My wife and I are originally from the Mumbles and were spending a weekend with friends, walking on the Gower Coast. The Norton House is ideally placed for this and for strolling through the Mumbles sampling the pubs and reataurants. The prices at Norton House are a little high, and the rooms could do with a bit of a attention, but breakfast is excellent and staff were very helpful. Try the xcellent beer in the Pilot and Waterloo.
Room was warm and comfortable and had everything we needed
Warm and welcoming. Staff helpful. Lovely old building and convenient location. Well signposted
Tired decor in bedroom, wallpaper hanging off in places. Couldn't work out how to switch off over mirror light in bathroom.
Norton House ticked all our boxes for a perfect stay in an area we know well. Very friendly staff, excellent service, good food, comfortable room. looking forward to our next visit.
Location was good and the place itself had a lot of character. The in-house restaurant is rather nice albeit on the exxy side.
The property is quite old, and it shows a bit. A lot of the rooms exit into the main yard \ car park, and there is no soundproofing, so quite noisy - can hear your neighbours using the bathroom ☺ Lastly, the lights outside stay on all night and are quite bright, so even with all curtains drawn it stays quite light in the room at night.
Big room, very comfy bed, very nice breakfast, for one of us, nice and clean.
Lack of water pressure in shower, not acknowledging my request for gluten free requirements. Being a coeliac is not a fad! The sooner hotels and restaurants realise this the better. Disappointed not in main period building but in new annexe.
An excellent 3 days stay in a wonderful location. Food was superb. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely return.
Our room was spacious with a king size bed and a sitting area with two sofa's. Plenty of parking.
The room had a whiff of considerable use and lacked freshness. The bathroom was really a glorified cupboard. At first we thought there was no sink until we found it behind the door. The shower was feeble beyond belief (heard another guest complain about his as well to the reception staff). Most rooms appeared to be outside the main building but the only Wi-Fi was in the main building and even then it was a bit iffy. An abundance of average-ness all round at the Norton House.
A la carte menu excellent, good food very well cooked and presented Friendly and helpful staff
noises during early hours, sounded like wheelie bin being dragged about and assorted muffled bangings and possibly a washing machine / dryer running Shower door didn't fit properly, consequently there was black mould outside of shower area. Bathroom floor could have been cleaner. WiFi connection indifferent
Apartment was exactly as shown on the website. Spacious bedrooms. Modern en-suite and modern kitchen. Helpful maintenance staff who came immediately to bring remotes for televisions and replace light bulbs. Lovely and clean and soft white towels for us all. Clean and soft bedding. wish we had been able to stay longer as very comfortable and very warm. Sea view from outside room and very close to the sea and close to 'The Mumbles' shops and restaurants too. We would stay there again.
T.V.'S didn't have remotes which are crucial for teenagers. They had been stolen by previous guests! We were given one for the lounge TV but they couldn't find one for the bedroom TV. We were in the end Caswell Apartment which backed onto the main road which was very noisy from road noise early in the morning and was a busy bus route. Perhaps would benefit from double-glazing to the rear of the apartments?
The staff were excellent. The food both breakfast and evening meals also excellent. Good location very near the sea. Easy parking. Attractive decor.
Our room needed bedside lamps but this may not applly to other rooms. Not a big problem as we were able to plug a standard lamp in and stand it by the bed. If you enjoy reading in bed this was necessary as the bed was a four poster with a canopy
Needed a lot of tlc! Carpet was ripped at the top of the stairs which was v dangerous! The bedroom furniture was falling apart; the hot tap in the ensuite was hanging off; the chair in the twin room was unsafe to sit on;the oven was filthy and there was no toaster; there were no lamps in the property so now ambiance. Very disappointing and shabby. This hotel used to have a good reputation. We won't be usu g it again.
Btrakfast Location Staff Welcome tray
Decor was a bit tatty Very creaky bed Hot water pump system so noisy from other rooms I don t wish to be woken up at 7 am by this whilst on holiday. Rooms too hot
The location is superb and the outside signage and lighting as good as it gets
Where do I start. Overpriced and poor quality food. Wine very expensive for the quality (with a suspicion that it was not what it appeared to be!) Room not clean cramped etc. a silly dressing gown each but no complimentary bathroom essentials just a soap on the wall. Poor all round
The food was very good. Good choice, good quality, nicely presented and good value. It was quiet thus our sleep was uninterrupted.
Bedroom 15 was over heated and no way to reduce it. The basin was badly cracked, the shower thermostat did not work thus it was unusable and the access to the room itself felt like it might have been conceived as staff quarters. It offered little in the way of storage for ones clothes ie four very tiny drawers and a cupboard with a shelf and a rail with three coat hangers.
Food in restaurant very good. Staff very helpful and friendly
Bathroom not very well laid out. Only one towel for the three of us. Outside tlc was needed paint coming off wood work was breaking
Clean and comfortable beds. Bathroom good except for shower..
Rooms were in outbuilding and one got wet when accessing main facilities. Outside porch lights could not be excluded at night even with blinds. Breakfast lacking choice of jams and items unavailable by 08.50 except by request after 20 mins wait. Shower adjustment very difficult in room 12.
Food was excellent particularly the fish
No bedside tables or any facility to turn lights on or off whilst in bed
Dinner was excellent and breakfast was also very good.
Good breakfast. Decent sized room.
Slightly dated decor.
Excellent bedrooms and comfortable beds, attractive location and an interesting restaurant menu which delivered for the items we had
Staff rather off hand/poorly trained. E.g. Taking food plate away before I had finished, barging into bedroom without knocking, receptionist trying to charge for stay without presenting me with bill. Few hangers, had to chase for towels
lovely location right nr the bay, very attentive staff, lovely breakfast and restaurant meal., lots of parking
The food was very good
The bar area was very quiet and therefore lacking in atmosphere.
Location and helpful staff
Limited Wi-Fi access and very little varieties for breakfast.
Friendlyness & efficiency of all the Staff. Quality & Presentation of the Breakfast, & especially the "Welsh Breakfast"!. Food generally excellent.
Telephone in the Double-Room did not work & was not repaired over 3 days. Surface area of bedside tables rather Small. Lighting somewhat poor.
