The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Service was excellent and cleanliness of the hotel in general was very good. The only small downside to our stay was the noise from the Christmas Partys which went on too long into the early hours of the morning. |

Convenient for city centre and parking facilities. Breakfast time was a bit hectic and not enough staff but food was good. |

The room was superbly clean, and nicely decorated. The breakfast was excellent, and even though it was very busy, the staff worked hard to make it run smoothly. The room was exruciatingly hot during the night. There was no radiator to turn off, so I tried the air conditioning and it obviously was not switched on so would not work. We had to open the window completely,and noise/rain stopped us getting a good night's sleep. For the price we paid we expect a good night's sleep. This is a real shame as everything esle about the hotel was excellent. People should be warned to question this on booking in - is the air conditioning system actually functioning? |

Came to York to Christmas shop and to see castle, museum's, art galleries and the minster. Good location for all these, far enough from the centre of town for it to be quiet yet close enough for an easy walk back. Found the room quite small compared to similar hotels and the price was pretty steep, but, the view from the room (rear) was lovely, the staff were very polite, pleasant and helpful. I especially liked the idea of separate loo and bathroom (just like home!). My son (20) came to join me and he had the sofa bed which he found very comfortable and this arrangement worked well. Had room service on the first night which was prompt and good value for money.All in all a very enjoyable stay ~ would come again and recommend to others. My only comment would be the small size of the room ~ have booked superior rooms at other hotels and they have been considerably bigger than this one and cheaper. But would like to emphasise this did not put me off. |

The hotel was in a great location and offered spacious, clean and modern accomodation. Our room was a good size and had all a great bathroom. |

Staff were friendly, the room was great, it was quiet The only thing I was not thrilled about was the location. And free wifi should belong to the standard service of any hotel by now. (It could make a decisive factor when choosing a hotel for me and many people that I know, just because we don't want to bother with buying hour passes....) |

From arriving to leaving, the hotel service was excellent even though the hotel was full to capacity, nothing was too much trouble. I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years both as a family with young child and now as a couple because of its location and friendliness. |

Really friendly, helpful and professional staff.. They are a real credit to the hotel. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very good dinner in restaurant. Good location - easy walk to City centre. Clean and comfortable room. Good communication facilities. |

The convenience, within walking distance of the city center. Good parking, not too expensive. Good, clean rooms. The only thing to be improved would be the queing for breakfast |

Well presented clean and tidy and well layed out. Helpful reception staff. Breakfast room staff not as friendly as the others which made me feel uncomfortable which should never happen in a hotel of this standard. |

We arrived two hours before check in time and was pleasantly surprised that the receptionist allowed us to check in immediately giving us more time to enjoy the Christmas markets.The receptionist was extremely helpful , giving us a map and information booklet on York. We have stayed at the Novotel in York before and would definitely book here again. The breakfast choice is great and sets you up for the day. |

The lady on reception was very knowledgable about both the hoteal and local area. The hotel lobby was in a disgusting state when we arrived. We where not offered any facilities to open a credit account for room service. There was no information in the room regarding the facilities available at the hotel, meal times, bar times. When we ordered room service we were advised that I should take a credit card to reception so that I could open a credit account. To say this was inconvinient is an understatement. When i asked if i could pay by card for the room service I ordered, I was again advised no. The hotel bed was lumpy which has caused my partner to now have an aching back. To be honest, we couldn't wait to check out especially after the mass produced cold breakfast that we endured. We checked out around 8:30 |
