The convenience, within walking distance of the city center. Good parking, not too expensive. Good, clean rooms. The only thing to be improved would be the queing for breakfast |

Very pleasant stay, including excellent breakfast We were offered a room upgrade which we accepted so we didn't experience the room we had booked via late rooms |

I enjoyed the friendly reception and smiling staff, the comfortable room with modern fittings (shower especially) and a meal in the restaurant The loo in my room was very poky, not good for claustrophobics |

The lady on reception was very knowledgable about both the hoteal and local area. The hotel lobby was in a disgusting state when we arrived. We where not offered any facilities to open a credit account for room service. There was no information in the room regarding the facilities available at the hotel, meal times, bar times. When we ordered room service we were advised that I should take a credit card to reception so that I could open a credit account. To say this was inconvinient is an understatement. When i asked if i could pay by card for the room service I ordered, I was again advised no. The hotel bed was lumpy which has caused my partner to now have an aching back. To be honest, we couldn't wait to check out especially after the mass produced cold breakfast that we endured. We checked out around 8:30 |

My wife and I were both very happy with all the facilities at the hotel. We didn't use the pool as it appeared to be very small |

The hotel was very welcoming and all the staff were very good. It was a little difficult to locate as the entrance was not clearly sign posted. |

Very friendly staff, clean rooms and nice breakfast a little further out of the city centre than I would have liked, but this was down to me not being very familiar with the city when I booked. |

the car park was convenient.being so close to the city centre meant we could go to most places on foot. The bar appeared alittle expensive and appeared geared to the travelling businessmen |

I found the room comfortable but expensive room only as breakfast was very costly. on entering room bed settee was made in to a bed wish was not necessary as only 2 adults in room I found this off putting from the start. |

The room was clean, check in proceedure slick. £5 to park in a hotel your a resident at though is a joke. The barman during the evening was aggressive, rude, unhelpful and generally unpleasant. I would never use the resturaunt or bar at Novotel again based on this experience. The duty manager had no control over this guy and allowed the barman to continue to abuse me while I was at reception making my complaint. |

This is a very child-friendly, comfortable hotel, with a very good location within walking distance of York. An excellent choice for a family city-break. The staff are first-class; very helpful and friendly, and extremely quick and active in sorting out a couple of minor problems which arose. A child's teddy bear which was accidentally swept up with the laundry was swiftly replaced with a very handsome substitute! The breakfast food is very good, but there are queues at busy times, perhaps due to not enough staff to clear tables and serve, rather than lack of space; but the problem clearly did not go unnoticed by management and efforts were made to improve the situation. |
