Score from 157 reviews Good
room was adequate with view of lake, but small
bathroom was in poor state of maintenance
Breakfast not hot quality excellent but kept in hot trays for too long. Pity since food very good.
Loved being by Rutland Water and the view from my room.
The very, very low double bed!
lovely hotel -good position, very quiet, stunning views from the bedroom. Friendly, helpful staff. Very quiet.
The bed not so comfortable due to springs a bit noisy.
We had a room with lake view - a must as they are very peaceful and you can sleep and wake to the wonderful view. The menu is limited but that said the food was excellent.
The lack of a proper bar area ! and the rather odd uncorodinated decor
Great location Incredible view Excellent food Helpful staff Nice room
Food expensive Very noisy wedding reception No bottled water in the room
Staff very friendly and welcoming. View from room was perfect, could see Rutland Water. Meal was lovely if a little pricey. Atmosphere in the hotel was one of rtelaxation and and friendliness.
Location and access
some areas were a bit dusty in rooms
Superb location overlooking the lake. Nice room with everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Nice area to go for a walk or cycle.
I had an annexe room but there was no sound proofing in the ceiling, I could hear everything from the room above. Bar food was ok but disappointed with the breakfast.
Location and gardens are excellent.
Please is not well maintained. Electrics are suspect. Boiling the kettle resulted in the cable getting warm and the whole socket being tripped. Upstairs rooms are very small and not good value.
Beautiful location with stunning views over Rutland Water. Spacious and comfortable room and friendly and helpful staff.
There was broken glass on the floor around the courtyard which looked as if bottles had been broken outside. Also the standard of the cooked breakfast was very poor - clearly all cooked early so by the time we ate at nine it was all dry and overdone.
Location is excellent for connectivity
food was absolutely horrendous. Burnt toast for breakfast. Cheap ingredients at dinner.
Excellent view from our room across the lake & from garden & conservatory. Loved the Jacuzzi bath in our bathroom. A very comfortable super king-sized bed. A very friendly welcome on arrival by Receptionist, Georgie. A very varied buffet breakfast with plenty for vegetarians.
Certain Staff: Restaurant Manager was arrogant and unfriendly. He corrected a member of staff in our presence, which we found embarrassing & unprofessional. On our first evening we decided to eat in hotel restaurant. We found the service rather slow initially. On our last morning in the breakfast room, we were ignored & other guests ( who came in after us) were served before us. We had to make ourselves known to staff serving that day!!
Unfriendly staff Tiny room Mediocre food - medium rare bacon - yuk!
Location is lovely, so close to the water.
The room is in need of upgrading. I have never stayed in a hotel without a bedside light to read by!
bath tab,bed and just the location
Proximity to lake Easy feel to place
No bath - just shower
Location excellent right on the Water
When booking select a larger room,as standards rooms are Very very small
Lovely location, very friendly and helpful staff, very close to Rutland Water cycle hire (Giant). Boat hire and fishing in the area also. Perfect location for a relaxing few days for the family.
This is a beautiful building in a fabulous location overlooking Rutland Water and the lovely Normanton Church with easy access to the footpaths around the reservoir. The staff are friendly, courteous and efficient and the food in the Clock restaurant was very good. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Everything about our stay was good
lovely location.quiet.Nice and clean.Excellent room, with lovely views over rutland water.Good food.
on arrival we were sent to our room, only it wasn't the room we had been shown we had booked on the internet. However I returned to reception who rectified the matter straight away.
Location was excellent. The food in the restaurant was very good.
Some of the communal areas were untidy
Staff really helpful, rooms nice, clean and comfortable, food great, location excellent.
Late Check in, room was good but part of walls where plastered and left without sanding nor painting, in one of the rooms toilet ''comfort pack'' didn't work.
room not ready . We phoned night before to ask for a time of 12.30pm as we were attending a party at 2.00pm but didn't get in the room until 1.45pm
