The Nottingham Gateway Hotel  

It had the potential to be a nice hotel but it is lacking.. The ducklings and baby moor hens were cute though.

Not a lot, the room was adequate although it needed some renovation in the bathroom tile area.. But it was clean.. The restaurant was however shut which was not stated on the website and when we went into the only other restaurant which was the bar ,the place was absolutely freezing and we had to ask for the heating to be put on, the food was absolutely terrible, on complaining to the waiter we were simply told that "the chef said he was sorry"... We did complain to the manager on leaving and she asked if there was anything she could do but we were on our way home and had paid the bill so she couldn't really, however, it would have been nice for her to offer to take some money off of our bill as compensation

The main problem with the hotel on Saturday nights in particular is that the hotel function room is directly below the bedrooms on the 1st floor to the right of reception. If there's a function going on then the noise comes straight through the floor!. If you're making a group reservation and you're not going out for a late night in the city centre then make sure you tell the hotel when you make your booking otherwise they'll allocate you rooms over the function room. (On the assumption that you'll be out until the early hours) The hotel staff are aware of the noise problem. On the night we stayed the hotel was full so they could'nt re allocate rooms.

Ample free parking and easy to find. Location is good as its not too far from city centre yet still close to main routes. Hotel wasn`t affected by road noise. Nice entrance giving the impression that it is a modern hotel till you see the rooms.

The facility`s here are poor. Only a restaurant and a bar here which are pleasant yet pricey. The hotel was a bit run down and dated. Old portable televisions with a poor selection of channels and wi-fi that regularly would lose internet connection. Paint on all/most woodwork was heavily chipped and furniture in rooms were olso old and in need of renewal but then this is reflected against the price. In comparison not as good as a Premier Inn or Holliday Inn but still acceptable as a budget choice.

Good location and parking and a really good breakfast

We chose to stay at the hotel because we were going to the music festival at Rock City. So the location of the hotel was great, Only 10 minutes away from the city. The Hotel looked fab from the outside as well as the inside!. Very posh! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It really was luxury, Especially for the price we paid. Myself and my partner would definitley stay there again. The room was very clean and had all the facilities we needed. Thank you very much for the excellent service provided. We will be staying with you again in the near future. :)

We enjoyed our stay,the first time was ten years ago,so we went back for our anniversary,the food is lovelywhich is one of the reasons we went back.and its such a relaxing place to just sit and have a chat.

Good location and easy to access, comfortable room and easy atmosphere.

Bar staff disorganized, public toilets in poor state of cleanliness, the breakfast service was friendly but I would strongly recommend you change the supplier for sausages as they where not very nice and I left them which is a waste. Better that they where a higher quality and guests can enjoy them more.

Because of a very stong smell of cigarette smoke we had to change our room. (It was very bad, in fact had we not been able to change rooms we would not have stayed at the hotel) although the 2nd room was just acceptable there was still a cigarette smoke smell present. The hotel stated that rooms had satellite tv, but, there was only a limited choice of channels and the picture quality was not of a satellite standard, in fact it was very difficult to define the picture. One positive was that the staff were friendly and helpful. We will not be visiting the gateway hotel in nottingham again.

Great cheap clean hotel about 3 miles from the city centre great for night out in Nottingham

Accommodation was clean comfortable, entrance although tired looking was still pretty good

The food was disgusting ~ over priced ~ over salted ~ and whilst it read like a good menu was not at all tasty, breakfast was equally as poor
