The hotel was a short walk in to the centre of York. Lots of parking, although you don't need your car to visit all the sights in York. The river side walk from the back of the hotel was very pleasant. Lots of guests took advantage of the indoor pool. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. All the staff at the hotel were very helpful. We stayed in a Queen Superior room which had a very modern bathroom with toiletries and a very comfortable bed. Would stay at this hotel again and would recommend this hotel to families and couples alike.

The staff, especially the restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very expensive and therefore we chose not to eat in the hotel for breakfast.

The staff were very nice to the customers, service was quick and they always had a smile on there face. The room was very nice and clean and I was so pleased to see a bath instead of just a shower room.I Would stay at the novotel again if it was cheaper I thought it was expensive £125.00 a night with no breakfast or evening meal included in the price. I got a shock when I went to book in and asked what I had to do with my parking ticket and the man said you pay when you leave the hotel and I was told that would be £14.00 in my case.Parking should be included in the price of your stay not added on when you leave. Also in the rooms there should be more tea and coffee sachets.

We like the staff who were mostly friendly, in some cases business like. We had a problem with our toilet in the room and this was dealt with as efficiently as possible. I used the pool a couple of times and this was ok. Breakfast and the meal we had in the restaurant was very good. I don't have a complaint as such, just and observation. I think the tea and coffee at breakfast could be improved on. They tasted like dishwater. Whilst I understand you have to make money and use the cheapest ingredients, for the price you are charging I think people expect something of good quality.

Great location - walking distance to city centre but reasonably quiet setting. Good breakfast selection; restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was a hassle. We had to fill in registration forms for multiple rooms with very dim lighting in reception. Prefer it when hotels have these prepared when you arrive and it's simply a case of checking and signing. Also expensive for this class of hotel but it is in York...

Sight seeing around York The bed was like sleeping on a camp bed - the worst hotel bed we have ever slept in!!!!! Also the pool area was a bit shabby i.e. roof tiles missing or stained

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was within walking distance of York city centre, and had a swimming pool. Not really anything that the hotel could do about it, but being a bank holiday, the hotel was full of kids, and the pool was packed.

Location was good for the city centre. Also liked the fact that we could take our Dog with us. We found the seperate toilet odd. Would be better as one large bathroom.

The fact that breakfast wan't included in the room rate was not good considering the price to eat breakfast at the hotel was £13.95 which is ridiculous!

Liked the room, bath and shower. Bedding was nice and whole htel nicely decorated. I had stayed at the Novotel previously and the room we had then was nicer. The menu was over priced and lacked decent vegetarian options. Far too complicated.

The location was initially difficult to find and there were no specific directions on the website. It was in fact off the main road and not directly on Fishergate

The toilet stank of cigarette smoke indicating previous occupants were using it to beat the smoke detector. The price of a meal, considering the wealth of restaurants within walking distance and especially the cost of breakfast when there is a Wetherspoons 2 minutes walk away. Having to pay for parking.

“The Minster hotel has really improved since our last visit 3 years ago. There has been extensive refurbishments and the room that we had on our visit was first class. Breakfasts were made to order and were of a good standard. It is in an ideal location for all that the city of York has to offer.” Andrew, Boness |
