This magnificent 5-star Georgian town house has free Wi-Fi and stylish rooms, all featuring a 42-inch plasma TV, DVD player and slate bathroom. It is in historic central Edinburgh, half a mile from Princes Street. The rooms are all individually designed, and have luxury bed linens and a choice of pillows. Some feature floor-to-ceiling windows, others are smaller, yet stylish and functional. Some suites also feature Jacuzzi baths. The Christopher North’s Restaurant offers food that is fresh, organic, and locally sourced whenever possible. There is a bar for guests to enjoy, and the night porter can serve drinks after midnight. The position was perfect -close to the city centre but also completely quite among garden squares linked by cobbled streets. Parking outside, but able to walk everywhere.

Fantastic location and beautiful building. Nice bathroom. Room was below ground level and very noisy, as under the stairs. Was very cold in bedroom in evening. Curtains did not cover the window. Bed was on wheels and therefore moved around in night as on wooden floor! Odd choice of decor E.G. bizarre chaise lounge in room, which I couldn't really use and was a bit of an odd choice in such a small space. Also, magazine cutout style pictures on walls!

Stayed in a jucuzzi suite and had an amazing weekend would definately return but would need to be another special trip as it was quite pricey for the suite and would hate not to get similar/same room again!

Staff were helpful with printing a document. "best" room in the hotel was in need of some attention to the fixtures - loose / broken floor tiles and broken glass shelf next to the bath. Coffee but no tea in room - but that was sorted promptly after calling reception. Flattest G&T I've ever had - even on the second attempt.

Location big room big plasma tv. Very over priced for the facilities and service. The spa did not work in the bathroom! Provided slippers but no bathrobes?? Tea making facilities but no glasses for a glass of water?? Very glitzy black and silver decor but comes over as cheap and tacky. Very noisy room over the front door. The staff were totally uninterested in how we enjoyed our stay.Just wanted payment, never asked if everything was ok with the room and the stay.

We liked the quiet location and the beautiful georgian house with high ceilings and large sash windows. The staff were helpful and polite. The fact that that it was a hotel that was not part of a large chain appealed to us, which makes it a bit quirky and more individual. The "executive suite" although not huge, was big enough and comfortable. We enjoyed the jacuzzi (which was huge!). Parking was available outside the front door and was free over the weekend. Breakfast was enjoyable and included in the price. Some of the finer details had been over looked. These factors did not spoil our break in the least but would look more professional and improve customer satisfaction. A little dusty - some of the surfaces had not been cleaned recently. Only two coat hangers in the wardrobe so had to request more. Dispite emailing the hotel in advance and requesting two bathrobes we had to request again after arrival, sadly unless you were a size 10 they would not have fitted you! Only 1 drinking glass was available when we requested a second we were given a plastic beaker. The bed was a double not a kingsize and although it was comfortable the mattress sagged in the middle and caused you to both roll into the middle of the bed.

I enjoyed every part of my stay at the Nira Caledonia. The staff were all supremely friendly, attentive and catered to our every need. The setting was gorgeous and our room was sublime, everything there designed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I will be staying there each time I am in Edinburgh for sure. There was absolutely nothing I could mark Nira Caledonia down on. The location, the design, the furnishings and most importantly the staff were all amazing.

The small double was tiny but cosy, comfortable and still contained everything you would need. Staff were friendly and efficient. Location was excellent. An extremely pleasant and relaxing stay in a lovely boutique hotel The braodband wifi system they use is old and therefore my year old Macbook could not connect. Hotels should always be up to date with these things otherwise they are not in a position to offer wifi to guests. The cleaning staff make an unreasonable amount of noise in the morning, had we been staying another night it would have been extremely disturbing.

We have stayed there many times, very accommodating and good location and price. It has now changed, we have always had a full English breakfast included in the price, this time it was not the case, not even Continental breakfast was included, this was a shame and may stop us staying again.

The staff and the basic layout of the room. The tv was very difficult to make work. The water flow into the bath meant it took over half an hour to fill. The tea and coffee selection was "basic" 2 star standard. The food was limited.

The suite we stayed in was neat and tidy. Jacuzzi was an excellent feature. Restaurant had a limited menu but the food itself was fine. The staff were particularly pleasant and helpful. Very small shower cubicle and bathroom generally. Otherwise just little things like small tv not working in sitting area and lights not fully working on Jacuzzi.

Comfortable boutique hotel in great location. Friendly staff. No hotel parking but plenty of on road parking available in immediate vicinity at reasonable cost. Paid for an executive room, found a few finishing touches missing ie, no bathrobes, no mini fridge and no stationary.
