Score from 305 reviews Very good
Excellent check in, comfortable room.
Car park is very small and difficult to park in. Noise when in a room at the front of the hotel.
Location ,clean,bright room,
The hotel was right in the center of Reading. Rooms were nicely done, reminded me of a Marriott hotel. Hotel had a swimming pool & gym which was good.
The rooms were nice but the toilet was separate to the bathroom which is a good idea but it didn't have a hand basin in it. Was staying over on business and sharing a room so you still had to use the bathroom to wash your hands. The main problem was the lack of working A/C, I told the reception and they said they would get someone to have a look at my room but after speaking to my friends who where staying in 2 other separate rooms they complained of the same thing.
Close to station ( 3 minute walk) Very clean & modern
Breakfast over priced
Staff, location, room
No hot water in shower at 9.30am. When I got in at 2am there was no room lighting and reception had to come up to enable it via a control box
Everything we will definitely come back
The out side noises
Friendly staff. Quiet rooms.
Access by car. The one way, bus and taxi lane poor signage. Who ever designed the town routing around this hotel better seek treatment before to long. Lack of hot water in the morning.
Not many reading centre hotels have a pool and this one was great! Staff very good and helpful. Room was well sized and modern, clean too. Location is perfect for a weekend in reading! Worth every penny!
Nothing ... Everything was spot on
Location and breakfast
Bed was awful.
Swimming pool was perfect, great temperature and very clean. You must order a Warm Brownie from the bar, it is amazing!
Was a bit unsure of some staff's correct knowledge of dealing with electrical fire! Small fire broke out with the toaster, while it was in flames one worker poured water over it, while it was apparently still switched on! Not too sure that was a good idea!
The beds were very comfortable and the room lovely and quiet.
The staff were rude / unfriendly / non welcoming both in reception and at the bar - perhaps could force a smile sometimes. £2.50 for a bottle of water in the room - somewhat over priced.
Upgraded room was lovely with extra space.
Water didn't go down the basin plughole! Reported but not resolved during our stay. Balcony area full of rubbish ie old rusty beer cans. Also minor point but when you have long hair a hairdryer that you have to keep your finger on the button all the time isn't any good.
Staff could not speak/understand English. Lots of customers were trying to check in and they couldn't find details and eventually you had to write it down.
Everything was perfect
Location - couldn't be better for easy access to the station.
Given a room at the front of the hotel which was noisy all night due to club and pub goers. Hotel not busy so could have been given a room at the back. Lunch was not good but no time to complain as we had a deadline to meet. Generally the hotel looked like it needed a refurbishment although it was clean it looked scruffy. eg stained carpets, dull paintwork and hideous works of art on walls.
Location was good
Carpets a little worn, AC not very effective Breakfast needs more healthy options
The location, the friendliness of the staff, the fact we were given an upgrade.
Free wifi somewhat slow.
The reception staff were very helpfull and polite, the whole saty was extremly good.
Breakfast was very expensive, i chose not to eat breakfast at the hotel due the cost, found a local cafe / that cooked a great breakfast for £5.00
Very convenient location right in centre of Reading. Staff helpful and polite. Room spacious and comfortable.
Usual downsides of City location - no inclusive parking and street noise in room until early hours, Friar Street has fair amount of Clubs. Breakfast a little chaotic and some items ran out and took long while to be replaced. Two bottles on water in room assumed to be complimentary (as was case in other recent stays in 4 star hotels) but we were charged £5 for them on checking out - could have put a notice up as most other hotels give them free.
Amazing hotel and fantastic location. Would definitely use them again
Fire alarm went of at 4am and then again 8.30am. They didn't really seem apologetic
The breakfast. The location of the hotel.
The hard bed.
The central location of the hotel and the leisure facilities especially the swimming pool and steam room.
no parking facilities
