I liked nearly everything about this hotel especially the family feel. The breakfast were very good and the pool was a great addition
The only issue we has was the sofa bed in the room was very springy we had to pad it up with what we could find.
Indoor swimming pool, childrens play room, Wii in reception
bed settee uncomfortable, had superior room and felt it camped. Children allowed to run riot at night
Location Pool Breakfast
Breakfast very good, cleanliness excellent.
After booking two nights stay we added a third night which we unfortunately had to cancel because of unforeseen circumstances. The manager was most unhelpful when I asked for a refund of the third night even though I offered to accept a credit note for a future stay or food under the value of the room hire. All I got in response was that it was company policy to not provide refunds or credit notes unless they could fill the room on that night, from that I assumed that he meant the hotel would have to be totally full, I would think this hasn't happened on any night during the last year so this was a futile gesture. Will not be returning to this hotel!!
Great location.Great value, Clean with friendly staff, Hearty breakfast ,something for everyone. Would definatly stay again.
car parking a bit excessive @£11 per day. Pool on the small size and odd shape !
Location good room nice and clean
I don't feel it is fair charging £11 pounds to park .we were also disappointed that very scarce on the tea facility as no tea bags for the morning .also would have been nice if some complimentary nuts or crisps would have been available .
Cleanliness and very helpful staff
Having to cross very busy roads in order to get to the centre
Staff were excellent and very attentive.
Cost plus an unexpected parking charge.
location, staff, facilities warm, welcoming atmosphere.excellent rooms .
price & choice of food in hotel,£13.99 is very expensive for a continental breakfast . I would have paid this for a full english but not for toast or croissants , cereals or yoghurt. there is just so much bread you can eat. luckily there is a nearby wetherspoons .
The hotel was in a good prime location, the hotel was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and professional. Nothing to much trouble.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us an early check in so we could attend the snooker.
We couldnt fault it
Location Friendly staff Good cleanliness
Breakfast was poor, quality of food felt like 'value' range
We were VERY disappointed with the accommodation: * We had we been assured we would be given an additional bed for our 11 year old son (which we have in writing). We were taken to another room but this was identical to the original room. * Very small room (barely enough space to walk around the bed/sofa beds) * Very dated (woodchip wall paper etc) * Featureless, uninviting décor * The sofa beds were not level and had a distinct slope to them * Window leaked * Shower screen too small causing water to spray onto the bathroom floor * Very poor reception on the TV (we called reception who advised it was the weather, but the next morning when the weather had cleared there was no improvement) * Our booking confirmation stated 'Superior Queen Room'. We feel it is against trading standards that the hotel is allowed to describe such a small, dated, featureless room with such a grand title? RESTAURANT * Plates were dirty * Inadequate lighting - very dark and dismal * It was 40 minutes before our drinks order was taken * We were in the restaurant for over 2.5 hours (clearly not ideal with 2 young children) * Service was very slow * Wine glasses had lipstick on them and had to be replaced * Some food had to be returned as it was cold We had booked the hotel a few weeks before travelling and paid full price for our stay. We did not receive any discounts or special offers. This is by far the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in
Quality of the service Helpfulness of the staff Excellent breakfast Fabulous rooms Very comfy beds
Convenient location. Staff very efficient and friendly. Comfortable room with everything we needed. Good value.
Every thing was fine
Hotel was in a nice, quiet location and reasonably near to the train station, eating places and town centre. Excellent location for reaching the Barbican centre for the snooker we came to watch! Would happily stay at the hotel again.
Staff member who greeted us did not speak clearly; mumbled and spoke quickly. We asked whether we had paid in full and understood that this was indeed the case. We were given a welcome letter addressed to a male when, in fact, the person who reserved was a female. The booking confirmation received advised that we had paid for the stay in full but were told upon leaving the hotel that a staff member had incorrectly entered a single night stay on the computer and charged us only half of the full amount, so were forced to pay more money upon check-out. The booking system could therefore be improved. Only other concern would be the noise of the air conditioning/heating system during the night, which also made the air in the room quite dry and thus felt dehydrated.
The room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent
Paying for WiFi is not the future
I loved the fact that it was right near everything ,and the staff were brilliant
Caring and personable staff. Good breakfast. Ample size room.
Lampshade broken in room. Striplight in bathroom had broken shade too.Separate toilet very dated and pan itself needs updating. Ceiling had dirty marks. Star rating not reality!
The Location was Excellent, a short 10 minute stroll put you in the centre of all the attractions within York. A vast choice at breakfast & staff very helpful.
Wifi was very expensive when you consider it is free in the city centre. Bath was too small & I found the bar prices quite expensive.
Service from reception Fridge in room Buffett breakfast Pool Great location
No air con in room as was winter however the rooms were v hot and requested for a fan Parking cost
Stayed for just one night for my dads birthday. We had 3 rooms and all were lovely. Really friendly staff. Great buffet breakfast. Will stay again next time in York.
Mini bar???? All it had in it was water.... and £2.50 a bottle!!!!
The location was central and easy to get to surrounding shops and restaurants.
Booked the executive suite for my partners birthday. Unhappy with cleanliness of the room and the noise level (mainly children knocking on doors all afternoon and running off). When speaking to reception was told all the children had now left and would not continue!!! Many other complaints which asked to speak to the manager about -who was not available and would call me back within 2 days - still no callback 3 weeks later!
