The Crown Inn is a traditional country pub with rooms located in the Cotswolds. Guests can enjoy a seasonal menu, real ales and locally brewed cider beside a roaring log fire or out in the courtyard.
Score from 28 reviews Excellent
Great service; made us sandwiches when we arrived late. Log fire in the pub
The location was very convenient, parking was ample, food was excellent and service was quick and efficient. The young lady that attended to us when we first arrived was very friendly and helpful. On the whole reasonable basic accommodation.
Trying to "go off menu" slightly was difficult, we were told they don't do jacket potatoes, even though we were asking at breakfast well in advance of the evening ( wouldn't have taken much to sort out with 10 hours notice) and the chap that took our breakfast order got a bit confused when we asked for poached eggs and no sausages with the Traditional breakfast. Sometimes people have special dietary requirements and it does help to be flexible. Hot milk would have been nice with the coffee but not offered. The breakfast menu said to help ourselves to yogurt but there wasn't any. The weather was freezing so the car park and path outside iced over and was very dangerous, especially with nothing to grab onto should you start slipping. With elderly people or someone like myself who has just recovered from a foot operation, so a bit unsteady anyway, it was horribly difficult to get to the car. No attempt was made to grit or salt even though we mentioned it. We were just told, yes it is slippery isn't it? to another confused look. It seemed as though they were not really looking out for the safety of their patrons. I think we were maybe just unlucky"/difficult" customers?
Close to M5. Good Beer / Cider (Real Ale) Good Food Excellent communication from the pub. Superb Staff Clean Comfy Bed A lovely old building with lots of character. Plenty of other customers. (Always a good sign!)
Not enough time to sample all the real ales!
small, old and quaint, staff very friendly.
wifi rather patchy didn't work often or for very long..
friendly and convenient. food good
The most important thing is cleanliness and I could not fault the Oak Inn. The rooms are basic but adequate. The food is very good and the pub has a good atmosphere.
There was a rubber band in our starter !! The waitress apologised but I expected the manager to have at least apologised.Maybe the waitress did not tell him, That aside..... great !!
we were comfortable and well looked after throughout our stay. Food was plentiful and very good.Much better menu than I was expecting. We are planning to return for two more weekends next year, booking shortly. We have told our friends how much we enjoyed ourselves. I would be happy to take a break here by myself,it was so relaxing.Thank you,it takes a lot of hard work to make everything look so easy.
Breakfast was excellent with locally sourced food. The bedroom was nice and warm (temperatures outside dropped dramatically overnight)
Very friendly and helpful staff. A very good choice of menu for the evening meal and the beds were comfortable.
We were quite happy with our stay
Very warm and cosy bar area with open fire. Good quality beers and wines. Excellent food with a wide variety on offer and fair prices. Breakfast was freshly cooked and of high quality. Plenty of it too. Staff were welcoming and attentive.
Bed was a bit hard for me personally but hubby thought it was ok. Hand held shower over bath.
Very good food.
Price Staff friendliness Extensive menu Bar/restaurant with open fires
Some traffic noise in A road rooms Problems with keys & locks
Having stayed here before I knew what to expect and was not disappointed. The room was warm and comfortable and the breakfast substantial. A real bonus is the quality of the food served in the bar in the evening. In addition, all staff gave a warm and attentive service, whatever they were doing.
Bed, pillows really hard! Room was cold, sky light wouldn't lock, and it rained all night with bad winds, so it was a rough cold night. TV was so small could barly see it.
Friendly and helpful staff. Food excellent (dinner and breakfast). Great location.
Hard bed, which also creaked. No shower.
good restaurant & creative menu supported by friendly staff. gladly recommend and return if in the area.
It was a nice place to stay and have breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely decor and comfortable stay over all.
Heating didn't come on until about 7am. Was a bit chilly in the room during the night. Bathroom sky light window in my room (number 2) was not closing properly, took a lot of tries to finally get it to stay closed.
We stayed for 1 night, the room was clean and tidy, the food was fabulous and the staff very friendly. Would definately recommend!
Menu, food and wine was excellent.
Rooms were basic. Shared hairdryer and power plug nearest to mirror was situated near to the ceiling. Bathroom window wouldn't close completely. Toilet seat loose. No heating in bathroom. Kettle power cable too short and could be dangerous.
Proper pub, with good beer. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Lovely rural setting. Very good value. Room immaculately clean. Other meals and snacks looked great.
Shower was a hand-held over the bath, and not enough hot water for a bath each.
Breakfast very good .Bar food also good.
Music from the bar at 12.45 a m keeping me awake -though to be fair it was turned off when requested.
Very friendly staff. Decent food. Room was fair enough - small TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Clean bedding. I did find the bed rather hard and the room could do with a lick of paint. The toilet seat was also loose. There was storage space in the room with a wardrobe and two bedside tables complete with sockets near the bed, which is useful. The hotel is fine for one night and the breakfast was decent enough with hot and coks drinks, cereals on offer as well as a hot breakfast. The WiFi did not work when I was there and neither did my data due to the location of the place.
Inadequate WiFi. Room could do with a paint.
Everything!! Great food, good sleep, I felt really welcome and i'd definitely stay again! I'm really glad I found this place :)
Food very good ale dangerously good
Noise from neighbouring rooms room was very cold bathroom freezing, radiator did not work. WiFi intermittent
I must admit I booked this stay based on the fact it was the cheapest in the area, on arrival I was pleasantly surprised, the room was not the biggest, but I am a solo traveller so all I require is a comfortable bed, wifi and a good shower, I was provided with all of these. The biggest surprise was still to come, I went down to the bar to have my evening meal and what a menu! It took me quite a long time to choose all my courses and I can only hope that I have business in this area again so that I can stay here again and try some of the other choices as well. Breakfast in the morning was also freshly cooked and not served in these warmers that you get in chain hotels and again it was top notch. The main point I must make though was about the staff, from reception to bar staff to waiter/waitress to the lady who served me breakfast in the morning all were a credit to your establishment, friendly, attentive and courteous, it was an absolute pleasure to stay at the Oak Inn
