a nice modern hotel with godd size rooms just a short walk to Princess street and castle. ( the hotel is behind the caslte)
Location, handy for the castle, old town and lovely bars and restaurants.
Breakfast could be better, scrambled eggs are rubbery and bacon not up to much but all in all a good place to stay.
The breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and plenty to go around. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. Decent facilities and in a good part of town.
The hotel could have been a little cleaner, particularly the pool/leisure area. Strange that the toilet was in a separate room from the bathroom and the room that the toilet was in didn't have a sink.
Room was spacious, liked the separate bath/shower. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Sauna and steam room were broken for two days, not enough staff at breakfast. Would have liked an adult only hour for the pool.
Such friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us. Our room was amazing and looked out onto the castle. There's a jacuzzi and pool which are included in your stay. I would definitely stay there again
Location was nice close to Grassmarket
Room was in a poor condition. window sill was nackered. Toilet is in a room of its own without a sink
I was a solo traveller but felt very relaxed and comfortable. Unfortunately I left my glasses behind...I contacted Angela it was no trouble for her to find these snd fotward them on..
Met all basic needs, leisure facilities in hotel, great location, spacious, comftable bed, ok breakfast, free wifi was handy
The receptionist was rude on arrival, they'd tried to make the room quite trendy but had very odd features, bathroom was small, unable to get a parking space on site and the staff didnt go out of their way to help
Swimming pool was good.
Sauna was freezing and wifi signal wasn't great.
Bed location and facilities
Slight smell from shower drain
Location of the hotel and an unexpected upgrade!
Unable to use the pool due to toddler swim classes being held
The leisure facilities were very nice apart from the steam room wasn't working but enjoyable none the less x
When we looked at a menu the food prices were extortionate ie 17.50 for a cooked breakfast even for Edinburgh that's very pricey and 6.50 for a tuna sandwich that's ludicrious also the room could have BN doing with more attention to cleanliness my bf found blood stains on the curtains plus the curtains were a different colour the nets were in need of a serious wash and the carpet could have been doing with a clean the toilet bedding etc was spotless though x
Room was way too hot. Staff unhelpful. Cleaning staff banging on our door at 9 every morning and claiming they didnt know anyone was in our room!
Seeing the old town , the castle , etc
The weather lol
Room was quiet/clean; nice to have separate toilet from bath/shower; large fluffy towels; breakfast good & varied.
Toiletries supplied are very basic & not much use (shower gel didn't even foam!); bed-linen had holes in it; wifi hardly worked in room.
Pool was too small and didn't look the cleanest so didn't use.
staff location comfort room service stylish
the room was a en suite room, to much sounds from the neighboring room
Large room, very comfortable bed with luxury cotton sheets. The swimming pool was a real bonus. Also, the buffet breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.
Comfiest bed Ive slept in, great facilities!
Not much heat in the room, radiator might have helped.
For having booked a superior double room was very disappointed by the room
Location was quite good
Staff were not particularly friendly and some of them had a poor grasp of the english language. Clearly very inexperienced staff across all parts of the hotel providing a low level of customer service. Room was not exactly spotless on arrival. Its the small things that make a visit
We liked the chance to explore Edinburgh by sightseeing buses (Grand 48) as one of us had hurt his knee. There are a lot of steps in the city but plenty of really interesting places to see though we could have done without the cold wind at Edinburgh Castle. Enjoyed a swim in the pool though it is too warm!
The sofa was very uncomfortable as the back is rounded. The washbasin plug needed to be wedged from underneath as it kept popping up but otherwise the room and hotel were lovely.
Nice location, bed really nice. Central to everywhere we needed and got at good price
Toilet in different room to sink, room could do with little maintenance ie some lights didn't work and drain cover in shower needs attached. Tap in bath was a bit dodgy. Bottle water in fridge but charging for it £2.50 each!
The Hotel itself was modern, bright and clean with excellent facilities. The Leisure Complex was compact but adequate. This is accessed via an entry code provided at check-in as these facilities are unsupervised.
We had problems logging on to the free wi-fi and the toilet (without a sink) was separate to the bathroom which was surprising for a 4* hotel and not very hygenic. We did not have breakfast or tea at the hotel as the menu was expensive and there are several cheap cafes and restaurants nearby that provide very good breakfasts etc for half the price.
