Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa  

Excellent care, privacy, luxurious. Would like to repeat the experience. I stayed by myself overnight and really enjoyed the peace, quality and magnificent views of the Tolkien suite.

The reception staff immediately upgraded my room for me free of charge even though I had made the mistake when booking and not clicked on the correct link.

Large room, fab breakfast. Focus is definitely the food here. Decent gym and pool separate from hotel. Massive, comfy bed and lovely bathroom.

Random room service (asked for corkscrew, got biscuits), dim lighting made room feel dreary. Probably would not return as just didn't feel that special for the price.

Staff was great! Change our room because we didn't like it and even gave us a bottle of bobble as it was our wedding night!

We stayed at Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa prior to flying on our Honeymoon July 2011. It is a perfect base for people looking to relax prior to flying from Gatwick, a short (£13) taxi ride from the hotel. Upon our arrival due to being on our honeymoon we were upgraded to the Tolkien suite, it was a lovely touch and what a stunning room it was too with stunning views over the local countryside, you can even see Gatwick Airport in the distance. All in all a stunning hotel with much going for it and highly recommend it.

The only complaint and it is a small niggle is the local business airfield which take off and landing of light aircraft can produce a little noise, other than that, perfect!

The Priory was a superb find. While close enough to Gatwick (15 minutes) to be a 'night before departure' hotel, it was unique and comfortable enough to have been a stand-alone destination. The staff both at the desk and restaurant, were gracious, articulate, and focused on the guests, rather than themselves, and the facility itself, was gorgeous. I am a fan of well renovated old structures with 50 mile views, and this one was one of the best.

The classical music in the main sitting room needed some variation. I heard the same Italian opera 3 times in 24 hours, Fortunately, it was one of my absolute favorites!

From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff. The facilities were very good, the breakfast was hot and cooked to perfection, Alos the waiter was very entertaining! We would definitely go back, but would stay for longer next time.

Well designed and clean room. Car cleaning service at the Spa was a novel and great service.

The entrance to the dining room was bit disappointing. Heard from other guests some of the rooms were not well insulated from sound of next room.

We were not given any sort of welcome at all upon arrival. I was clearly struggling to get through the front door with two bags and a large hat box but neither of the the two men on reception (just feet away) came to help. Added to that, neither looked up, said hello or welcomed my partner and I in any way when we managed to get through the door. To say it was a poor first impression would be an understatement - not what I would expect from a 1 star B&B let alone a 4 star hotel with prices to match. Unimpressed. The room was also extremely dark. Although there were three large mirrors in the room/bathroom, it was literally impossible to see to put make up on as the lighting was nightclub like - all this despite it being a very sunny day outside. I literally guessed what I was doing and then added more/toned other parts down using a mirror outside later in the day!!

A stunning hotel very impressed when we arrived. On check in we were told that there was no restaurant open that evening only bar snacks or room service. It was very difficult to find our room, despite being given a map! We had planned a romantic break, and wanted a nice meal to go with it, not a bar snack! Breakfast was also a disappointment, the beans were cold we had to send them back, the scrambled egg was, well i don't think they were made from real eggs - it was just such a let down - an expensive one too! We will not be returning to this hotel again.
