked good but we didn't try as we had already pre booked elsewhere. We would normally have booked into a travel lodge/premier inn but there wasn't one nearby so we just took a punt on this hotel. It proved to be a pleasant suprise and much better value for money than the chains. Will use again

The hotel met our needs for an overnight stay and was clean, comfortable and efficient. We had to leave early morning so could not make use of the free cooked breakfast offered (we often experience this). It would be very attractive if the hotel offered a continental, serve yourself breakfast bar from 6.00 am or earlier.

We had only one night in a standard room, which was all very clean, having a very nice, (though smallish) bathroom with "wet room" style shower with large "rain head" which was excellent. We had drinks in the cosy bar followed by our evening meal in the restaurant, three courses of real "Home cooking" for £15.95 served piping hot......excellent. Breakfast in the morning was equally good. The staff at Norman Hurst deserve a special mention as they make your visit a delight, attentive, very helpfull and everything done with a geniune smile, like it was a real pleasure to be of service, all of which creates a friendly, happy atmosphere. For us, there was nothing much not to like, our Standard room was maybe just a tad on the smallish side, tv was positioned a little high in the corner, but more than adequate, would certainly try a superior room next visit.

Very good value for money with friendly and helpful staff. This was our third stay at the hotel and this time our room was in the extended part. The rooms are smaller than those in the main hotel and it was shower only in the bathroom ( a sort of wet room arrangement which left the floor dripping wet) and we would have preferred a bath also.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful I think it is pretty much as it's description, but as we were all only there literally to change, sleep and have breakfast it would not be fair to comment further.
