Value for money and location suited us just fine! Great staff who were very helpful and pleasant. Very quiet despite wedding reception which was going on at the time of our stay. Good breakfast.
Twin beds when we had asked for a double
The staff were friendly and polite.
The whole hotel was shabby. Desperately in need of decorating. Carpets were well worn and unclean. Bathroom average but the toilet had never seen any sort of cleaner around the rim. First bedroom even though heating was on, was still cold had to ask for extra heating. Changed bedrooms on second night, bathroom tiny.
Breakfast was excellent
Bedroom was cold, but a fan heater was available in the room.
The log fire in the bar.
We reported that the radiator needed bleeding because it was full of air and cold. We were promised that it would be attended to, but it was not and the room stayed cold.
Staff, who make the hotel, were friendly, helpful and did all they could to make the stay excellent value. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend to anyone whether visiting the area on business or for pleasure.
Heating was not high enough for a very cold night despite turning it up to the maximum temperature. Otherwise, I could not fault the facilities and value for money.
Nice staff Good food Quiet
Food, character, staff lovely.
No water pressure in shower - huge problem - love my power shower!
Welcoming and comfortable. Excellent dinner
Needed a lift as staircase very steep.
food lovely, breakfast and evening meal, staff excellent esp waiter at breakfast.
bathroom although very clean, a bit smelly.
Beautiful location, helpful staff, tasty breakfast,
Could update shower
Location Friendly staff Lovely breakfast Cosy open fire
Staff were friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Cosy and comfortable.
the staff was excellant, the lady on reception was fun polite and lovley, the waiter in the bar and one on breakfast duty on 8/11/14 were real asset to teh hotel. we loved it so much we have beeok our next visit in a few weeks, well done all
nothing you cant fault this place
I found that if there where more than 2 people at the bar it seemed to be hard work to get served.. 10 mins for 2 glasses of wine...!!
Beautiful hidden away location, lovely bar, cosy, comfortable, nice rooms. Food in the restaurant very pleasant if a little overpriced and staff attentive and friendly.
Unfortunately there was a wedding on the Saturday of our stay and other guests were running up and down the corridors slamming doors & shouting throughout the night. There were also children running amok in the restaurant that night whilst their parents were in the bar. All the hotel staff appeared to be busy with the wedding so our quiet meal was disrupted by children screaming and shouting, running around and playing on the piano. We are obviously aware that this isn't the fault of the hotel but it did affect our stay - had there been staff in the restaurant it may have discouraged the children from misbehaving and ruining our meal.
Nothing was too much for this group of staff! They made my stay a memorable one for all the right reasons,my pug dog was indulged too..the bar manager Thomas and the receptionist Joanne took her into their hearts. Highly recommended 100% customer service. There was a large Christening party present when I arrived and in order to provide a quieter place at the bar/lounge for myself and pug dog to settle,Joanne calked the room when they were dispersing and when eating my meal Thomas took ' Puggy' out for a walk round the hotel function suites and courtyard,he offered to and she felt very comfortable
nice surroundings, good friendly staff; clean and comfortable
shower was a bit old but it did the job!
Excellent helpful staff, super 'full Welsh' breakfast (buffet at weekend), large comfortable bedroom with huge double bed; and a good-sized bath as well as a shower cubicle. Lovely private parkland setting; Hotel entrance hall with impressive Victorian staircase, and adjacent Reception rooms.
Noise from A55 Expressway in our room (319) a little intrusive, despite double glazing - but at only 200m metres away across fields, the room is the nearest one to it. In the bathroom, a loose WC pan (!) + Shower valve, plus a 'tired' shower hose rather disconcerting - and plumbing rather noisy! When mentioned as we checked out, Reception apologised and said they'd be seen to asap.
Convenient location for Clwyd Theatre (Mold). Friendly atmosphere and efficient staff, An ideal week-end break.
Plenty of choice for breakfast but it could have been a little hotter. Warm bacon and beans is not recommended! I particularly liked the hands-on experiences (e.g. preparing your own toast, etc.)
Beautiful setting, staff are very friendly. The food was amazing! Would definitely stay again.
Nice location although a bit difficult to get to if you do not own a car. We booked the hotel as we were attending a wedding reception in the area. We enjoyed the lounge bar area - sitting on the comfortable settees with a great view out of the bay window. Pleased that real ale was available. I noted a wonderful collection of Scottish/Irish malt whiskies on display (did not drink any!).
Wi-Fi does not seem to be available in some rooms on the ground floor. Hotel staff moved us to a first floor room without any hassle. Also, electricity went off in our room - staff acted quickly to restore power. We had dinner in the restaurant - happy with the quality of the food but I thought the menu was a bit unadventurous and overpriced. Strangely, we had a bottle of nice wine supplied from Tanners of Shrewsbury which did not seem to be overpriced.
Staff were pleasant and the food was very nice and well presented!
My room was incredibly cold, I don't believe the heating was on once whilst I was there for the two days. Bare in mind this was the middle of October!
Such a beautiful house - everyone was extreamly helpful nothing was too much trouble. What a difference to the likes of the Holiday Inn and other large chains.
Lovely country setting. Comfortable lounges and restaurant with great food.
