We liked the charm, informality, and location slightly off the beaten path. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The bedlinens were nicely fluffed. My room was too small--slightly claustrophobic--but my daughter's jr. suite was perfect. |

We were upgraded and so had a magnificent room with sitting room etc.Staff verypleasant and the position in Edinburgh was good; There was no private parking which was supposed to be available but plenty of space in the street. Too much dark furnishings and gold wallpaper for my taste |

the peace and quiet of the beautiful street. the size of my room no1 it was smaller than an average single yet classified as a double. no kettle no iron.very dusty tv cable. tv far too big for the room and impossible to watch comfortably due to weired angle. had to ask for a kettle and boil it on the floor due to very short lead. |

The hotel was very quiet during the night while being close to city the centre. A very comfortable bed which made for a good night sleep. The room was in the basement which was noisy first thing in the morning with staff coming and going. Th room was extremely small. |

Hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff are very helpful. It is located in a very quiet and pretty part of Edinburgh. I think that the breakfast could be a little later on Sundays, maybe even 10.30. Also some of the rooms are small. |

I felt it was cosy and a bit charming. I quite liked the big flat screen too. I thought were also quite prompt to help whenever needed. There are a few things which let me down. First from the picture I saw on the website I thought the room was a lot bigger, than it actually were. The first room I was introduced to on arrival was so small that there was space for barely walking around the bed. So I asked if there were any possibility for changing the room, and luckily enough they did. This time the room seemed more reasonable and there was a bath tub, which the other didn’T. Second issues with the hot water. On my second night at the hotel I wanted to take a shower at 1am and it was impossible to do that for the next 45 minutes as I first spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why the water was getting hot and then I called the reception, when I was told that the central heating had been switched off. So they switched it on and only after 15-20 minutes I could eventually take my shower as the water in the boiler still need to heat up. Third and perhaps the last, I could not enjoy the breakfast of my first morning because I needed to be n the centre at 8am for the highlands tour. Since the breakfast starts only at 8am it was impossible to match the up. And on my second morning I went to have my breakfast at 9.30am and the restaurant was full. I was called only 40 minutes later to finally have my breakfast. A couple of suggestions: 1. Perhaps it would be useful to leave a note on each room specifying the times the central heating would be switched off. That situation left me REALLY frustrated, as I was also tired from the long day; 2. There would be helpful if there is a bit of flexibility on the times for breakfast, as all the tours start at 8am, making it impossible to have breakfast at the hotel. Plus all the places are closed in the high street, so I had my breakfast only at 10am, after the first stop of my highlands tour, which by the time I was starving and angry. I get very angry easily if I am hungry. I hope the feedback will help for future guests. |

We were given an upgrade to executive suite which was excellent. Room was lovely but a bit dated. Staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Would go back if we got a good deal again. Downstairs is very oppulent but to class hotel as 5 star would def require updating of bedrooms. Nope, all good, especially staff. |

We were warmly welcomed and made to feel very comfortable. We stayed in an attic room & our luggage was delivered while we were out shopping. The service at evening was very good in the bar area and reception. |

the shower was very nice breakfast was fresh, guest house located in a nice surrounding and decor is in keeping with the buildings age.staff were welcoming . small shallow basin in bathroom, room was a bit small, but adequate.. the restaurant had no atmosphere and if felt almost like a library where you felt you had to whisper all the time. also it is stated that it is a five minute walk from the station, more like 15-20mins up some steep hills not so bad when leisurley walking, but not so good when you have suitcases, if it had been stated we would have got a taxi to the hotel when we first arrived |

There was an excellent man on the reception desk V poor value for money. At such a high price (£544 for 3 nights) we would have not expected to have to ask for the room to be dusted (it needed it), and the room was very small. The bed was a double rather than a king size. We had to wait on one occasion for a table to become free at breakfast. There was no lift. The room was not well thought out for comfort e.g. we had to ask for an extension lead, so that we could dry hair with hair dryer whilst looking in the mirror. On request, the room was dusted and an extension lead was supplied. The "wardrobe" was half size and not tall enough to hang anything longer than a jacket. My dresses got very creased, as did my coat. The health club advertised as near is in fact a 10 minute walk away |

Booked a "small double" room at Number Ten. The room was well appointed but uncomfortable. The room was like a corridor with footend of the double bed less than a foot away from the wall. Navigating yourself around the bed was a nightmare! The only place tp plug the kettle in was near the bathroom door on the floor - which made using the kettle dangerous. On the plus side the breakfast and dinners which are served at The Christopher North House nest door were excellent. Last time we were in Edinburgh we stayed at The Christopher North House and had a lovely room. My advice is to check with the hotel which rooms are available before booking and ask for a room description to avoid getting the room we booked! The room was oddly shaped and difficult to navigate. It was really a single room with a double bed squeezed in! |

The staff at Number Ten was warm and hospitable. They were extremely helpful and accommodating in helping us acclimate to the area. We were waited on each morning for breakfast in an upscale dining room. Our room was made up daily. We liked the quiet, safe, upscale neighborhood that the hotel was in. We had a great view from our hotel room window. The room/floor air freshener was a bit too strong but the problem was easily rectified. Our room was on the top floor and their was no elevator. The climb was not a problem for us and the staff took our luggage up to the room. |
