In the vibrant Jesmond area of Newcastle, New Northumbria Hotel features 2 restaurants, limited free parking and spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi. Jesmond West Metro Station is a 10-minute walk away.
Score from 1060 reviews Very good
Conveniently located off the A1 at the Metro Centre, this hotel is 10 minute drive from Newcastle city centre.
Score from 644 reviews Very good
One of the staff was frozen when we approched and she was unable to adapt the communication as we both are Deaf.
Lovely accommodation, bedroom -good size and convenient - near airport.
The staff were lovely, nothing was too much bother. The breakfast was amazing too, a perfect end to our holiday.
Pillows a little uncomfortable and some noisy stag groups in.
Location and price
Swimming pool and sauna
Cost of breakfast seemed high. McDonald's and other options within walking distance though.
We were all really disappointed with the tiny pool and the gym facilities as this was the main reason for booking that particular hotel. The Superior Room was not really superior, very cramped for two adults, 11 yr old and 15 yr old.
The breakfast was outstanding, full english and continental. Excellent. Very well located hotel, 5 mins from Newcastle, close to motorway but not too close. Very nice decor in lobby/restaurant area.
Doesn't compare to other Novotel I have stayed in. Is more basic.
Only a short taxi ride from the center. Requested interconnecting rooms which we got on arrival and also an extended check out of 1 hour.
Room very cramped, three beds for a couple!
Nice and quiet
The hotel could do with a little TLG.
Good location near public transport.
I was absolutely disgusted on checking out to find that I was being charged 100 euro for deep cleaning of room accused of cigarette ash in the room which there wasnt.Nobody smoked in the room.Completely disgusted. What should have been a comfortable stay due to family funeral just added stress and upset to the whole trip.Would not recommend the hotel to anyone to stay in.Didnt eat in the hotel as numerous residents complaining of quality of food.We ate elsewhere. Also paying to park your car while staying in the hotel I find a disgrace.
The facilities and staff were brilliant
unable to locate remote for tv, it was after 2200 hrs, informed reception when checking out. Toilet flush was running all night ..very annoying ,informed reception on leaving.
somewhat worn out and outdated, dirty carpet, real keys instead of cards, no locks for toilet & bathroom (which are separate ftm), very slow free wifi, breakfast meals quality was not superb, not enough wall outlets.
good location, big lobby area, bar onsite, no problem with parking which is for a small extra fee.
Service from dining room staff - we felt we were doing them a favour by being there for dinner. Did not know the menu...slow service..Had to request service....one person should not be there.... No management. Third night eat elsewhere. (Breakfast staff good)
Quality of the food. Breakfast & dinner was extremely good.
Room decor/carpets tired Very average food at function attended Below usual Novotel standards
Staff Gym Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows
Originally put in a handicap room that was only set up for 3 people - thankfully the hotel wasn't full and we were able to switch rooms but it was a bit of a hassle with two adults and two young children.
We got a prepay deal of £35 for a family room so it was an outstanding value. Within easy reach of the city centre without the noise and cost of staying downtown. Even with the £6 car park fee it is a great deal (although, a hotel owned car park outside of the city charging a fee is a bit obnoxious). Hotel was clean and staff was friendly.
water in pool could have been cleaner. Charged for parking but a sign outside says hotel are not responsible for damage or theft???
The hotel was clean, comfy and near shops, metro station and a Toby pub restaurant minutes away
Room service was limited so went to the Toby Carvery instead - which was faster and cheaper than room service. The hotel is some distance from the city centre - we were charged £15 for a taxi to the Metro Arena but managed to get a Metro train back that only cost around £3.50.
The hotel offered good value for money, was clean and had comfortable beds and a great TV - very clear picture.
The carpet in the room looked a bit dated. Replacing the carpet would add a fresh look to the rooms.
Hotel was in a great location with easy access to A1. It had a private and secure car park (charge is £6 for 24 hours). Family room was spacious and the free wifi was really good compared to other hotels. Great buffet breakfast with plenty of choice and it was good quality food. Will definitely recommend and will stay again without a doubt
noise from the A1. Paying for parking
Very clean. Pleasant staff
slow lift - unfriendly receptionist when arrived - parking cost isn't shown on hotel tariff
room facilities were good - friendly restaurant staff - most receptionist were friendly
Absolutely no complaints
Very handy for the Metro Staff were very friendly and whilst being professional
Room was a little warm at night
Lots to keep children occupied
Paying for parking.
Good nice hotel. Nice swimming pool and sauna
A water cooler would have been nice as it would have saved having to buy water from the bar.
Good facilities with an excellent breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay.
