The staff were very polite, helpful. The hotel was very old fashioned, there was no spa facility, or even hairdressing facility. I would have thought at a Gold resort of this size, these would be a given.

The grounds in which the Hotel is situated are beautiful, even if the Hotel is a little out of the way to all of the amenities and attractions that Skegness has to offer. The few staff that we did meet upon our arrival seemed polite and courteous and the food smelled delicious as we walked through to Reception to check in, although we were not around long enough to be able to sample this. The Bathroom in the room where we were meant to be staying looked nice and had both a bath and a shower. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lady on Reception who seemed polite in regard to her manners yet at the same time quite snotty. Whilst I was filling out the details required before checking in my partner was speaking to her and told her that he used to work for Best Western and we found her to be quite arrogant, only wanting to speak about her own role in the company. She briefly went through the room booking with us and gave us our keys, told us we had to go upstairs to get to our room and left us to it, no mention of whether we needed any assistance carrying our cases upstairs or anything. By the time we had turned round to ask her if there was a lift to get upstairs she had gone and was nowhere to be seen. After struggling with our cases upstairs, we entered our room. The first words out of my partners mouth were "Why are there two separate beds?" To which I had no answer. I got my phone and logged on to my email address where it clearly stated that I had booked a double room. I had a quick look round the room and although it was clean, it smelled very fusty and the floor creaked, and I mean creaked! Me and my partner were lost for words and sat down on the beds, which I thought were going to snap in half as we did as they were so rickety, whilst we contemplated on what to do. It was a Bank Holiday weekend and it had been a struggle to book even this place at such short notice. We began ringing round some local Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels but none of them had any availability for the two nights which we wanted. I glanced round the room in desperation that it would somehow seem more bearable to stay there and as I did so something caught my eye on the dressing table. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that next to the tray of refreshments which had been set out, there was a small white tablet!!!!! At this point I was absolutely livid. I am very vigilant when it comes to things like that as I am a carer by profession.

Location and view, car parking The shower was non functional - just a tap hose with no pressure and poor temp control. Room and furniture dated. The brand Best Western was not what is expected at this hotel. Food service stopped at 9pm, again not good for a hotel.

Bar service excellent + excellent beer I asked for a quiet room but ended up in a room in a downstairs corridor ,opposite the cleaners cupboard, next to and below rooms with no sound insulation either laterally or vertically and was constantly awakened throughout the night (from above) and in the early hours (from the side) and from 07:00 by the cleaners going to their store! Apart from this the room overlooked the main entrance road and there was quite a lot of traffic early on plus people chatting outside in the road!! Not at all recommended! Rubbish.

What I liked about Best Western North Shore Hotel & Golf Club, is that all the staff I asked Questions too answered me in a polite and kind manner, The location of the Hotel is in a short distance of the beach so you don't have very far to walk. The rooms were a good size for the price you payed for. It was just a nice and relaxing environment to be in. Also the games room was a decent size and a good place to chill out and play snooker/pool.

ample parking spaces, closeness to beach, helpfulness of staff they seemed knowledgeable on various queries not so much didn;t like but found the stairs an effort as I have bad knees, also there was some fan or machinery causing tv volume to be turned up it was so loud , just got used to the din then it stopped with a shudder this kept going on and off all the time.

The location adjacent to the North Shore Beach was excellent and for those that like gold the course looked good. The room was not prepared for our arrival. The bath room shower curtain was not attached to the rail. The basin was dirty and so was the mirror. There was no soap or shower gel and no towels in the room. This was mentioned to the receptionist who rectified the situation immediately and provided a free drink in the bar while we waited. The hotel appeared a little worn at the edges and could do with a makeover.

Thought the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, for a single room, was exceptionally spacious and very comfortable. Like the location, just a minute's walk to the beach. Normally stay at South View Park Hotel, but will definitely be going to North Shore Hotel again. Very reasonably priced as I normally have to pay for a double room at the other Hotel. Cannot fault it!
