Old world charm, comfy 4 poster bed, good breakfast, proprietor (Jane) very helpful
Bill and Jayne are lovely people and I love the old world style of the house.
Fab location fab guest house excellent hosts
Lovely room, very good food, friendly and helpful hosts. We would stay here again in the future.
The room, lovely breakfast and very warm welcome with tea and lemon cake.
Stepping through the door was like coming home....warm, cozy, friendly. Thee most comfortable of beds, freshly cooked breakfast with great choice, not just full english. Engaging hosts who made you feel very welcome.
The fact that we didn't stay longer!
Norton House is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. We rented the Cider Loft for five nights. A welcome pack of fresh bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausage and cake awaited us. The facilities are spacious and warm. The kitchen is very well-equipped. Our stay was totally relaxing in every way. Bill and Jayne are perfect hosts. We cannot find fault with anything, and will certainly visit again when we are next in the area.
I don't know how the AA rate accommodation, but this was not a 4 star property and the guest reviews we read must have cone from older folk as they would appreciate this property more than us. Small bedrooms with outdated facilities.
Beautiful house and very friendly hosts and great breakfast.
Loved all the extra special touches and the warm welcome and lots of helpful advice about the area and where to walk.
Pretty much everything. An excellent welcome, the best chocolate brownies I've ever had, and free too!
As other reviewers have said, Jayne and Bill are charming friendly welcoming hosts. The guest sitting room with tea and homemade cakes provided welcome relaxation. The room was large clean and comfortable. Our dog was made welcome with no fuss. Breakfast was delicious and served in the beautiful dining room.
Again as one or two other reviewers have noted, the house is quite close by a busy road however if your window and original pine shutters are closed traffic is barely audible. It didn't disturb my sleep and I'm used to living in a very quiet place so don't let it put you off.
Too much to write in 200 characters but the breakfast choice was amazing and all locally sourced, lovely family run B&B, a quality of bedding I've never slept in :) snones throw from bike tracks and cannoing. Tea and homemade cakes on arrival, had so many extra things in the room that you would never see in other hotels and B&B... The little things go such a long way.
In a historic home. Great food. We'll be back soon.
Bill & Jayne made us very welcome. They were extremely knowledgable of all the local attractions and when they knew our interests were able to suggest some brilliant places for us to visit. The breakfast was delicious and all products sourced locally. The bed was the most comfortable We have slept in (we had the Monmouth room) and the toiletries were 'proper' size not diddly little sample pots. There was also the option to have fresh milk in a themos in case you didn't like the little UHT pots. We left to travel onwards to the Lake District and Bill gave us excellent directions to avoid congestion spots on M6. We left feeling rested, relaxed & thoroughly spoilt! We will be back - thanks Bill & Jayne! PS If you can't get the Monmouth Room ... it's because we're back in it!
professionally run, very friendly and excellent facilities. Very well placed for exploring the areas.
Very friendly hosts Good food
Friendly and knowledgable owners. Tea and excellent home made brownies on arrival. Lovely old characterful building in a pretty setting. Fabulous cooked breakfast.
Traffic noise from the A40, it's closer than you think. Very warm evenings meant we didn't want the windows and shutters closed, the noise was disturbing for a light sleeper.
Greeted on arrival at the front door of this beautiful property, then offered tea and cakes whilst we had a chat and got to know about the area. Bill and Jayne were so friendly, and as it was our first time in the area they made sure our stay was one to remember and also ensured that we fulfilled every plan we had to explore the Wye Valley. We had the twin room which was a generous size and very comfortable. I especially liked the fact that there was everthing you needed from shoe polish to fresh fruit, touches you would normally only get if you had a hotel suite. The breakfast was made fresh to order and a great way to start the day.
Very friendly, welcoming hosts. Very helpful recommending vists, pubs etc. Excellent food, especially home baked cakes.
The house was lovely and the host.....Jane and Bill were both friendly and made us feel very welcome, even providing Bills superb Lemon drizzle cake on our arrival. I had tears in my eyes when I entered our bedroom because it was so lovely. I felt like I'd stepped into a Jane Austin novel, the tour poster bed was very comfortable...can't wait to go back.
Only thing we didn't like...was having to leave
Jayne and Bill are the perfect hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great advice on what to see and do during our short stay. Great breakfast and a very comfortable bed !
There is nothing to dislike about the Norton House
Bill and Jayne we're excellent hosts and the accommodation was first class. I can definatly recommend staying at Norton House.
We liked all the personal touches
We would have preferred some fresh milk
