This was for our Honeymoon. Got a good deal on an advanced room rate (£240 for 4 nights I think). We battered our eyelids and managed to get an upgrade which was very nice of the hotel. The pool is small but functional and just what was required after a day walking round a very hilly city. The location is good and you can walk to most places. Also 2 of the tourist buses go right past the hotel. Many good restaurants in the locality. Al the staff were very friendly. Not enough places to hang towels. Breakfast is £13.95 which is very expensive. However they had a offer on for around £8 when we checked in which we took and was happy with. However there are many good cafes just a few minutes walk away that were offering all sorts of breakfasts including Bacon roll and a coffee for around £3.

We liked the position of the hotel in relation to the city centre. It was clean and the breakfast was fine. The length of time it took to grill 4 slices of toast by one of the staff. I asked for I think that it was because I complained that the do it yourself toaster either burned it or didn't cook it at all. I did expect the order to be done more quickly and with more grace.

Room was big and clean. Plenty of choices for the breakfast. The toilet and the bathroom were separate in the room I was staying and it was inconvenient. There was a strong smell of detergent in the lobby.

The room was smart, comfortable and made good use of the available space. Although small, the gym and swimming facilities were an added attraction. The breakfast was generous and tasty. The bathroom was rather compact and I would have liked to have a basin in the toilet room as well as in the bathroom.

I really liked the lay out of hotel. We were there with our 8year old grandchild and we could always keep an eye on her from the dining room when she is enjoying herself on the computer or childrens corner. What I could not get over was the chlorine smell that was always present in the reception area from the indoor pool downstairs. Maybe perfumed candles would help diminish the smell!!

I got a good deal two nights for €120 for a double room. I wasnt expecting much but it really is a top hotel. We had a large room with a king size bed shower and bath ensuite. I asked for a view of the castle and I got it! I also left my hat and scarf in the taxi when we left for the airport. I rang the hotel they contacted the taxi rank and posted them to me immediately! Imo The breakfast is very expensive at £14. There are much cheaper places in the city and just a 2/5 minute walk from the hotel. Tip: Bring good footwear as there are many steps and steep hills near to and from the hotel and all over Edinburgh.

Nice, friendly staff. Nice surroundings in the lounge area Room was very basic and due to being designed for people with disabilities, sink etc was very low which wasn't very comfortable as I am tall. Location was described as near shops etc but quite a walk away from princess street and due to this spent a lot of money on taxis as we were there for a theatre break and too far away from Playhouse even though advertised as close by.

The location was excellent, right in the heart of the city. I booked an executive room which turned out to be very disappointing. There was a separate toilet in what can only be described as a cupboard, no wash hand basin there. I found this unpleasant and unhygienic. I did not feel the extra money for an executive room was warranted at all as I could not see what made it better than a standard room.
