Novotel Southampton  

We stayed at the Novotel pre-cruise. Very convenient location all round with only a short but pleasant walk into town for dinner. The room was exceptionally quiet and the bed very comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet with freshly cooked hot items. Vey close to an array of large stores including Boots Chemist which was ideal for us. A check-out of 12 noon was a great added bonus and as we could see our ship from the hotel and had plenty of time we decided to walk the 10 minute stretch to the pier instead of taking a taxi. The price was very compeitive. Given what we needed for a one-night pre-crusie stay I would not hesitate to book the Novotel again.

We stayed there on route for a cruise and return very handy to the terminal

On arrival to Novotel we got a free room upgrade, this was a great cos we did not expect it!! The food was also very nice and the staff were very helpful!!

We chose to stay here as we were going to a favourite restarant to celebrate our anniversary-and wanted to do some shopping in the day The staff were extremely friendly on reception and in the morning the breakfast staff were lovely too - the cleaning staff also made a point of saying hello- this all adds to a pleasant stay-We liked the modern style of the hotel and location and would stay again.

Location good for access to docks for cruise ships.

Room very dusty. Minibar/ fridge dirty. Plug didn't work in bathroom sink and leaked all over bathroom floor. I mentioned this to reception when checking out. They said thanks and that was it. Despite not having to pay for parking, no other goodwill was offered. I should think that the parking should be free when staying at the hotel anyhow. I felt that the hotel was quite expensive. Will choose elsewhere next time.

Felt the prices at the bar were very high and did not have any real ale on offer, also was a bit put out when we came to pay for our over-night parking as we had been quoted £4 and the car parks themselves were clearly marked as £4 but when we came to check out the lady on reception said that they had gone up on the 1st Jan to £5 ! Only £1 I know but it's the principle, we should have been told this when we arrived at least, in fact the receptionist when we checked in and asked how we go about paying for the parking actually said to pay £4 in the morning on our ticket and didn't mention there was an increase.

Very modern, bright, clean and efficient. Very handy for the Cruise Ports.

Difficult to initially find the access to the car park.

Everything was clean and modern looking. Pets were allowed which is excellent as we have a small dog. The room service menu offered a wide choice at great prices compared to many of the hotels I stay at. Although we didnt have time to use it the spa facilities looked lovely, great to relax during a city break.

Nicely situated to reach parts of southampton within 15 mins of travel . near to a retail park for shopping etc, very nice hotel friendly staff and very clean and modern design would definately stay there again

Breakfast buffet was varied and very good, hotel cleanliness was top notch and the beds in the room were very comfy.

This is not a complaint, just general feedback. Reception staff were nice, however, did not seem to have guidelines on how their car parking hours/fares worked and couldnt assist on foreign exchange, which would be helpful when staying in a hotel abroad.

The hotel is conveniently situated near the train station and close to shops and five minute walk to town staff are very friendly and helpful
