Tea and cakes on arrival and each afternoon. Excellent breakfast with good choice. Warm welcome with very friendly hosts. Comfortable room.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
Great service from Jayne shd bill, this is the difference between a b and b and a guesthouse because we felt like we where guests, room was spotless very relaxing place to be,you have to try the cake its delicious, and the breakfast was superb also, we will be definitely staying again
Friendly, welcoming hosts. I wanted for nothing. The coffee and home-made cake on arrival was a particularly nice touch. Attention to detail. Nothing too much trouble. Home from home bolt hole, especially for single traveller. Fresh, local and home produced foods used. Excellent local knowledge. Easy access to practically anywhere you would want to visit in and around Forest of Dean. My "tasting" pot of home-made marmalade was the icing on the cake!
Everything. From the moment we stepped into Norton House, we were spoilt. A cup of tea, cakes, brochures for the local area and a friendly, warm reception on arrival. The room was superb; clean, nice touches everywhere and the bed a dream. The breakfast was wonderful. Full marks for a top of the range B&B.
The house is delightful, we were welcomed with tea and home made cake was left for us. The room was simply lovely, I travel a lot but this is one of the few houses I would visit simply for pleasure. Breakfast was lovely and the owners couldn't be more helpful.
Nothing, not very easy to find in the dark but thats it.
V. friendly owners; v. good food.
This was a really cosy little B&B. Bill and Jane couldn't have been more welcoming, and the breakfast was superb. Very nice room with comfortable bed and all amenities with lashings of hot water. Comfortable guest lounge where Jane even laid on cake, which was very moreish.
Nothing we didn't like. Only regret is that we hadn't arrange to stay longer.
Old world charm, comfy 4 poster bed, good breakfast, proprietor (Jane) very helpful
Bill and Jayne are lovely people and I love the old world style of the house.
Fab location fab guest house excellent hosts
Lovely room, very good food, friendly and helpful hosts. We would stay here again in the future.
The room, lovely breakfast and very warm welcome with tea and lemon cake.
Stepping through the door was like coming home....warm, cozy, friendly. Thee most comfortable of beds, freshly cooked breakfast with great choice, not just full english. Engaging hosts who made you feel very welcome.
The fact that we didn't stay longer!
Norton House is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. We rented the Cider Loft for five nights. A welcome pack of fresh bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausage and cake awaited us. The facilities are spacious and warm. The kitchen is very well-equipped. Our stay was totally relaxing in every way. Bill and Jayne are perfect hosts. We cannot find fault with anything, and will certainly visit again when we are next in the area.
I don't know how the AA rate accommodation, but this was not a 4 star property and the guest reviews we read must have cone from older folk as they would appreciate this property more than us. Small bedrooms with outdated facilities.
Beautiful house and very friendly hosts and great breakfast.
Loved all the extra special touches and the warm welcome and lots of helpful advice about the area and where to walk.
Pretty much everything. An excellent welcome, the best chocolate brownies I've ever had, and free too!
As other reviewers have said, Jayne and Bill are charming friendly welcoming hosts. The guest sitting room with tea and homemade cakes provided welcome relaxation. The room was large clean and comfortable. Our dog was made welcome with no fuss. Breakfast was delicious and served in the beautiful dining room.
Again as one or two other reviewers have noted, the house is quite close by a busy road however if your window and original pine shutters are closed traffic is barely audible. It didn't disturb my sleep and I'm used to living in a very quiet place so don't let it put you off.
Too much to write in 200 characters but the breakfast choice was amazing and all locally sourced, lovely family run B&B, a quality of bedding I've never slept in :) snones throw from bike tracks and cannoing. Tea and homemade cakes on arrival, had so many extra things in the room that you would never see in other hotels and B&B... The little things go such a long way.
In a historic home. Great food. We'll be back soon.
Bill & Jayne made us very welcome. They were extremely knowledgable of all the local attractions and when they knew our interests were able to suggest some brilliant places for us to visit. The breakfast was delicious and all products sourced locally. The bed was the most comfortable We have slept in (we had the Monmouth room) and the toiletries were 'proper' size not diddly little sample pots. There was also the option to have fresh milk in a themos in case you didn't like the little UHT pots. We left to travel onwards to the Lake District and Bill gave us excellent directions to avoid congestion spots on M6. We left feeling rested, relaxed & thoroughly spoilt! We will be back - thanks Bill & Jayne! PS If you can't get the Monmouth Room ... it's because we're back in it!
professionally run, very friendly and excellent facilities. Very well placed for exploring the areas.
Very friendly hosts Good food
