I have stayed at a number of hotels in Sale and Altrincham over the years and the Normanhurst is by far the best hotel in .the area. The Hotel staff are great (the barman actually engages in conversation with you) The quality of the food is excellent and in general the whole place makes you feel relaxed. Having spent years travelling on business the last thing I want to do after a full days work is to arrive at a hotel and then go out because the hotel and the staff make you feel uncomfortable or the restaurant is so impersonal that you would rather go somewhere else for a meal. It has been about a year since I last stayed here and was given a double room in the extension part of the Hotel. The first thing I noticed was that the rooms must have been modernised since my last stay.here. The room was bright and clean with an LCD TV in the corner and the bathroom had recently been completely reconstructed to more of a walk-in type shower room. I asked at reception what had changed and was told that some of the standard rooms had wetrooms in them as part of a current upgrade process. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel if you were in the area.

This is proably the best 'value-for-money' hotel in the Manchester area. Excellent breakfast, great staff and comfortable rooms. Relatively close to Manchester city centre and also The Trafford shopping centre.

I liked the hotel because it was in a nice quiet location yet not far by car to local amenities. We were visiting Tatton Park rhs and the hotel was ideally located to get there, from. The evening meal was excellent! Our room was fabulous.

The Gardens were beautifully kept and the room was large and well equipped. I had a superior room which overlooked the garden and it had a bath, shower, large lcd tv, and free wi-fi.The food in the restaurand was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful, I could not thing of 1 negative point about my stay and will ensure that whenever I need to stay in a hotel in the area again I will definately book the Normanhurst.

I first stayed @ this hotel approx 45 yrs ago when I moved to M'chr to work, and as I was attending the 150 yrs celebration Sale rfc Ball @ Heywood Road knew that it was situated in close proximity to the ground, and that there was an excellent chance that one or two other ex players would also be staying there, which proved to be the case, although other friends from Scotland had to cancel @ the last minute. We returned to the hotel in the early hours of the morning and had to gain entry via the rear doors. Unfortunately, the entrance and side driveways had no form of illumination whatsoever yet ironically after stopping in front of the rear door a sensor light came on!!! The frontal appearance of the hotel could do with a good coat of paint and although the bulk of the gardens were quite well maintained, the aspect immediately to the right side of the entrance drive was badly neglected. Both of which give a rather run down appearance to what was once a very imposing building.

Very cosy traditionnal hotel. 15 minutes from the airport with bus and train connexion to old trafford and Manchester. Rooms well decorated and with all facilities including flat screen, kettle, iron. Excellent full english breakfast. Top restaurant. Just one little thing: the showers have a high pressure electric device which is quite loud. The first guest taking a showers wakes up everyone around! Bus service in front of the hotel only operates from 10:20 am on sundays and bank holidays. We had booked a double room and a twin. The double twin was twice as big as the double for only 5 pounds more!

The breakfast was not at the same standard as previous stays. Soggy in places and a little tired around the edges. For that reason I am going to try another hotel on my next trip.

very very welcoming and professional staff. larger hotels take note! even shown to our room in the original victorian house.had adjoining extension with walkway. small hotel in leafy suburb. had the feel of a country market town hotel rather than a city hotel.a short drive from the trafford centre 2 junctions away. easy to find even in the dark, sat nav not working. Very good meal set price £15.95. other options available.not glitzy but the warm welcome and excellent service with a smile more than made up for glitz.lovely open fire and small bar.good cooked breakfast

The evening dinner choice, quality and value for money were exceptional. The bedroom was generously sized and well equipped. At breakfast, it was not obvious where essential items eg fruit juice and milk, were to be found.

We had only one night in a standard room, which was all very clean, having a very nice, (though smallish) bathroom with "wet room" style shower with large "rain head" which was excellent. We had drinks in the cosy bar followed by our evening meal in the restaurant, three courses of real "Home cooking" for £15.95 served piping hot......excellent. Breakfast in the morning was equally good. The staff at Norman Hurst deserve a special mention as they make your visit a delight, attentive, very helpfull and everything done with a geniune smile, like it was a real pleasure to be of service, all of which creates a friendly, happy atmosphere. For us, there was nothing much not to like, our Standard room was maybe just a tad on the smallish side, tv was positioned a little high in the corner, but more than adequate, would certainly try a superior room next visit.

It was relaxed; it was friendly; the staff couldn't have been more helpful; the diningroom offered an interesting and excellent menu. I chose it because it was 'family run' and it more than lived up to what I had hoped for.

The main part of the hotel had character and was very nice. There was a welcoming fire in the reception area and the place was warm and cosy. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the waitress attentive and very friendly. Our room was in the extension and was very cold. The radiator was not turned on and considering the warm fire in the main hotel this was very disapointing. Especially as it was mid December.

Very good value for money with friendly and helpful staff. This was our third stay at the hotel and this time our room was in the extended part. The rooms are smaller than those in the main hotel and it was shower only in the bathroom ( a sort of wet room arrangement which left the floor dripping wet) and we would have preferred a bath also.
