Only the location
My friend was coming to visit me at the hotel by car and we could not find the address of the hotel, I did not find the address in the room and did not find it through the staff WiFi quality was poor
Reception staff was very welcoming. My room was a nice size which was a delight. Breakfast staff where the nicest out of the lot. Very friendly, went out of there way. And I had a fantastic sleep!
Found empty sugar wrappers on the floor in my room. Bar man was very blunt and quite rood! Advertised mini bar in the room and the fridge just had water in.
Reasonable location and not ludicrously expensive. This would be a great city hotel if they'd give the rooms a little TLC.
Slightly knackered old bed and noisy air-con made for a restless night. Rather too many curly hairs around the bathroom too.
Spacious, comfortable room with good facilities for bathroom, in-room refreshments.VfM was excellent since I was using an advanced booking discount with no cancellation or refund facility. May not have been rated excellent had I paid full price.
I paid for car park on arrival and assumed my card had been set up to allow me to exit the following morning. I got to the barrier on the following morning but had to reverse back because my card would not open the barrier. Fortunately, there was no car behind me.
Great location, pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable quiet bedroom.
Convenient location Good facilities Reasonable value for money at discounted rate
Took a long time to check in and out Car park signage could be improved Buffet breakfast was not as hot/fresh as it could have been
The location just down the road from Temple Meads station is excellent and the city centre is within 5 minutes walk. The rooms were clean and bright and airy with a lovely, comfortable bed, blackout curtains, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and board and a good quality TV. Staff were all approachable, friendly and polite. Bar and food prices (other than breakfast) appeared to be quite reasonable. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering our room overlooked Victoria Street (Room 339) and we had horrible screaming kids next door which we couldn't hear from inside the room. Would I stay here again? Most definitely but I'm afraid breakfast here is out of the question and for leisure guests the end of breakfast is just far too early.
The breakfast prices were outrageously expensive. It's no wonder the receptionist tried to upsell an offer of continental breakfasts at £10 each instead of £13.95. The cooked breakfasts cost a whopping £16.95 which is only okay as long as you're able to claim business expenses but we were leisure guests. We got our breakfasts from the Tesco Metro a few doors down. The bathroom shower screen could have been better. There is a gap between the edge of the glass and the wall onto which the shower is attached. This meant that water from the shower trickled onto the bathroom floor to form a pool of water.
The coffee machine
Shower hose leaking all over the place Telephone not working No milk
Conveniently situated, well run and friendly, efficient staff.
The hotel has its own car park but unfortunately charges £10 per night for using it. This would put me off from staying there again.
Breakfast option was expensive
We booked into this hotel for 2 nights. On entering my husband remarked about the dirty carpet. I dismissed him not wanting to go to reception to complain and have the room changed. We have been travelling for over 2 weeks in Ireland and England. Bristol was our last stop before we fly out to Venice. After unpacking and on closer look, I noticed that the stain, whatever, it was must be really bad that the cleaners practically had to scrub it so hard that it practically bleached out the carpet. Going into the bathroom, turning on the tap, I noticed some white rubbery stuff coming out from the lever of the tap when I turned the tap on. It was white silicon glue inside the tap just about ready to fall out!! The mattress on the bed was hard, old and flat. The whole room was old and tacky. In fact this particular room is not fit to be let out to anyone. For a four star hotel, it was disgraceful on their part and we were indeed very disappointed. For your information, I have proof of the stained dirty carpet, the siliconed tap and the room number!
Everything as expected
Reception gave me all the information I needed and as I had to leave early a breakfast was waiting for me to take in the morning. Excellent service.
Decoration and natural day light.
To much noise during the night, with guests speaking loud outside their rooms, opening and closing doors without any care and respect for others that were sleeping.
Large spacious room.
The room was quite noisy - we were on the top floor and the noise seemed to come from an air conditioning unit nearby.
I found the staff in the hotel good and very helpfull after I left an important item in the room after I had booked out.
Coffee purchased in the lounge area was served cold.
Reasonably close to the City Centre (10 min walk). Friendly welcome on arrival - no problems during stay.
Breakfast on Sunday was a little sparse - although when I asked for more pastries this was followed up efficiently. Parking garage has a low ceiling - so watch out if you have a roof box!
Excellent English breakfast. Large room.
Too soft matrasse in bed.
Great distance between rail station and city centre as well as the venue I was attended an event at. Staff were friendly and cleaning was great.
I don't know whether I just had a noisy floor but I could hear very clearly other peoples conversations in the next room, lots of banging at odd times from other people on the floor so sleep probably wasn't as good as it could of been, wasn't that big an issue however.
Bed was really uncomfortable, I also thought it was quite expensive for what it was
Clean, new, looks good. Spa was nice. Food from the restaurant was great.
Terrible wifi connection. I used my phone's internet instead. Bed was very bad quality, very cheap - not what I expected from the price! Had bottles of water in the room....at £2.50 a piece. And the bathroom water did not taste drinkable. Getting the basics right should be the easiest part. But this hotel failed to do so.Shame.
The staff were excellent.
Shower head was leaking, thus reducing power
I booked this hotel after reading reviews and looking at the Novotel website. Unfortunately I feel the good reviews I had read couldn't have been further from what I had experienced throughout my stay. Upon check-in I paid extra to upgrade the room. Bigger bed, Coffee machine, Bigger room, Bose Sound system, Complimentary bottled water..... All sounded very nice, but.... the room was tiny and the bed wasn't any bigger than a standard double. I found myself drinking coffee and water at every opportunity just so I felt I got something for my money. Total waist of money. I also paid for parking at £10 per day. All you have to do is go to reception whenever you wanted to leave the car park to get your ticked validated. I must have had my ticket validated 8-10 times during my stay every time by a different member of staff and not once did any of them check to see if I had even paid for parking. I obviously didn't have a problem paying for the parking but again I like to feel like they have a process in place so that dishonest people can't get away with not paying for something that I have paid for. Breakfast was expensive and TERRIBLE! Only had breakfast once at the hotel and didn't even eat it. Went out for breakfast for the rest of my stay. Finally and probably the worst thing with it all is that I reported that there was no hot water coming through the shower. Hot water was coming through the sink tap and the bath but not the shower. My stay was for 4 nights and this was not fixed for the duration of my stay. I would never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend anyone else to either. There are better 3 star hotels in Bristol that are also cheaper. The reason I booked this hotel was for a treat but turned out to be a nightmare.
Bed was very uncomfortable Staff seemed lacking in basic skills - no breakfast time told, bar staff struggled to make a pimms. Breakfast was the worst of any hotel we have stayed in, was cold and unorganised. Duty Manager said Hotel Manager would contact us but didn't.
