This waterside hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Cardiff’s lively city centre. In a peaceful setting, it has an award-winning restaurant, a modern health club and spacious rooms.
Score from 493 reviews Good
Our room appeared to be recently decorated with a fresh, modern look. I would like to see the same 'fresh' look given to the front door, general reception, bar, dining area with the bar stools recovered and a coat of paint applied to the whole area. I believe this would greatly enhance the 'first impressions' of the hostel.
Good location next to centre and train station, very safe hostel, helpful staff, nice kitchen and communal areas. Decent size room with clean bathroom nice hot shower, plenty of breakfast and great selection of traditonal Welsh love spoon souvenirs for sale.
No curtains (had magnetic blinds which let in some light) 2 single matresses with very noticable springs and 2 single duvets for couple, floor not to clean and near a slighty too dodgy area for night time walking.
Tremendously noisy! Poor breakfast.
the location and staff were good.
The noise in the bar and the price.
Clean, Big rooms, reasonable price for bed
Exterior untidy, breakfast very basic, no fruit, just toast and marmalade, although price was reasonable I have stayed in similarly priced better accommodation
Location is brilliant.
After running a half marathon, the last think I wanted to do was go up and down the stairs to make a cup of coffee. Would be nice to have a small kettle and a couple of coffee/ tea sachets in the room.
The location was perfect- a ten minute walk from town centre, but far enough away that you're in a quiet neighbourhood when you're ready to go to sleep. The rooms were clean, spacious and modern and each had their own bathroom and shower which was an unexpected luxury for a hostel.
The wifi didn't reach our rooms (we were situated at the back of the building - rooms 54 and 55) and there weren't enough outlets to plug things in. However these two things were quite minor given that we were only sleeping there and spent the majority of the day out and about.
Quiet, clean, friendly staff, close to the city center
Wi-Fi did not work.
Great location, close to the station and the centre. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
It was very noisy during the night (or early morning), a lot of drunk people screaming outside and in the corridors. I wouldn't put curtain in the shower as it was smelly due to poor ventilation.
Spacious private room with own bathroom and shower. TV in room was great.
Very noisy if you have a room over the bar or outdoor smoking area. Also, the beds are a bit uncomfortable.
We were allowed to keep luggage in the hostel until our bus. Allowed to check in early. Lovely staff. Not noisy.
Good location Big room
There was no wifi The breakfast was poor Very expensive
But otherwise a bit rough around the edges. Very rough outside but a bit better inside. Our room was equipped with a kitchenette but we were told no food in the rooms so we didn't use it. The shower was great. Breakfast was simple but ample.
The pictures made me think I was booking in to a luxury hostel but it really wasn't. There was a busy bar on the ground floor and I was dubious about the safety of my car overnight.
The location is very close to the city center, castle, and train station. The interiors are bright, looks renovated, and the room was spacious for 3 people (with an extra leather sofa). Bar downstairs, breakfast in the morning (including fruits).
Shower is very tiny. No elevator (in case you have heavy suitcases).
good position for city They had a storage area for our bikes which was secure
Value for money easy walking distance to station and city centre
Location brilliant View - excellent Lovely and quiet Free parking during stay
2 single beds pushed together to make double. Staff could be more welcoming and friendly
- Private room was very spacious, included a sofa and even a small kitchenette - Nice patio, common rooms and kitchen, plenty of space - Very convenient location
Room didn't have a hair-dryer (though available at reception)
Friendly and helpful staff, location near city centre and Bute Park, parking space available, breakfast included.
A bit noisy caused by the wooden floors when people at the storey above were going.
For the money and position can't fault it , would use Again
No kettle in room
Excellent hostel, great staff and facilities. We had a great private room w/en-suite which was pretty good value for money.
Flat pillows. I'm sure if we asked we could have got different ones or a second pair. Also we were above the outside bar and although the bar closes at 11:30 during the week, people were still outside way past this time.
We were very pleased with the location (for the price), the size and amenities (such as the small kitchen area and tv) included in our private room, and the shared areas of the hostel. We would definitely return.
The floor was a bit dirty, but that would be our only complaint.
Central location , free parking , no hassle from anyone , live band , outside seating area , just brilliant
excellent location, free private parking, staff are very flexible.
breakfast *very* basic. a bit overpriced. for the same price you could get a room in a normal hotel (but with no parking and no breakfast).
