As the old stables to a former large country mansion I feel that the way the infrasructure has been very poorly maintained and repaired is a disgrace Apart from the view to the water the restaurant has absolutely no atmosphere I feel that such a building deserves better and Feel that the management should be ashamed of themselves for letting it get in such a mess

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is outstanding Their administration is dreadful. We were there as part of a family wedding. We booked (and had confirmed) a lakeside exec room and ended up with a small room overlooking the car park, other couples had a similar experience and one couple ended up with no room. The shower was at best luke warm and at worst cold. The tv picture was bad.

nearby golf clubs (manton and greetam) - location and scenery - walks and countryside - peacefull - rooms were ok but quite small food was nt the best, and not very hot (breakfast) - drinks were exspensive - there were areas in the grounds that were quite tattly looking (the front area of annex was a corner for staff to smoke and glaass bottles were left out there) -

The View on to the lake was lovely We arrived for breakfast at 08.45 and had to find somone to ask where to sit . I had to eventually go and ask for toast and tea and after walking past a table found the drinks which you made yourself . The cooked breakfast was a buffet style but there was no bacon or tomato left It took 25 mins to get bacon by which time there were no sausages or beans left . The receptionist had to go to the kitchen to get food . We left before any more food arrived . On complaining we did not pay for the breakfast, not what we wanted to do but this very much spoilt the start to our day . There was a distinct lack of management throughout the stay but in particular breakfast Time .I belive the two waiters were doing their best . But at best thuis was shabby . Hotels only have to provide bed and breakfast , that can't be difficult.

Location beside Rutland Water. Room spacious and comfortable Not enough choice on the dinner menu, and the meals were more expensive than we wanted so we went to a local pub to eat.

Very good room for my elderley relative with disabled facilities on the ground floor withh a double room next to it. breakfast excellent. Quiet site, beautiful location. Easy parking. It would have been nice to have a coffee louge overlooking the reservoir. The conservatory was laid for lunch. Is there a room upstairs with lift?

The staff and food. Food is excellent, good value and good portions. Staff are very helpfull. The building is lovely, and it is the second time that I have stayed there. Staff went out of their way to be good to my 12 year old daughter who didnt like the evening meal menu, it was not a problem, they got her the lunch menu with more things suited to her taste. Twice ive stayed and I shall return. I find the more select Best Western Hotels are good value in general. Nothing to dislike

When we drove up the hotel grounds it looked really impressive & when we arrived at the front of the hotel it looked breath taking. The view from our room was beautiful overlooking the lake. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. We did get an excellent rate, as we booked late & got an upgrade. We would certainly go back again anytime of year, its a beautiful location. The meals & wine list in the resturant were a little expensive.

Lovely location on the shore of Rutland Water. Very convenient stop off point for travelling north. Convenient parking close to room. Expensive yet very ordinary food and drinks. Not enough staff. Noisy room with thin walls meant could hear other guests.

We were there for a wedding. The location was excellent. The hotel was very good. The staff were lovely and every request was carried out with a smile and good banter! The food during our stay was excellent and as the weather was so good we were able to eat outside! Everything was excellent! No complaints!

The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is good, however, what made my wife and I (both in our early 40’s) choose the Normanton in the first place was the location. This is our second year there but both times were for only one night. It’s quite isolated with regards to local amenities but it’s located right on the edge of Rutland Water, where you can walk, cycle, fish, sail or just chill until your heart’s content. We will most certainly be returning in the future. This isn’t a compliant about the hotel itself but both my wife and I feel that the occupants of the hotel would be best served with a more robust local information service whereby visitors, who are unfamiliar to the area, could be better informed about the facilities around Rutland Water and the surrounding area (eg. Cycle hire, boat rides / hire, nature reserves, historic sites, events, etc).

Had a very relaxing short break with a minimum of fuss and palaver. Only had breakfast at the hotel but it was most enjoyable. It was easy to book and the admin washandled very efficiently. Our room provided for all our requirements but the decor was a bit tired.

Friendly, courteous service where each member of staff made sure we were as well provided for as possible although having to walk across outside from our room to the lounge, dining areas etc. would have been less acceptable had the weather been inclement. The grounds and surrounds are excellent - just check the location of your room.

The only good point is the location being on the edge of Rutland Water The hotel is desperately in need of a makeover. Light bulbs did not work, extractor fan in the bathroom did not work which meant the room smelt musty and damp. Furniture old and chipped and too much in a small room.Bathroom old fashioned, towels washed too many times. No bottles of water provided. Staff trying hard but not winning - really it is trading on it's location and has nothing else to recommend it.

The location for walking around the lake was fantastic. The bar was comfy and breakfast staff excellent. I emailed to have soya milk for breakfast and was very happy to have it each morning. Thank you. I paid £85 per night for 3 nights. I thought that was quite expensive, especially for the non-weekend night. The room was shabby and needed updating. The windowsill was covered in dead flies! I thought we would have been inside the hotel and was surprised when we had a room in the courtyard.
